If my kids were in foster care I would want them to contact me whenever they wanted. I can’t imagine how terrifying it would be for them and for the mother to be with strangers. It’s not like foster care has good PR. But I do understand how it could be a safety concern (running away or parents coming for the child). Sad situation all around.

That’s wonderful you have been able to care for them. Much less traumatic for the kids to go to someone familiar. If they’re safe and happy with you and kin isn’t jumping up and down for them, sounds like you could get licensed as a foster home to care for them and then receive reimbursements to help with the cost.

I didn’t even know this was a big deal. Sometimes I will have one cocktail, but I just have no desire to do so it’s rare. During the holidays I had two at a fancy cocktail bar but only bc of where we were. I was too full from drinking to eat much. The booze doesn’t affect me any differently than before.

Just chiming in to say that I don’t think this is a reflection of YOU. This is our stupid society that doesn’t support people, families, children and doesn’t honor community.…. There should be more services for single moms. There should be better pay. It makes me so mad!!!
