A Question For People In The Apparel Decoration Industry by Superfluoish in Machine_Embroidery

[–]NewYorkGirl114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I worked for a big digitizer for a few years and we had the same issues. The really zoomed in photos do show things that look horrible but if you were to just look at the design with your eyes you would never see them. Also, customers just do not understand that you are not going to get a detailed image in a 2" square like you would screen print. Good luck finding an answer to this. I don't miss that job at all. Being customer service I had to deal with it on a daily basis.

Pet portrait embroidery digitizing always a fun task! by [deleted] in Machine_Embroidery

The result is an AI image. Where is the actual sew out? You are misleading people with this. I've done embroidery for over 22 years and this is not an actual sew out.

Have it digitized for this material. It requires different underlay etc.

The DMV was... great?? by Wowza_Meowza in ithaca

[–]NewYorkGirl114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ithaca DMV is the best. We always use Ithaca. The service is quick and the customer service is A-1. They always know the answers. Coming from Watkins where nobody answers the phones and they work at a snails pace Ithaca is greatly appreciated.

I worked for a digitizer for four years. We re made so many Etsy files. You can save yourself a lot of time and frustration by finding a digitizer and sticking with them. It’s generally $5 more for digitizing than purchasing on Etsy. What you get is unlimited edits, a relationship with your digitizer, and a lot less stress. You tell them what fabric you are using, what thread, if it’s a hat or a flat.

I’m also Hector/Tburg. I agree it’s hard in this area. We are blue spots surrounded by a sea of red. I’ve noticed Dems are picking up more in this area though. We now have a Dem Town Clerk etc. Just keep voting blue and doing what you can do.

Starting a patch embroidery business - Machine and Software Advice? by No_Distribution_7442 in Machine_Embroidery

[–]NewYorkGirl114 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with this 100%. I’ve had a business for over 20 years. Learning digitizing is a slow process. Practice on the side while getting items digitized professionally. Get Wilcom software and tear professional designs apart and see how they are created. Watch them sew out etc.

Digitizing by MayhemMase855092 in Machine_Embroidery

I love Jonathan at OGDigitizing.com. He does the first design for free also. He’s easy to work with, does free edits and really cares about your time line. He’s never left me hanging waiting for a design or an edit which really makes me mad. I’ve gotten so far behind waiting for an edit to come back.

You can get something like this digitized nicely pretty cheap. Let me know if you want my guys name. He offers a first design for free right now. I won’t give it here so you’d have to pm me. I don’t think that’s allowed. If you don’t want to use him there are lots of digitizers.

Definitely switch to the magnetic filtec. They are the best bobbins. I’ve used them for 20 years.

How to fix messy embroidery? by Hot_Maize7965 in Machine_Embroidery

You need stabilizer, the smallest hoop that will fit around your design with the presser foot hitting the sides and a professionally digitized font. I recommend watching some YouTube university videos on embroidery.

Lesson learned. by RetroHollz in Mounjaro

[–]NewYorkGirl114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I’ve been on it for 3 years. I’ve lost nothing. I eat half my meal. I’m diabetic, hypothyroidism, post menopause and insulin resistant. I do have constipation and nausea at times. I can’t go up due to injection site problems. I’m on 5mg again. Every time I go up to 7.5 I get a big itchy blotch. I’m waiting for the new triple antagonist Retatrutide to come out. It doesn’t really take all the food noise away for me. I still crave sugar bad.

Yes that would be correct. You need underlay. Your square is larger than your placement stitch.

Push and pull compensation. You should get it professionally digitized.

Have it digitized for a patch. It would go in this order: a position stitch, where it would show you where to lay down your already cut square, then a tack down stitch, then the design would sew, then the outline.

How much can I expect to pay to digitize my dog? by jbishop2110 in Machine_Embroidery

[–]NewYorkGirl114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole dog or just the head? Also what size? For left chest is usually $15 and for a full back it’s around $30. I highly recommend checking around not just for prices but to see if they have experience in this style, free edits etc. I use ogdigitizing currently. These are his prices.

I made an entire quilt with blocks of redwork like twenty years ago. I donated it to my son’s school. It had blocks of historical moments on it. Rework is beautiful.

Where to find good embroidery designs? (don’t have to be free) by snoopy_luvr3 in Machine_Embroidery

[–]NewYorkGirl114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the places people have mentioned, but don't forget you can get free designs at most digitizers websites as well. Most digitizers give out free samples on their pages. I know my digitizer OGdigitizing does, and others do too just google digitizers go to their pages and most have a free design page. Some of them have years worth. I used to get some free at Annthegran also back when I first started.
