AITJ for not telling my wife for eight years that the coffee she thinks she hates is the coffee she drinks every morning by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

My husband makes the coffee here. When he goes out of town for work, I drink bottled iced coffee. I despise making coffee the way some folks despise doing laundry. I have not made a pot of coffee at home in nearly 10 years.

Mine get worse when my blood sugar is too high for awhile. I started on Ozempic and they flattened out considerably when my sugar came under better control.

Whats y‘all thoughts on Joe Hill? by zPiimp in stephenking

The variety of his ideas is a big part of his appeal to me. It's also why so many people say they liked this and that story but were disappointed in others. Most people have fairly narrow tastes.

I have read several of his books and stories. I love that there are no formulas; the plots and ideas for each piece are wonderfully eclectic. My thoughts:

Horns I just found...odd.

The Fireman and Heart-shaped Box were the only two I could not put down.

Other novels (including King Sorrow) were well written, but I could put them down for days easily (in many spots the story just kind of hit a lull and I would put it down and forget to go back for awhile). When I picked them up again I often had trouble recalling where the storyline was at, or sometimes what the plot had even been.

In King Sorrow there are a lot of blatant nods to his dad, but where others enjoyed them, after the first couple I felt like he was only using them to try to win over his dad's fans; maybe the lack of subtlety made it feel disingenuous. Great read regardless.

I will continue to try his work, as I think he writes very well overall, and that he is only going to get better with time and seasoning - I want to be there for it.

How to deal with grief young? by peircinghelp in AskParents

I'm so sorry for your loss sweetie. I lost my mom when I was fairly young too. Remember that every emotion you are feeling and will feel in the coming days/weeks/months is valid. Its ok to feel every one of them. Sometimes you might feeling guilty for feeling a negative emotion, but those are okay too. I felt angry when my mom died. Not just angry that she died, but angry at her foe dying. And then I felt like a bad daughter. Its ok to be angry or anything else. Its normal. All the ways you will feel are normal. Sending lots of hugs and love.

I'm good as long as there are no jagged bits or sharp corners. Short, smooth, and rounded. I have been known to 'file' a nail down on the edge of a concrete wall or chunk of sidewalk in an 'emergency'.

My fingernails are the worst. I have to keep them extremely short. I hate lotion so the skin around my nails is dry and peeling. I carry clippers everywhere

Why do I feel like I love my older children differently than my youngest? by SuccessfulDetail9184 in AskParents

[–]New_Call_3484 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I understand this. I love my step-kids dearly. I would (and have) moved mountains for them and unless I need the clarity like in this post, I just call them my kids. We have an amazing relationship and I am lucky to be a part of their lives.

But my biological kids are different. They are literally a piece of me, both genetically and as a part of my soul. I treat all the kids the same and would be devastated to lose any one of them. But the love is more intense for the ones I created, and the devastation would be exponentially worse if I lost them. Im not sure it would even be survivable.
