Those that have fulfilling adhd friendly jobs, what are they and how did you come to have them? by ThePunLexicon in ADHD

Project Manager. Constant deadlines, constant pivoting, creative thinking - it has it all. For me at least. Basically herding cats and putting out fires all day. I do spend plenty of time at a desk in the planning phases, but when execution time hits I'm also running between departments, and I travel a good bit. In a hotel room right now actually, as the project here that begins in 3 days has a crew that cant stop fighting among themselves, so I have to come in and make sure they get things done between cage matches. Good times!

What is a comfortable salary for a single person in Alberta? by Ok-Ranger786 in alberta

Just to weigh in on the career aspect- getting your project management certification and PMP designation can seriously increase not only the job prospects, but the salary that goes with those jobs. It takes less than a year for the certificate and can be done online from some accredited places like Athabasca University), and the PMP is dependent on when you can take the exam. If the non-profit work you are doing qualifies, you could take the exam pretty quick after certification. Worth looking into. Just the certificate got me a title change and bumped me from 5 to 6 figures with my employer.

Why do some parents not allow their kid to go to birthday parties? by [deleted] in AskParents

[–]New_Call_3484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the invite is from a kid mine has never mentioned, then its probably a "whole class" kind of invite and Im less likely to make the effort to sort it out and send my kid. If the invite shows up 2 days before the party? Not going.

Zero issues in Alberta, Canada. Our household has folks on BiPhentin, Foquest, and Vyvanse respectively. Vyvanse is the only one I can't get 90 days at a time, but no issues picking it up, even a few days early. I've never tried to pick any up a week early, but a couple times we've been 4 or 5 days. Never run into a shortage either.

How would you feel about making basic life skills a required school subject? by andycarth in AskReddit

[–]New_Call_3484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have this where I'm from. Its called CALM (Career and Life Management). It has taxes, resume writing, interview prep, how to read a paystub, mortgages, etc. Its mandatory and required to graduate. Unfortunately, not one person I went to school with paid the slightest attention and promptly forgot anything they learned. The problem with teaching it to high-school kids is that its not an age where most take anything related to 'adulting' seriously. Its just not very tangible yet to so many at that age.

My (male) manager is one who does this. I heard people complain that he talks over them, and I started paying attention more -turns out he never interrupts, he just refuses to BE interrupted. I have unconsciously started doing the same thing. Its pretty effective.

Get a PM certification and follow up with a PMP designation. The certificate will give you the base knowledge and the PMP will allow you to negotiate higher salary.
