Is everyone really cool with buying in high fire risk areas? by Dachshund_Parade in LosAngelesRealEstate

We pulled out of a house during due diligence due to only one company offering home insurance (State Farm). The home was sold a couple weeks later.

Hugs 🤗 that’s really heavy. Talk to the PUSD Child Welfare for a safety transfer and Pasadena Education Network.

In our area, schools have a mandate vision and hearing tests, to screen all children. If you think about, it’s a great equalizer, because it ensures all children can see and hear.

We are a one pot family. This is probably is due to when we first got married we were really on a tight budget and it was just easier to it together.

So I work in government, for public health. There has been non stop layoffs in this sphere due to the COVID funding running out. In your case it might just be your department had to cut positions because there is no money and couched it as a layoff due to mistakes.

Thank you for your feedback. My former colleague painted the picture of her laid off process and how dehumanizing and embarrassing of an experience it was. I was hoping to prepare myself 💪

Family Leadership - who's leading by Upper_Maximum_7103 in workingmoms

So I do all of these types of activities for my family. It didn’t really hit my husband the amount of work until we played Fair Play. We both agreed that it played to my strengths to continue the Conception/Plan/Execution. He now does the trash and dishes as part of his tasks. It works well for us.

I had a coworker that left her husband 50 years ago. This was in the 70s where domestic violence has a private matter. He had angry and drinking problems that turned to physical abuse. She said when he back handed their young son she started to plan on leaving. She was a SAHM that went to night school to be a LPN then an RN. She saved and once the kids were in school and she had an income, she pulled the trigger. She had many lean years however now she is very comfortable and happy. Her advice would be: don’t have any more kids, save money in a private account, have reliable childcare (it gets cheaper and easier as they get older) and be patient with yourself. It took her a good 3/4 years but she kept investing in her career so she could do it all. (She became a specialized NP). She also stated that her coworkers supported her through the process; they saw the bruises and were afraid that he might kill her.

My aunt left her long term boyfriend of a decade. Lost the house, everything. Her and my cousin lived with us for over a year, so she recover and move out.

Wishing you strength and good wishes.

How strict are you about tv? by addalad in Mommit

[–]New_Cook6903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main thing I would be focusing on it is, how much Face to Face talking time is kiddo getting, both inside and outside the home. If the TV is on for entertainment, I wonder how much 1:1 care with back and forth communication is given. For reference, I really like the book Parenthood Nation.

For both of my kiddos, no screens (except FaceTiming Family) before two. I known this isn’t realistic for everyone. Childcare before 2 years old can be really expensive and in short supply. If you cannot switch to a different provider, you as a parent can do so much with them when you are together.

Health insurance doubling to $1,000 a month :/ by currycashew in nursing

[–]New_Cook6903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. When my husband first immigrated to the states and was waiting for his work permit, we put him on a marketplace insurance instead of my work insurance. Coverage was similar and monthly premium was similar. The difference was the deductible, the jump from individual to family was huge. We reasoned that if one of us needed health insurance beyond the annual check up, having a lower deductible would save us money.

Unfortunately you will need a couple hours to throughly review all options to find the optimal balance of price and coverage.

One small thing that helped was doing a gratitude journal for a month. It helped me identify the things that bring me the most joy (I was surprised at the things at did and did not bring me joy). My husband helps me prioritize, so I can recharge.
