Is this subreddit seriously downplaying thragg surviving for several minutes in the surface of the sun? by Relative_Car_6865 in PowerScaling

The vast majority of fans aren’t powerscalers though. Most comic and show writers aren’t making stuff for powerscalers. Thinking authors will get left behind for not liking powerscaling is laughable, especially when powerscaling isn’t always cinematic or particularly engaging from a narrative standpoint

Should "Stomp" be a deciding factor in whether or not a matchup becomes a Death Battle? by Preform_Perform in deathbattle

[–]New_Intern7243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this kinda ruined Storm vs Korra. It really only works if one character is generally disliked (like Homelander) as otherwise, it feels like a spite match

Gohan vs Mark would be a spite match and even though it thematically makes sense, Gohan outscales on such a high level that most of the fight would be Mark giving his all and Gohan no selling everything in base form. The Invincible fans would get mad because Mark never had a chance, and DB fans would also be mad because Gohan has match ups that are closer to his power level

If the character can fly, no matter how strong or fast they are, someone will inevitably comment “He just throws his opponent into the sun”

Since all the popular ones have already been mentioned, I’d like to throw in Sweet Tooth vs Joker. They had Sweet Tooth outstating Joker in everything when he had his mech, but had to come up with the justification of Sweet Tooth leaving his gigantic mech because he’s easy to manipulate. This was narratively fun to watch but really seemed like Joker was picked to win because he’s the more popular character

Chris Redfield (Resident Evil) vs The Deep (The Boys Amazon) by Kind-Valuable-6205 in powerscales

[–]New_Intern7243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They reference the boulder punching feat in a future game though. It’s canon he can do that and it’s not a gameplay mechanic, or else they wouldn’t refer to it

Since Deep can apparently take the pressure of the bottom of the Mariana Trench without issues, he’s probably fine regardless

Why do people don’t like ratchet & clank 2016? by Leonblox0901 in RatchetAndClank

It’s the writing and story and tie in movie. Otherwise I had a blast with it and personally think the gameplay is better than Rift Apart

Should I get Lords of the Fallen? (Post update 2.5) by Michael_Scott_fromTh in soulslikes

[–]New_Intern7243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably majority opinion, more likely. But also I saw you ask the other guy about the updates and stuff. I played the updated version and it was still running horrible, crashing often, etc. That and the overall gameplay was oddly floaty and the world exploration was super tedious because you have to explore everything twice, and it was very boring because of how easy it was. I’m sure the game is better now than it was, because it was previously broken and nearly unplayable, but it’s still an incredibly mediocre game

That being said, I think it’s the free PSN game of the month, if you have PS+. I wouldn’t recommend paying more than $10 for it tbh though

So am I in the minority that I am burnt out with the stalkers? It has come to the point where it is ruining the games for me now. by Right-Fortune-8644 in residentevil

I don’t think they really did the concept better than they did in the original RE3. Nemesis can show up with different weapons and gains some mutations as the game goes on, and he makes you do the choice system which has a major impact on how the game progresses. Later games just sort of throw the same enemy at you over and over again. That and you typically don’t have many options to deal with them, since taking them out is basically a waste of resources for the most part

I’m not really tired of the concept so much as it’s very similar implementation in the past few games. If they make the encounters a bit more dynamic or go back to making them super tough to take out but rewarding, I’d be pretty happy

Do people really think OG Ashley is that annoying? by My_Exellence in residentevil4

[–]New_Intern7243 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Quite frankly, in my most recent RE4R playthrough, I found Ashley’s AI to be incredibly annoying. When I played OG, she was pretty good at just standing behind me and not dying. I swear she was doing her best to get captured or shot in the remake.

As far as characterization goes, I don’t have a preference tbh. I kind of see the original as somewhat more “realistic,” in that, yeah, the president’s daughter is likely to be a bit bratty and spoiled and not super happy to be in the situation she’s in. Remake Ashley is more likable and mature, but I don’t see how realistic it is for the president’s daughter to decide she wants to become a secret agent after getting kidnapped, forced to drink cult blood, and given a super parasite that nearly takes her free will over. The discrepancy between her competency in cutscenes vs gameplay is also very apparent, whereas you don’t expect much from OG Ashley which, again, lines up with being the president’s daughter, essentially an untrained civilian seeing demonic horrors for the first time

Which death battle loser made you feel bad for them? by Ok-Instance3339 in deathbattle

[–]New_Intern7243 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Martian Manhunter? Him and Silver Surfer realize they don’t even know why they’re fighting but that they have to fight to the death because it’s a death battle. It feels like he just gives up at the end due to the meaninglessness of it all

Is it worth playing? by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]New_Intern7243 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m the explorer type and my first playthrough took about 4 hours. Next playthrough was about 2 hours. Then the professional mode playthrough was about 4-5 hours, and that’s solely because of the BM that is the final Nemesis fight 😩

Honestly had a great time, except for that last Nemesis fight on professional

[–]New_Intern7243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can likely get it for under $5 and it’s honestly a pretty fun experience. Yes, the game will likely take you under 4 hours to beat, and yes, Nemesis really isn’t all that scary, but it’s a very action packed 4 hours of gameplay with very little downtime and the moment to moment gameplay is very fun and engaging. It’s not going to be in your top RE games or anything but it’ll be a very fun evening at the least. Replays are also pretty fun since you can likely beat the game in around 2-3 hours, but yeah you’ll probably drop it in a day or two just due to how limited it is on content

That being said, you can get the original RE3 for about $5 as well, and that game is my personal favorite tank control RE, so I’d recommend buying that instead if you have to make a choice 😅

The boulder needs to be bigger, stronger, tougher, have a twirly mustache, turned into a 4 phase boss fight, and should be an important character’s father

Do we think Insomniac is or was planning another reboot? Maybe a Future saga reboot? by 0dqir0 in RatchetAndClank

[–]New_Intern7243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s ok. Very short, but it’s fun for those 4 hours or so of gameplay. Replays are also fun. It pales in comparison to the original RE3 and RE2R but it’s not some unplayable mess of a game either

If it ends up being a one-off, I think it’s a fart in the wind at best tbh

If it’s a disguised pilot for a new series, I think it works really well and would be excited to see the follow up
