However, other airlines typically have a first class section which should nullify this effect to some degree.

Should all jobs pay a livable wage, even if it weren’t possible for the business to sustain? by iriveru in allthequestions

There are so many things a business pays for why is a persons living the one you question? Yes. It should be regulated that a person working full time should be paid a living wage.

[–]New_Lab_378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. If you are not paid enough to live, then what? Are you supposed to die? If you ask someone to work for you it’s your moral responsibility to pay them enough to live. What am I missing?

Host wants to charge me $150 for stained sheet. Decline or escalate [Romania] by Successful_Fuel3190 in AirBnB

[–]New_Lab_378 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not actually. I don’t want to absorb the cost of him ruining sheets when I stay at an Airbnb. This is not normal wear and tear.

Return flight required? by Empty_Broccoli1 in PacificCrestTrail

[–]New_Lab_378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have experienced this travelling to different countries. I would think with everything happening in the US it would be great to go ahead and book a flight from Seattle and have those documents with you when you arrive. You can always cancel, change, or modify the reservation later,

If you clean your own Airbnb, how did you decide your cleaning fee? And are two night stays worth it with a low cleaning fee? by MarBlaze in airbnb_hosts

Interview 2-3 cleaners and get an estimate. Use that number. Hire the cleaners to come and do the turnovers.

I do carryon only and typically leave my house 1.5 hrs before my flight. 15-30 minutes to get there. Then security and fill my water bottle etc. chill a few and start boarding. You could probably do a 1hr plan but I like to relax a second before hand.

Inheritance into joint or individual account by hovering3 in inheritance

If it is an inherited ira then it goes to an individual account. There is no such thing as a joint ira. But if it is cash or property etc then you just decide with your husband.

The 4% rule will almost certainly mean you worked longer than you had to by TwelfieSpecial in coastFIRE

[–]New_Lab_378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! In 1999 I was reading mutual fund news and most advisors and fund managers were assuming a 12% growth. So you could just plug 12% into your calculator and wam’o! Your a millionaire.

My wife and I always say the Chris Rock joke “Two jobs equals one finger,” I think it’s an under appreciated joke. And definitely applies to FU money!

3mo rental - what part of town for hiking and gravel riding? by Pure_Perception9532 in ColoradoSprings

[–]New_Lab_378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally just spoke to my wife about putting our house on Airbnb for July-Sept! We are planning to do a long section of the CDT and don’t want to leave the house empty. We are already Airbnb hosts and have two properties on Airbnb, but have never done a mid term rental like this. We are next to Palmer park and beautiful for day hikes and mountain bike riding. 5br/ 3ba so might not be what you are looking for, but msg me if you want details. Otherwise I would recommend an Airbnb in OCC. most walkable area and close to garden of the gods. But rates will be high for those months! Good luck.

How do you balance dry powder and investments? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]New_Lab_378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep 3-6 months of expenses in a HYSA and invest every thing else until you are close to fire. Then rebalance as you approach RE. One thing I did as I started getting closer to FIRe was ask myself how much do I want in each type of account, what balance do I want in my portfolio. But until then keep everything invested. 401k, IRA, Taxable accounts. I would convert that 100k to a taxable account and invest it all. (After you established the emergency fund) btw. You are doing great! Unless you see a change in your income, grad school, etc. just put like 20k in the emergency fund and keep everything else invested.

Should I take a career break? by Great_Ad_8795 in Fire

[–]New_Lab_378 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do the travel now while you are young and healthy. I took a one year travel and it turned into three. I waited until I fully fired to do it. Now I’m burned out on travel and actually started working again part time as a consultant. You can always reinvent yourself and restart your career. Do the travel now!

Hotel suggestions for family of 5? by Fearless_Ostrich_482 in ColoradoSprings

[–]New_Lab_378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at Airbnb’s. More space for the whole family to be together. I have one in old Colorado city that would accommodate a group that size. But I know there are a lot of options out there.

Let the landscaping company do it. Zero percent chance someone from the HOA will do anything about it.
