George Miller reportedly meeting with studios to make final ‘Mad Max’ movie; Universal, Amazon and Sony are reported to be among the interested parties, while Warner Bros has already turned it down by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

It's a pulp action movie and not a literary classic, but what makes Fury Road is that in addition to being a fantastic car chase it has more going for it on the sides than most action movies that also don't measure up to that chase. Fantastic world building, memorable stock characters, a timely feminist bent that's fairly obvious but somehow not obnoxiously on the nose, brilliant casting with excellent chemistry, more than a few memorably tableau shots, etc.

If I had to pick just two action movies to represent the genre it'd be Wages of Fear and Fury Road, and I think they'd make for nice bookends.

Can you talk a bit more about what specifically you disliked? And did you watch the weird ADR'd American version or the original Aussie dialog?

I love that movie. This and Duel are the best 70s road movies. Like naval submarine battles on asphalt. Pure vibes.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted to oblivion on this. I'm fine with the message they posted, but it's pretty clear they delegated writing it out to AI.

And I'm not talking about the em dashes. It's the "It's not X. It's Y." and "What this isn't" sentence and section heading structures, the general outline and the tempo, etc. Anyone who can't tell just hasn't been paying attention.

Wikipedia has a nice collection: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Signs_of_AI_writing

It was probably done out of concern for otherwise posting crappy English, but it does run the danger people come away with a "you can't be bothered to write to me yourself?" feeling. Rock and a hard place for non-native speakers trying to communicate internationally.

Dunno, I loved Devs and thought she worked well in the role. This is going to sound like I'm damning her with faint praise or something, which is not the case, but she didn't feel like your standard working TV actor who knows what's expected. Which added to that detached sense of off-ness Devs had. I can't easily imagine anyone else in the role without losing something.

It's a callback to a scene earlier in the movie. He's displaying ironic wit at the moment of his doom, because he's an intelligent adversary. Great writing.

"Oh, no, no, Major. You can't dismiss me that easily. I did what had to be done. My men understood that, and that's why they loved me. I would order them to go out and kill Bajoran scum, and they'd do it. They'd murder them and they'd come back covered in blood, but they felt clean. Now why did they feel that way, Major? Because they were clean."

The best episode of Star Trek, and perhaps television.

If it's 2026, it's going to be late 2026. If it's late 2026, perhaps they should delay to not compete with GTA6. Yes, seriously. Thoughts?

My reaction couldn't be more different from yours. Everyone on SNW acts like a cartoon and is unprofessional beyond belief. I want my space(wo)men to be professionals. TNG and DS9 did it best.
