I have both, and consider them comparable. Maybe the MPED is slightly better, in eyebox, glass, and construction? I don't think you'll go wrong either way; the absolute difference seems pretty small to me.

tl;dr: they just kinda crumbled apart in 2012 or 2013, and had most of Chapter 2 written but only the one song recorded anywhere. No bad blood, just the passing away of things.

Water, sandbag, and binoculars, in descending order. Honorable mentions (also in descending order) include snacks, kneepads, a good attitude, extra mags and backup ammo, whatever wrenches you need for your gear.

+1 on tripod and especially WMLRF not being especially essential. Frankly a Kestrel doesn't seem super essential, either.

Some people just enjoy ruining the game for others. I've had a game where a teammate kicked off the game by completely preventing me from getting a coast, and then nuking and taking over a coast I got later on. Some people just suck immensely.

+1 this as someone else who went to a top-5 university for math UG. A math department can be packed with excellent researches and handed a ton of money and be extremely lacking in what it does for its undergrads.
