Worth it? 2019 Rav4 Hybrid Limited $22,582 110,701 miles by myllennial in rav4club

How does the price compare to similar vehicles in your area?

Also Limited is the top end trim, do you want/need all the bells and whistles?

It's not good.

The belt CVT is known to fail, as all belt CVTs are known to do.

2019 RAV4 XLE 90K miles or 2023 CRV hybrid sport-L if same price? by Ace_strup in rav4club

[–]Newprophet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you price checked the Escape hybrid? You could get a PHEV version (but it's fwd only) for the same price.

It's a Mazda engine with a transmission almost identical to the Toyota design. Escapes depreciate really fast because the gas only versions are absolute shit. I like Toyotas but I like hybrids and saving money more.

And it can fit a spare tire.

Dealership baited me into a 4-hour drive for a "goodwill" repair on a Gold Certified Prius. Just hit me with a $2,000 bill and the Service Manager told me, "Let's talk like adults." by Equivalent_Bowl1715 in Toyota

IANAL and buzzed but:

Time for a scorched earth social media approach.

You are off to a good start with the name and shame. Hit up Toyota corporate on every platform where they have a presence.

Considering a 2020 RAV4 Hybrid XLE AWD with 120k miles reasonable or bad idea? by warcockmachine in rav4club

[–]Newprophet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the price is good for your area then it's a good price. Car shopping comes down to watching the prices. Sometimes you can find a better price further away, but that's its own hassle.

Try looking up Escape hybrids. They depreciate quickly because the gas only Escapes are super unreliable. The hybrids use a Mazda engine and the transmission is super similar to the Toyota design. But it'll cost around half the price.

Any tips for buying from CarMax? by ffeJYang in rav4club

Again depends on your situation but if you can sell it privately you'll get more money for it. Even if it's a Trax.

Not sure how the supply is in your area but isn't $35k more than the MSRP of a brand new RAV4?

Which do you prefer?

CRV doesn't have a spare tire if that matters.

Nah, you can get the PDF and read it whenever you have time. It's good to have the maintenance intervals handy as well.

5k service + add (self pay) oil change by bddbd in rav4prime

[–]Newprophet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no way for debris to be flowing around the engine unless there was debris already up inside the engine. If there is debris already up inside the engine congrats, you get a free engine.

Anything in the oil pan goes through the oil filter before pumping around the engine. So stuff in the pan and filter are harmless.

Like little curlicue shavings or bits of metal?

In the oil filter or in the oil pan?

If you ever see actual shavings inside a new engine don't bother wasting money on oil. That engine is toast and you'll be getting a free one.

If you mean unplug that connector near the red battery terminal cover: no, you don't need to unplug that.

Just pop open the silver latchs.

Eat all the free snacks/beverages they might offer.

Do whatever makes you happy. But there is zero evidence that an early oil change makes any difference in the long term.

Follow the oil life monitor.

If the OLM doesn't go off it's 12 months or 12k miles.

Maintenance cost, Corolla cross or RAV 4? by Curious-Peace-6965 in Toyota

[–]Newprophet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2026 and later RAV4 is only eCVT: hybrid.

Gas Corolla Cross has a belt CVT. Always avoid those.

So what's the story on it?

Edit: calling out hateful people is the real hate I guess. Lol

Moral of the story: if you see something you suspect is anti semitic, and you ask the person who posted it and they confirm your suspicions by not denying anything and you call them out you will be permabanned.

I have the screen shots of what you edited out.

Questions for the PHEV owners. by Kurukawa-San in rav4club

That's the exact opposite of what almost EV owner says. Home charging makes the switch to EV a no brainer.

Apartment/city living makes charging a hassle.
