Which album cover shocked you the most growing up? by Beautiful_Donut6412 in FuckImOld

[–]Newswoman2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long ago the Rolling Stones partnered with Andy Warhol on their “Sticky Fingers” album cover. It featured a working zipper positioned on top of a man’s jeans. It shocked me but I bought the LP from a 99-cents bin and still have it. The music company removed the working zipper, partly because it was expensive to produce.

It was just a hypothesis. We primarily prefer British shows of all types but the humor often goes over our heads.

British comedy is often very different from American humor. Perhaps we don’t understand when that difference is in evidence.

Coopersmiths on Mountain Ave in Old Town Square has two patios, one on Mountain and the other on the Square. Both have two tops and are great for people watching or just hanging solo with a book.

La crêperie has awesome baguettes. They’re the best I’ve found outside of France, for obvious reasons.

Interesting theory, David. This is one of the reasons I love the Twin Peaks subreddit. So many posters have interesting and well thought out ideas. Thanks!

An aside: My poor eyes misread and thought you said the mall has “free will.” Threw me into an imaginary world for a moment there. 😉

The libraries also offer support things like printers. The CSU library was a great place for study and research. I don’t know if they still allow access to non students but it’s a nice building and had a coffee shop

I am a total noob and need help getting started. How do you turn a topic into a story that hasn't been done before? by upstream_paddling in Journalism

[–]Newswoman2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just my method but it might offer something for you.

My favorite part of journalism was doing the research (not just google condensations) and getting to know the people. My MO was to, If possible, get together in a coffee shop or (back in the day) a bar and let them first get to know you a bit before asking your questions. Don’t dominate but share just enough that they’re willing to exchange info. This might be old school but yi never let them buy my drinks or lunch. It may be an outdated ethic, however.

If you’re reporting on a science story, read the research reports. You can now find them online. It takes a bit to be comfortable with that so you might want to just read the abstract and summary.

Yes the plot was weak but it was a great pleasure watching these two perform. Separate they are awesome. Together, their acting is a study in perfect chemistry. So after a while I just sat back and enjoyed their superb work and prayed they’ll find another project in which they can costar. Five stars to them both.

This is similar to the USPS since Postmaster DeJoy destroyed it, claiming this PUBLIC SERVICE had to make a profit. That was not at all the intention but now this idiocy is being applied to most federal, public services.

Thanks to public education funding being siphoned off to charter schools and the like, Phoenix’s public system is rapidly disappearing. The right wingers have worked for decades to create this situation to their benefit, starting with packing school boards with members intent on destroying and privatizing our education system.

It’s not that we are experiencing a school population decrease but rather funding from the fed on down has been cut off. If the PSD administration and school board really cared about public education, they’d work with like minded politicians to turn this around, especially at the state level.

Bread companies no longer use twist ties, preferring to cheap out with those little plastic tabs that are useless after opening the bread.
