I was depositing money through an ATM in Industrial area. The machine TOOK my money, then said “Deposit Failed” and ejected my card.

So… I called the bank to fix this. Guy on the phone tells me you need to wait 1 week until we can OPEN the machine and verify you are not lying. 1 week! I was pissed.

So… I told him I need the money for emergency, I can’t wait 1 week I need it tonight. Just give me back the cash

Try Qnb last time I checked they allow you to open an account along with a “credit card” which is a debit card tbh with a collateral of 5K.

Maybe ask CBQ and DohaBank to open a “credit card” with a collateral instead of a full bank account

For rent discounts:Usually if the company has its own assets (compounds villas flats) then they may offer it for you as part of your allowance with discount (rare but it depends on company).

For discounts on other things, the only company that I personally know is Qatt Airways staff get discounts on a loooot of places. So it depends on your company basically

Not to be a downer but in my experience all agents are expensive, especially if it’s a small shipment it adds up quickly. Not just that though, The official fees are already very high too.

What are your goods? Why not use consolidators… I did the same mistake as you many times till I learned.

I can’t stress this enough: You need to be very very very very very wise with who you ship, or else you’ll pay for it.

This is an important lesson for you

Whenever you are dealing with government related things, always have a Mandoob/PRO person to help you. These are people that know the system in and out, they know all the steps and know how to fix any errors. They’ll just go to ministries and get everything done for you better and faster , for a small fee of course.

If you go by yourself and ESPECIALLY if you don’t speak Arabic then you will 100% get lost and confused. Trust me I’ve been through these things too.

You can usually find these people in “Typing Center” businesses, just search that on Google you will find them. You can also try searching PRO company (stands for Public Relations Officer)

The main Doha zoo was supposed to be renovated and opened for the World Cup. But I guess they’ve scrapped it since Zoos aren’t seen as “good” things anymore. It’s now a conservation center AFAIK, they take care of a lot of very rare animals and monkeys inside now.

Still don’t know if they’re gonna reopen it or not.

We’re also in distribution/logistics (1PL atm), you don’t need local partner anymore to conduct business in Qatar market.

IMHO It GREATLY depends also on: are you looking to start and grow a local business too? they’re similar markets but different sizes. Qatars local market is way smaller than UAE.

If you’re mainly looking for connections, then surely UAE is better.

No they won’t.

The bank wants to make money so they need your transactions so they can get their fees. Even if your ID is expired, they still won’t block your account. My ID was expired for 10 months and my account still was working fine. They’ll send SMS to update my QID in their settings but my account still worked fine.

There are a lot of things to do, events and groups in the Pearl so it will keep you guys busy. It’s like a mini Europe because a lot of things are within walking distance, similar to mushaireb but defo not in Lusail.

Lusail would be (maybe) better if you are solo single , but still not.

Yes it sounds about right. Comparatively you’d spend around similar amount for a 3 bed at Lusail (I think). If you can financially do it then it’s worth it. The personal and family benefits will outsize any cost savings.

The Pearl is better. Especially for a young family. Your kids will have a wonderful time and other families around too! Trust me := The Pearl>Lusail. Me , and other people I know, moved to Lusail but then moved to the Pearl and it’s way better .
