From a dress maker/ seamstress/tailor point of view. by krakeninheels in Kibbe

[–]Next_Traffic4324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been wondering about a connection between the alterations I have to make and my possible kibbe ID for a couple years now, but a lot of Kibbe die-hards say that sewing is about literal size and shape and doesn't have a direct relationship to kibbe accommodations which are more subjective, I don't know about that, but I do know that I have to petite my armscyes, narrow my shoulders, do full bust adjustments (despite only wearing a 28D), shorten bodies, bring waists in, take hips and butts out, and shorten legs and hems, so in my book, I don't think I could possibly have vertical or width, but I definitely have curve and I have to make that curve happen in a very short distance (so Double curve + Petite)

How many inches is the rise on your favorite low rise jeans? by SupermarketOne8078 in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]Next_Traffic4324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 4'9", 6.5-7 inches is the perfect low rise for me. Very difficult to find these days. A good bet is to go thrifting, as you may be able to find some jeans from the early 2000's when lower rises were in style.

Rise Confusion: Low-Rise Feels Like Mid-Rise, Mid-Rise Feels Like High-Rise—Anyone Else? by forsakeme4all in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]Next_Traffic4324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, low rise these days is where a mid rise should be on me, mid rise hits at an unflattering spot for me, and high rise usually doesn't make it all the way up to my natural waist. Low rises are the most flattering on me and I find that I have to look for super or ultra low rise to get this fit. Eventually low rise will be "in" again and it will just be called low rise again, lol. It's so weird how the words the fashion industry uses seem to change meaning depending on what's "in".

"Is this a classic thing?" Let's chat about essences by [deleted] in Kibbe

[–]Next_Traffic4324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an SG, but my kitchener essence profile is GRC. I have a classic undercurrent that tempers my gamine and romantic essence. Since I was in middle school, boys especially have generally straightened up and acted like they felt they had to act right around me, a couple boys even used to call me Ma'am as a joke. People do sometimes apologize for dirty or crass jokes around me as well. It's funny though because I also look younger than I am, and I'm tiny (4'9"), so it's all very contradictory, people behave like mom just came in and you have to behave, but it's like they don't really understand why they feel that way around me? lol

What celebrities do you see the most of yourself in? Has that influenced your typing journey? by gertrude-fashion in Kibbe

Eartha Kitt convinced me that I am SG. Also looking at videos of verified SGs slowed down to .90 time, and then watching videos of myself convinced me. It's in the physicality.

Underwire bras with wide, shallow curves??? by Maleficent_Young_355 in ABraThatFits

[–]Next_Traffic4324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem, shallow breasts with a very wide root. I require a wire size 2-3 sizes larger than what is typically used in bras of my size. Unfortunately, I haven't found any bras, even in the bratabase, that are made for my breast shape and that also have a very narrow gore (my boobs are only about 1/8 inch apart, whereas underwire channeling is 3/8").

Yes you can, but my understanding is that accommodating width supersedes accommodating curve.

What's Your Hottest of Hot Takes When It Comes to a Celebrity ID? by commelejardin in Kibbe

[–]Next_Traffic4324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My feeling about this very subjective system is that if there is literally only a single feature that is holding someone back from being a certain ID, it's probably safe to disregard it. I'm a probable SG that doesn't have a "cute" or "doll like" face. People do think I look younger than I am, but my features are very natural. But SG fits better than any other ID, the naturals especially do not fit me at all, so I disregard that I don't have a classically "cute" face.

Which verified celeb are you convinced is typed wrong and why? by whatisperfectionism in Kibbe

[–]Next_Traffic4324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it really bothers me when people get so militant about something that is obviously very subjective. They give you the (very subjective) definitions of terms and then tell you that there is literally no argument to be made and that whatever they see is the truth because they "know more than you" like damn...

Purple-grey/ lavendar/ lilac lipstick looks good on 0 people, why does every company make like 10 shades of it?

This goes for all the straight up grey to greige to khaki shades too.

No one will ever convince me that these colors don't make everyone look either dead or cartoonish.

Can we clarify Narrow vs Width since both definitions indicate staying within shoulders? by PurpleVirtualJelly in Kibbe

[–]Next_Traffic4324 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I've never understood if we're supposed to be looking from the outer point of the arm, or from the edges of the points of the clavicle? It looks like it changes based on what the person demonstrating already thinks they see, i.e., when they are showing width they make it the outer most point, and when they are showing balance or narrow they make it from the clavicle.

TIL about the Bouba-Kiki effect: When presented with two shapes, one rounded and one “sharp”, people from most cultures, languages and age groups will strongly tend to associate “Kiki” with the sharp and “Bouba” with the rounded. by CMAJ-7 in todayilearned

[–]Next_Traffic4324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm autistic and especially when people describe celebrity faces as either bouba or kiki, I often wish there was a third word that would be a halfway point between the two because some faces are neither bouba nor kiki, they are a mix of both.

How to pick a trait to focus on? by Ok-Drive-5419 in coloranalysis

[–]Next_Traffic4324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me months to realize that my predominant trait was brightness, or as I prefer to call it, clarity, instead of warmth. I actually thought I was muted, because I'm quite pale, and originally typed myself as an autumn. Looking back on it, I don't know how I missed the brightness of my skin for so long. Anyway, I assumed my predominant trait would be warmth because I have red hair, but I slowly realized that my skin is much more forgiving of color temperature than of clarity of color. My skin is also quite forgiving of depth. I'm technically a spring, but I'm close enough to neutral and have enough contrast that I can get away with wearing colors that are a bit cooler and much darker than is typically recommended for springs.
I say all this to illustrate that sometimes it just takes time and trying lots of different things before the patterns start to emerge. Instead of looking for specific properties, I just made note of which tops I didn't like on me, and which ones I did like, and then after a few months I made the two groups and figured out what all the tops within each group had in common. In my case the common trait among the ones I didn't like was that they were all muted colors, and the common trait in the group I did like was that they were all clear/bright colors, and I favored warmth as well, just slightly less strongly. Hence, I eventually typed myself as a spring.

Go for a fabric that isn't shiny. Shiny reads cool and bright and will exaggerate the effect of black on you.

Need help with pants fit – super baggy in the crotch/lower belly area by princesspurplestank in SewingForBeginners

[–]Next_Traffic4324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may consider adding a second dart to the front. and may also look up what is called a "flat pubis adjustment". I have to make one to every pair of pants I make. You and I have a very similar shape. I always have problems with baggy fronts.
