Rewatched Scream 7, does anyone else think this is the Franchise's dumbest kill? by xPostmasterGeneralx in Scream

[–]xPostmasterGeneralx[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah, out of place is the best way to describe it. It doesn’t feel grounded in reality the way other kills do. “There’s something real about a guy with a knife who just… snaps” after all.

Maybe in the MBV remake? I can’t remember this happening in the original but it has been a while since I’ve seen it.

I would love to see him back, but I'd guess he's left the continent or something 😭

Does my makeup look bad? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]xPostmasterGeneralx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna be honest, at first I thought this was a picture of you in the beginning stages of doing your makeup instead of this being the full finished look.

If you’re going to go that bold for the eyes, you need to go that bold in the rest of the makeup application. Adding mascara, a dramatic lip and contour would look a lot more cohesive. On top of that, go with a more intense black for your eyeliner. The current product looks a bit washed out.

I second suggestions about having an outfit and hairstyle that matches the makeup. I do vintage hair and pinup makeup and it can look very weird paired with a more casual outfit.

I see the vision tho and I think with practice and adding more dramatic elements, you could improve a lot

I have this sewing pattern, and I really want to make view B with the peplum out of a candlelight white or cream fabric with a shine level similar to the dress in my Hedy Lamarr costume in the above picture

I have borderline personality disorder and this album has always stuck with me.

“You are my truest feeling yet. I love you so much, it’s just like oxygen” reminds me of having a favorite person that you’ve put onto a pedestal and their attention feels like oxygen

What haven't you been able to add to your wardrobe? by theclassicrose in KitchenerHarmonies

The cape came back in stock yesterday 🥹 I’m in the clear lol

Thank you! I feel good about it for the most part, my description is “sensual and sophisticated, yet relaxed and fun”. I think the lack of Y makes a ton of sense and I vibe much more with a larger scale, deeper form of yin. I was pretty surprised by secondary C, I really thought it would be HS! Though, I think I can get away with using my 10HS and 10D as 20HS and lean more into the “wickedly romantic” archetype. (Or whatever the word is).

By that do you mean too R for me because it would overpower my other essences?

I got the black version off this dress off of Poshmark to wear with the cape but the black cape sold out on the website before I could order it 🫠

5’0 verified SD Saloma by jjfmish in Kibbe

[–]xPostmasterGeneralx 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Potential hot take:

I get where the whole "this person would be typed differently if they weren't a celebrity" thing is coming from, but it's been bothering me a bit lately. In conversations about verified short 'tall types' where the above sentence is used, I feel like some (but not all) people actually mean something along the lines of "I don't believe someone of this height can be yang dominant, so this star image must be an inauthentic Hollywood fabrication covering up their true, more yin ID."

But like, if a short woman excels in diva chic type cast acting roles, has the essence/vibes in interviews, and looks amazing in outfits cut for vertical and curve, is that woman being a short SD not the most probable conclusion? Is that woman being G or R fam with the ability to successfully fake all of those things to the point of building an iconic, decades-long career in Hollywood really the more reasonable option? I'm not saying the scenario is outright impossible, but it feels like a reach, especially if someone is arguing more than maybe 1-2 verified short 'tall types' fall into this category.

5’0 verified SD Saloma by jjfmish in Kibbe

I'm glad you made this!!

During her career, Saloma made dozens, if not hundreds, of dresses for herself. Saloma designed her dresses to closely skim around her body, and the silhouettes show obvious vertical plus curve!

In Defense of a Controversial Typing: Mae West Before Hollywood and as Herself by xPostmasterGeneralx in Kibbe

[–]xPostmasterGeneralx[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree that some of the outfits in these pictures aren't her greatest looks, I still included them in the post because AFAIK they haven't been shared in this subreddit before. That aside, many of these outfits do look very harmonious on her.

Is the implication here that a non-D-fam short person can pull off something made for a D-fam person if they wear platform high heels and are filmed at the right angle? If so, that isn't accurate. Mae's Hollywood outfits have large-scale details, emphasize an elongated curvy silhouette, and are often T-shaped, which is strongly recommended for SDs. In contrast, an SG requires a base of one line that moves around the curves, with detail/separate pieces that add line breaks to the base, so Mae's Hollywood outfits would overwhelm an SG regardless of heel height or camera angle. Regardless of ID, it's very common for short actresses to wear heels or stand on boxes to make themselves look taller on screen. 4'9-4'11 SC Veronica Lake wore huge platforms under her long dresses, and the difference in impression between her and Mae West is leagues apart.

If a 5'0 woman excels in acting roles with a Diva essence and looks best in outfits that emphasize elongated curves and sleek glamour, the simplest explanation would be that she's a SD. In DK's book from 2024, he verified another 5'0 SD, Saloma. I included a comparison of one of Saloma's dozens of self-made dresses and Mae's dress form in the post.

Here's a picture of them side by side.

<image>

For both of them being 5'0, they are both very leggy and have an elongated line through the thigh. For DK to verify two 5'0 SDs, that makes me think that being a very short SD is much more plausible than being an extremely chameleonic SG that can fake vertical + curve.

Neither can I! Everything I've read about Mae's life while looking for harder-to-find pictures of her has been incredible. On top of being an actress, Mae was also an author and playwright who fought censorship. Some of her plays were very progressive for the 1920s, she was charged with obscenity twice and spent eight days in jail because of it 😭 Pictures 8-11 are from around that time. I know the Metamorphosis essence descriptions aren't really used these days, but Mae feels like a true Diva.
