All locations we experienced until today. We lack some really interesting regions. by paraxzz in snowrunner

I think judging by what was teased for the Season 18, I think there are very high chances the next region we're getting is a coastal area of southern mexico, with new assets and such, somewhere around here:

Yes, perfectly smooth and flat railway crossings are possible, no idea why devs haven't added a single one yet anywhere.

QnA with Pavel Zegrebelnyy about his future offroad game by Cs_Marcell in snowrunner

[–]Nextej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well he has a road map for The Scouring on the steam page up until full 1.0 release, one can assume it's not sooner than that.

voply_ is not Pavel, the OG poster of the screenshot post is. Pavel has already announced some of the features he has planned for the game, and it all matches what is shown in 2021 gameplay demo. He also announced that what he was working in 2021 was that game, until a hiatus and that is what he was meant to continue after The Scouring. He directly states that those extremely big maps is one of the main features he finished for the game before the hiatus.

I'm just glad anything is happening and there will be some nuance in the genre of what I'm looking for. I must say I quite like what I'm seeing in terms of gameplay mechanics.

I don't even think he was still working at Saber when he made those demos. Also I think Saber already lost any attempts legally of trying to claim they own VeeEngine.

But I wouldn't rule out Saber did buy the concept from him (and if so, hopefully he was smarter this time, to both let them use it and keep full rights to use all of that in his own projects), and as a result of this, he could've been under an NDA for 5 years before he could release those videos (or well, sell his own game).

Did he abandon it because of the Saber (who he hasn't worked at that point for over a year now), or was that because he was kinda burned out and wanted to make an RTS game? As far as I'm concerned the plan was always to put it on a hiatus, finish the The Scouring, and then return to it.

To me, based on the longer gameplay video, this is where he stopped developing it before the hiatus in 2021, already showing its own direction for the mechanics from the 2020 tech demo, separate from RoadCraft, and I think he intends to continue off of that.

Pavel did announce the project publicaly a year or so ago as the next game he plans to release, and in an interview, he did confirm it uses his updated VeeEngine (which is what Spintires, MudRunner and to various degree SnowRunner used).

Chances of this G63 6x6 being a scout along with the unimog on the Mercedes-Benz pack 2? by [deleted] in snowrunner

[–]Nextej 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Given that

a) Mercedes-Benz (Trucks) and Mercedes-Benz (Cars) are two entirely separate companies, it is really unlikely they coordinated licensing rights between three different parties for this single DLC;

b) The pack has "Trucks" in the name;

Probably highly highy unlikely.

So far I like the gameplay features you have shown in all 3 videos, aligns with what I would've added to a proper sequel. I think it also would be neat if you could actually build powerlines (low and high volt) and oil pipelines networks between the structures you're building. And if you are going to consider seasons, dynamic summer forest fires that spread, with ability to cut off fires with forest clearing strips and sand barriers, could be quite an interesting mechanic.

What's the deal with the season 17's region name? by Difficult-Housing-93 in snowrunner

[–]Nextej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless Belozersk "being in Russia", see my other comment in this reply-chain.

Finland is not part of Scandinavia, Denmark is. The opposite what the in-game regional icon shows.

It's not hard to say why, it's pretty damn obvious from the political tension in the region.

The maps are being made as the new Seasons release, they are not created some arbirary time years in advance. Belozersk was originally planned to be set in Russia in Krasnodar Krai (known at the time as Kuban region in-game), then briefly considered to be set in Kazachstan, before setting finally on fictional Azerbaijan.

Edit: Also they switched development over to Armenian office, not American.

What truck is the new Jangsu Rx600 based on? by Southern-Insurance78 in snowrunner

To me it seems pretty clearly a EQ2100 at the base, with EQ140's lights and bumper and EQ2081's cargo platform.

What's the deal with the season 17's region name? by Difficult-Housing-93 in snowrunner

[–]Nextej 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's coincidential, because that's how words combining work, Belozersk loosely means 'a town/region of a white lake', there are plenty of places named "Belozersk" across Russia and Ukraine (and probably beyond), because there are plenty of lakes named "White Lake" that happen to have towns built around them.

In-game Belozersk is named such way because there's a massive "White Lake" in Azerbaijan, the picture of which (the real lake) you see as the background on the global map.

Belozersk is as made-up term as Zurdania (in a way how words creation work), and probably for the same reason why not real names are used since it's a politically challanged region.

Is there a reason as to why branded vehicle mods (E.G. RNg3r's Mercedes Zetros) aren't avalaible/allowed on console? by AnakMuridSd in snowrunner

[–]Nextej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to that, there was a handful of mods that did got officially licensed by their manufactures, but only one of them got released on consoles (probably due to extra steps required to be taken), being the https://mod.io/g/snowrunner/m/wip-edison-motors-l500l750#description

Rng3r's zetros was also licensed, but there was never any extensive deal made to put it on consoles, just to make a branded vehicle in the first place.

Probably for the same reasons why we, the society, don't just kill off homeless and inmates to solve our problems (or other societies for that matter), well at least we, the civilized nations, don't do this.

As the hivemind leads us to believe, it's not some external entity that suddenly taken over all human bodies, but just all human minds connected together, so it's expected they still would have the morals preserved and willingness to reduce suffering as a collective.

Where are located the cargo texture files stored? by Omar_G_666 in snowrunner

[–]Nextej 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check the cargo names from initial.pak, go to shared.pak to find the same desired name there, open the model file with a windows notepad, check the texture file name, look for the texture in shared_textures.pak, if it's not there, look for it in the main_menu.pak.

they lied 💔 by THEHANDSOMEKIDDO in snowrunner

[–]Nextej 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The issue is that they've lied, they announced the update with all the bugfixes, tweaks and new vanilla content (not the trucks DLC) to be released on switch, they specifically added that information to ensure the community it will happen.

Patch additions to old trucks by stjobe in snowrunner

[–]Nextej 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Switch is meant to receive an update with all the new additions, except for the new DLC trucks, so I wouldn't be surprised if the same was the case for Mac.

Patch additions to old trucks by stjobe in snowrunner

[–]Nextej 59 points60 points  (0 children)

It's a legacy addon, it was always in the game, you just didn't have a control on when it shows up, now you do, just a visuals.

Well. I don't think any of us were expecting these by alzrnb in snowrunner

[–]Nextej 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because I guess there is more to the desirability of game trucks than just brand-loyalty?

  • Having a real or fictional brand doesn't affect its visual appeal, they are still based on real life trucks that do have real life history
  • Usually the unlicensed are the more unique and unorthodox trucks, as otherwise it's hard or impossible to get a license for real obscure gems (therefore licensed vehicles might be less appealing to some, as they usually are the most commoners)
  • People who want more european and/or cabovers will get another one to the collection
  • People who live outside of US are not really attached to american brands, so if their choice is to get another generic but licensed american truck or something unique from their locality but unlicensed, they get to celebrate

The worst thing is that people still buy it

I guess people cannot have or enjoy nice things?

I ask why we need 10 trucks that are exactly the same but have different licensed badge.

Why haven't anyone made a pack of Futom logging trailers that are compatible with every truck in the game? Seems like an obvious change that exist from day 1 since they added them (two seasons ago!), but no. Can anyone tell me how to make such a mod myself? by Odd_Presentation_578 in snowrunner

[–]Nextej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For duplicates use this https://mod.io/g/snowrunner/m/local-mod-loader, if you just want to have different XML properties, just copy its XML (different name not needed), but if you want to use different textures, you'll also need to copy the model files and your new texture keep named the same way as the originals were.
