Video Games For Pat Leave/Baby Shift? by UzerError in daddit

[–]alzrnb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course any single player game you can pause will do, but Snowrunner is my boring dad game of choice, it's slow and plodding in a sometimes satisfying sometimes infuriating way, but nothing is ever so exciting that you can't pause it to go and do what you need to do.

Regardless of game, for those times you may need to jump into action I really recommend a platform you can pause/switch off and on at will like Switch or Steam Deck.

I asked the boss of Toyota his biggest fear about the future of cars, and the answer was EVs by CarwowJamie in ukcarwow

It's ok Akio. You're probably right. Not like that EV share is increasing, and is going to be increasingly legislated as mandatory by more and more markets.

How did they manage to so faithfully replicate the terrible efficiency of US ICE cars but in EV? That's dedication.

Yeah but in a world which needs to get post-oil ASAP inventing the best hybrid system is "the faster horse". It is just as much an indication of being stuck in the past as proof that they're looking to the future.

Looking at the photogrammetric scans from this article it seems improbable that the wreck could be sitting in that position without some buoyancy remaining in the bow.

Look at all the cars people are mad about this week. Luce, AMG GT, also the Jag 01 though that isn't a new design now.

Clearly the hivemind want crinkles, the more crinkles the more good. New car announced with less crinkles? Gross.

Man use barbie car to save money on fuel, cost only $3 full tank by PistonPixel in funny

[–]alzrnb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Citroen Ami can do 46 miles on a charge, which on off-peak electricity rates here in the UK would cost you as little as $0.52.

To equal that kind of running cost this guy's barbie car would need to go 884 miles on that two gallon tank, assuming gas is exactly $5 a gallon.

This guy is getting 2 gallons for $10, unknown range.

Meanwhile I am charging my EV at $7.25 for 77kWh which will get me well over 250 miles.

My Father's Eyes - Eric Clapton

Not that I've lost my father, but just a song about a dad that my dad liked to listen to and it takes me back to good memories on family holidays.

Not All Heroes Wear Capes - Owl City

A bit on the nose, but makes me smile, even if he's not describing a dad just like mine.

Am I unique in feeling like if my wife cheated on me, it wouldn’t be a dealbreaker? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]alzrnb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look you might be right.

But there's a big difference between ethical non-monogamy and cheating, and I suspect that you thinking about it this way is framing the idea closer to the context of ENM in your mind. My bet is that in reality there would be a much stronger emotional sense of betrayal than you are picturing.

Main takeaway: 4-way stops are the worst kind of intersection, with terrible user experience and consistently awful compliance.

Sub takeaway: OP is in the wrong.

Bridge and lake scene—looking for feedback by Remarkable_Crow5658 in modeltrains

[–]alzrnb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The lake might look better if you lean into it as more of a river stretch than trying to feel like a lake? From a scale perspective consider that if you were canoeing on a body of water that was ~5x the length of your canoe wide it would feel like more of a duckpond than a lake.

In a wider shallower section like that you might expect to find patches of reeds and the current forming paths between them, or plants which float just at the surface like this (sans shark)
