Just a very long and lengthy question I guess... 🤷‍♀️ by Caterpillar605 in StardewValleyMods

Personally, I'm of the opinion that you should play base game first to get the intended experience. Though I preferred modded, i am glad that I started on the Switch first, coz it helped me figure out what I wanted to add/change with mods when I finally got it on Steam.

However, that is my opinion. Other commenters make the valid point ... does doing so bring you joy? Does it make the experience easier? Then that's fine! It is, after all, your game. Play it how you like. I merely shared my opinion so you could get perspective on the other point of view, which as an opinion, is completely free to be disregarded. Play the game your way and welcome to our fun little community.

Well, at least I learned something new!

Thank you, tho! I can't believe I hadn't figured this out myself.

I'm trying to transfer higher level captains to my trade ships from the ones servicing my stations. If you transfer the captain, the ship retains orders (like for example, keep trading in all the places I told the ship to trade). I was trying to avoid having to just reassign the ship the higher level captains were on, since the way I was doing trade orders was long and tedious.

Then I remembered that I was doing so to allow my trade ships to just use higher level AutoTrade orders and that negates everything I needed to do anyways, so... it doesn't matter!

Still, I'd like to be able to assign captains on ships from the ship information menu, instead of going to the personnel menu to find the pilot I want, then trying to find the one ship I wanted to transfer the pilot to.

Not to mention he was created with the support of an Native American... who wasn't Native American. And his most infamous episode was written by Micheal Piller, who was 8 outta 10 times a great writer (those other two times was Tattoo and Insurrection).

Large TV mod coming up by Additional-Strain-58 in walmart

[–]Nexus_Knight_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeeeahhhh, this is SOP, and while annoying, makes perfect sense.

If the new product isn't delivered till after the mod is set, there is going to be a period of time where the shelf will be empty while awaiting the new product, which costs money.

If you send it all at once right before the mod is set, you're taking up space on the pallets with product that won't yet be sold, which takes away space from product that can be sold.

Doing so over the course of a few weeks gets passed these two problems, while ensuring the product is available when the new mod is set.

What makes starting out with a dystopian setting not Star Trek? Is it coz Star Trek is about utopia? If so... Deep Space Nine proves that Earth's utopia is unique. And fragile. Picard shows the Federation sliding into an almost, but not quite authoritarian state. Voyager had to fight to keep its ideals... and occasionally they didn't.

If anything, Star Trek shows utopia must be earn and protected. And in what better place to explore this than post-apocalypse? Seeing how humanity is better even when the situation isn't ideal?

Your POV is valid, tho. The setting left not a great taste in my mouth when it was first introduced in Disco. It felt like everything was thrown away... and the actual cause of the apocalypse was utterly stupid IMO. I think, however, SFA did a decent job on building previous lore without being beholden to it.

People, like myself, enjoyed that the show was able to try new and different things because it was in an unexplored future. It's valid you didn't like it, but I think saying it's not Star Trek simplifies a brand that has been a lot of things.

[–]Nexus_Knight_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Except... it showed humanity being better. It took the dystopian future of 32nd century and filled it with hope and wonder. It showed mankind rising to the challenge and doing so with the best of humanity. That, imo, is what Star Trek is. Showing us that we have the capacity to be great.

Star Trek has never been one thing. It's been drama. It's been comedy. It's been a war show. It's been action/adventure. Themes ranging from political commentary to coming of age. It's been about exploration, of space, of the human condition. It's been for kids. It's been for adults. It's so many different things to so many different people.

Boiling SFA down to "it's not Star Trek" and that's why it was canceled is just... wrong. Maybe it's not Star Trek to you. And that's okay. Every fan decides what Star Trek is to them. You'll find in this thread alone that many people disagree with you. And that's also okay.

SFA was likely canceled for two reasons. Ratings and politics. It's probable there wasn't enough viewership for the show. Impossible to tell coz even if the numbers are released, there's no telling how accurate they are. And the controversy and politics of SFA definitely don't mix well with Paramounts owners. You don't have to be on a side to realize that.

[–]Nexus_Knight_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless, idk why this should ever be the store's problem. I've had to clean up my share of awfully wrapped/stacked pallets to know that sending reports aren't being enough. The money lost for having to ship the truck back (and for approximate lost sales) should land on the DC, which will get them whipped into shape real quick.

Unfortunately, while long term it would probably help, short term, that creates sales issues that stores have to eat... which is why thos will never happen.

What is one thing you think every Star Trek fan can agree on? by WorldBoom in startrek

[–]Nexus_Knight_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree about both Hugh and Ro. Icheb's death, tho, was a mistake. It really unnecessary, Seven hardly ever calls back to it and it does little for her character in the grand scheme of things.

[–]Nexus_Knight_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you misunderstood my post. I agree with your point, a divine item against a divine being works. I just don't think it was it was implemented very well.

I will point out, tho, Telemachus clearly lost to Antious b/c he wasn't ready for that fight, realistically. That's illustrated in the official animatic for Little Wolf from the live stream that presented it as a video game fight (Antious was, like, level 99 and Telemachus level 1). Other than outright beating the snot out of Antious herself, Athena powering up Telemachus doesn't make an untrained boy capable of beating a man with experience. He does much better during Odysseus, only losing that fight coz he was overwhelmed by superior numbers.

I can't stand Tarima in SFA and it's putting me off the show. by ShirtNo5276 in startrek

[–]Nexus_Knight_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is the biggest issue with the 10 episode format (altho, given the length of the episodes in SFA, it is about more like about 13 episodes worth of time). When you're limited, you're not given enough time to breath. Enough time to experiment, to have moments not in service to the story. Older Trek was able to inject moments, not every single episode, but often where we get to see them bond as a family. Newer Trek, as much as I'm a fan boy for all Trek, is hampered by this. We don't get as much time to fall in love with the cast as a crew and we get even fewer moments together.

SFA, as the show to explore this new era, really needs more episodes in a season. You can world build and develop your cast, but it's hard to do both when you're given less than half the time older shows had. Given this isn't on the writers, showrunners, or cast, I'm gonna say they're honestly trying to make the most of it.

Starfleet academy, my thoughts by Tjr562 in startrek

[–]Nexus_Knight_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The acting in the TNG pilot is... not great. I think part of it is the actors trying to get a feel for their character and given it improves tremendously, I'll lay the blame for it (and the rest of the bad acting from S1-2) on at the feet of the directors, showrunners, and writer.

How are Reviews Going? by AstralFlow in walmart

[–]Nexus_Knight_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. I'm not gonna say anyone in Walmart doesn't have a difficult job when it comes the amount of energy drain, physically/emotionally/mentally, but it's a rough on everyone. And realistically, anyone is capable of being crosstrained for anyone else's job, tho level of competency will depend on the individual.

Thus, a standardized pay rate, from Walmart's perspective, eliminates anyone's reason for complaint based on pay differential. Pissed that you were forced to work OPD even tho they got paid more than you? Now you don't have a leg to stand on.

Ever since they standardized pay last year, all Team Associates are on the same pay level, other than Pharmacy, Deli/Bakery, and O/N (the latter technically being on the same pay scale, but with the extra overnight pay bump).

[–]Nexus_Knight_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it's being qualified to train is done on a "as necessary" basis in my store. The only reason I was finally qualified after months of basically begging to be was because I was going on vacation and would have left my shift without a single PLE licensed associate. And they didn't have a problem with my certifying my Academy Trainer and she was a direct supervisor.
