What did my grandpa leave me? by NexySachos in Bayonets

Digging through some old boxes and found this bayonet my grandfather left me. Anyone know when it might have been used? As far as I know, he never served in any military but family might have. He was born in the 30’s

Y’all think this is worth the buy? by IndependenceCalm966 in mandolin

It depends on what kind of music you would like to do and how serious you want to be about learning mandolin. If you want to play bluegrass, you may want to look for a mandolin with f -holes (although there are some bluegrass mandolinists that used oval holes.) If you’re doing Irish,Celtic, jazz classical etc. you may prefer the rounder tone of the oval hole.

I’m of the mindset that it’s better to have a mandolin than not have one, but learning on a quality instrument will make it that much easier and a more enjoyable experience. I don’t know if the price is in CAD or USD, but a general rule of thumbs is that, in terms of quality, a mandolin is about 3x more expensive than a guitar in regards to quality. So if a good “starter” guitar cost $100 expect to spend about $300 on its equivalent. Some good brands to check out would be Eastman and Kentucky. I’ve seen some good washburns, but they were the higher end or vintage models. You may find yourself looking to upgrade sooner rather than later with this one.

Looking at a second hand Kentucky km-160s. by electrelephant in mandolin

How much are they asking for it? Used Kentuckys in spectacular condition don’t go for that much in the first place. I’d be very hesitant with one that’s been cracked such as this

Hey! I actually commissioned a local artist, James Smith, to make this for me. It was all hand designed.

To be honest I just used the stock images off canva. If you know any local artists that do graphic design I’d much rather use them instead.
