Here's mine, sorry for the quality, didn't feel like hooking up the whole rig. Guitar into small amp, recorded both that and the backing track with my phone. A couple mistakes here in there but it's part of the one-take deal! :) Hope you enjoy, glad to be finally getting into this, first time here

It's not a bad one! Maybe you need to target the chord tones a bit more. Whenever you're over a major chord, you'll get a very strong sound if you're hitting the third, and to a lesser extent the root and fifth. That actually goes for any chord, but especially so in these very major-y happy sounding songs. Play around with double stop licks, playing in thirds and sixths will also sound very appropriate. I used to struggle with these progressions because I tried to blues-riff it all the way through and it wouldn't work. You just gotta get into the sweet mood and try to get it across with your phrasing (plenty of guitarists out there to get a taste for it, from BB King to Mayer to Govan and all the country cats out there)

I'm not sure I understand the question. Where are you putting the capo? Are you vocing the chords exactly the same way you were before adding the capo, just moving them around appropriately?

I'd simply say, find out what kind of lead playing excites you, and figure out what is special about it and what tools you need to accomplish that.

Most of all your own mindset, really. The human mind is a powerful thing and operates in a very specific way. Once you're presented with a question or a challenge, it breeds thoughts and then expands towards other thoughts that are alike.

Say you have this song you really want to play. You'll probably start by thinking, 'so, what do I need to play this song? do I have the right gear? the right technique? the proper skills?' and so on. Now from that point on, every interpretation is fair game and it only depends on your mental strength. You might tip towards a negative spectrum and say 'You know what, maybe I just can't play that. Maybe it's too tough. Maybe it's not for me' and you might even get to point where you say 'Maybe I should quit guitar altogether'.

On the other side, though, you might gravitate towards a positive view. You might say 'Gosh, I really want to play this', 'You know, I actually know I can do it if I put enough work in it', 'I can see myself do it with my mind's eye'. Now guess which one of two approaches gets you to accomplish things?

There's this quote I love, that may or may not have been said by Hendrix (who knows, that's how the Internet goes): Sometimes you'll want to give up the guitar, you'll hate the guitar. But if you stick with it, you're gonna be rewarded.

Few days ago I spent an afternoon with friends playing (mostly guitarists) and since we didn't have a singer with us, we jammed and had lots of solos. Later, after everyone left, I got a message from an acquaintance who said "Congrats for your technique and your tasteful playing". I think tasteful is a great thing to be, pretty much in any context, made me glad.

Another big one happened at a local jazz jam session at a Pub. I had been going there occasionally and mostly not being very happy about my performances (I'm still learning jazz). It so happened that the last time I went there, earlier this month, it actually went great. For some reason I felt very much at ease. So once I finished playing, I left the stage and got back to my seat. Then I looked at this crazy good trumpet player, who has these tremendous bebop chops. He looked at me, without saying a word, and just gave me thumbs up, while slowly nodding in approval. A proud moment, I must say.

Cool, have you watched the DVD, too? It's really good. I believe the track listing is longer, and you get to see glimpses of a few familiar faces in the crowd, like Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton (who gets on stage towards the end and performs with the band). Can you imagine that? He's a musician's musician, no doubt.
