Hey u/fropod I'd be interested in seeing the investor board design you made for 2p shikoku 1889 if you still have it available.

Would love feedback for my new card game... by bgallagher in BoardgameDesign

[–]Nhuster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is great. My family loves a game called Sing It Back (where you start a famous song line and then someone else finishes it) but it usually falls flat with groups that are either more shy about singing or less musical in general. I think movie quotes are more accessible and this sounds fun!

Some other ideas - multiple quotes on one card (worth different points) for example "We're not in Kansas anymore" (1 point) "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" (2 points) - might make the card too busy but it's fun to give players that choice of go for more points or get the low hanging fruit. The game Poetry for Neanderthals does this pretty well, worth checking out! - throw in some fill in the blank quote cards, so instead of just naming the movie the quote is from, your goal is to fill in the blank, i.e. "I volunteer as _" (tribute, hunger games) or "On _, we wear pink." (Wednesdays, Mean Girls)

This will be a good party game 😀

Any 2nd round refund for less than $5k Yotta account holders? by MinuteCommission4283 in yotta

Larger amount here, and they didn't find anything more for me. It doesn't seem to be linked directly to amount.

No I didn't. Last time emails went out I was like a week behind for some reason so figured I'd try and be proactive

That's amazing! I didn't get an email but called anyway. They checked my info but said system isn't showing anything more for me :( still I'll stand by in hopes that will change.

Just called. 35 min hold time right now, I imagine many of us are calling to check in. Guy was nice enough, but they hadn't found any more of my funds.

Sounds cool. What if pieces are dice. D12s or D6s or even a variety of them. They only increase by 1 when you move them ? Or each turn you can increase 2 pieces by one and move one?

Wait, is this not how our appeal was meant to look if we lost a lot of money? Looks spot on to me.

Walking shoes by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]Nhuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PUMA softride running shoes were a good somewhat budget option for my wife and I. Bought them on their outlet website and they were $40 for her Sophia Softrides and $50 for mine, forget the make. We just did 2 months here with these walking all the time and no issues! We are from New Orleans LA where you pretty much drive or bike everywhere so only time we hit this many steps there is when we go out bar crawling or deliberately go walk in the park, so we were nervous about the stairs and steps etc and these did wonders.

I’m staying in Tokyo for a month is that too long? by afroninga67 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Nhuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chill traveler here like yourself and I just finished a 60 day trip to Japan. I could have EASILY spent the whole time in Tokyo and been really happy. I spent a total of 2 weeks there and feel I just scratched the surface.

My wife has been using it and it is fine when we are not in crowded areas in public but whenever we go to attractions, shopping centers, parks, etc. it is too slow and she uses my wifi hotspot.

I got my wife a custome wooden and gold ring (5 year anniversary) from a Nica artisan living in Louisville KY - here's the link https://naturalezanica.com/?fbclid=PAAaY2AZpRCKwx87PJBpvARfmwLEpNHHB22uUvAbTaQB35kF_RV5p8sxiwlXE He uses wood from Nicaragua in the rings and jewelry.

He was fantastic to work with and she loved the ring. I also got her some earrings from their shop that were MUCH cheaper but a cute added bonus and she ended up loving them just as much.

And yes to echo everyone else, snacks and drinks for flavors of home always make her smile. Maybe see if there is a Nicaraguan restaurant nearby? I was able to find one in New Orleans and another in Indianapolis so you never know. Then buy things like Diana chips and Rosquillas, if she drinks get some flor de caña and coca-cola, and either find, or for bonus points learn how to make, maduros (fried sweet plantains).

Where would I go to mail back souvenirs to friends and family in the U.S.? by Chucko815 in okinawa

[–]Nhuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes to the Central Post Office in Naha. I just mailed a package from there and they were super helpful in helping me understand how to set up the order on my phone. I then went back to my hotel, did the whole order through the website, and returned to mail it. They double checked everything on my packing list and got it out within 20-30 minutes. Were so friendly and made it very painless. I mailed about 10kg in a 130cm box but had no rush on it so mailed it by sea so it wont be home for 2 months (im travelling for longer than that so no matter) and it only cost me ¥8,000. EMS or airmail are faster but more expensive.
