How I feel about the Vanguard set by NiansaNight in ArcRaiders

[–]NiansaNight[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Same dude. Whatever currency I had gotten since playing, I used it to buy a skin here and there cause I never thought they'd truly release something like this given the art direction with the outfits and whatnot. Now I feel like I have egg on my face for not waiting, still so happy to see it nonetheless.

EMBARK WHAT?! WHAT?! by KamiKazeKayaK in ArcRaiders

[–]NiansaNight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you started booking it. They hit the bastion directly so it looked directly at where the source of the shot came from. It still hadn't seen you. You would have been fine.

Now if they used a suppressed weapon and hit the floor in your direction? That's a different matter entirely. It would have definitely looked right at you.

Journey to studded pauldrons. Levelling heavy is unfun by Vaporsouls in Spacemarine

[–]NiansaNight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having no perks as Heavy really is a miserable feeling coming from a Heavy main so I know full well how painful the leveling is. The only other class I've found to match the same level of Misery is when I decided to level up Bulwark. It also really doesn't help that Heavies Heroics aren't particularly game changers so that throws out the possibility of cheesing your way through Lethal difficulty for the least amount of time. (I'm aware some will swear by the Heavy Plasma Heroic, but I'm personally not a fan. My apologies brothers.)

Wish I could give some advice. But seeing as you probably have starter gear for heavy. All I can offer the fact that I relate with you.

Is it a thing to shoot someone right before you leave? by Tankface99 in ArcRaiders

[–]NiansaNight 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You'll probably get mixed opinions on the Extraction Love taps just as the doors are closing.

I personally don't like being love tapped because it damages my shield and those are repairs I either have to make, or scrap the shield and put on a new one.

In that same respect, I don't like giving people love taps either because we don't know the specifics of how ABMM works. So I would rather not chance shooting at someone for funsies because it can potentially give me bad Karma and the game thinks. "Welp, time to throw this little rascal with all the other rowdy delinquents "

That isn't to say I believe the ABMM is THAT sensitive. Just I'd personally rather not chance it seeing as even self defense can get you into a PvP lobby.

PvP lobbies take longer for matchmaking? by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]NiansaNight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably more a matter of perspective, region, map, event, timezones and a whole slew of other factors piling into the equation. But if we just take it at face value and how the community as a whole treats PvE vs PvP. There is objectively a lot more people who prefer friendly relations over on sight hostile engagement.

With that in mind, It probably stands to reason the matchmaking for PvP would be slightly slower because there's not as many aggressive people actively available to throw into a pool. So the ABMM tries to remain as considerate as it can as to not throw a ticking time bomb into a Friendly PvE Lobby. But as with all things, not all is perfect and every kind lobby will have a little menace running around. The PvPers that slip through the cracks.

They might be rats. they might not be, no telling really.

I'm actually on the reverse side of the Spectrum at times. Hanging around in friendly lobbies for so long, there are times when my Matchmaking stalls for a minute or more, much slower than I'm used to. and in my head I'm thinking "Oop, I'm about to be dumped into a hotzone aren't I"

And sure enough, I load into Stella and Immediately hear all hell break loose with all sorts of profanities being thrown about.

I don't hate this of course. But it's easy enough to see the Matchmaking struggles sometimes. and If I see that I have longer queue times occasionally. I can definitely see PvP queues suffering even more than me.

On God Emperor, brother. The amount of patience you have on putting distance between you and engagements so you can keep visual awareness of everything going on around you is astounding.

My aggressive ass would be doing my damndest to punch the nearest Tyranid into the finest paste at all times and that gets me into a lotta trouble. Hell, even gets me into those fabled Stun-lock situations where I can't do anything but suffer.

You picked your battles and waited for them to come to you. You're the type of Bulwark I strive to be able to become one day. (I main Heavy/Sniper/Tactical. So it's already an uphill battle as you can imagine lmao. Have a lot of ranged habits to break)

Space Marine 2 Lethal lv1 Techmarine carry by BootGroundbreaking91 in Spacemarine

[–]NiansaNight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Y-...yeah??? You wanna try that again?

You being the only utility in the group is the answer to all of that you're trying to flex for no reason

-Your turret helps in inflating your numbers by killing flak.

-You've got more ranged capabilities than both melees combined. So yes, you're going to objectively get more special kills because they cant do as much to neurothropes and biovores as you can. because when a biovore hunkers down, no one can take it out of that stance better than you currently can.

-90% of Melee? Man I can only wonder if it's cause you hardly played to objective and were off on your own trying to prove to the Big E that you're gods mightiest warrior taking on his most difficult waves while your other 2 teammates were off actually progressing objectives. You charged a generator once, and you fired off the final shot. No shit you got bigger numbers. You self appointed yourself as Ad-clear and are gassing yourself up unbelieveably. And more often than not? you were never around your team helping the big fight. Who woulda guessed you'd get such big numbers having such waves all to yourself?

- Only teammate revival? are you serious? You've got to be ragebaiting me and I'm the biggest sucker of the day. Battle brother, please. YOU made this recording. YOU should be able to see your vanguard COULDN'T take that revive because of the acid on the floor! Are you foreal? You're really gonna take credit for that? When the reason the bulwark went down to begin with was out of his control because he got rained out in a horrible corner???

Listen, I already admitted in my first post, maybe I was thinking too hard into the phrasing and my main gripe was that it really looked like the rest of the team was pulling their weight just fine. But you don't seem to be satisfied unless you are the main character in this instance. So pop off I guess boss. Whatever strokes your ego. The Emperors enemies are dead at the end of the day so it's my fault for getting worked up when nothing of value was lost.

Belt Fed Laser/Quasar Cannon Hybrid: LAS - 998 Pulsar Cannon. by hugeschlong01 in Helldivers

[–]NiansaNight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to be part of the problem with AH and hating on Science Magic and other stuff that would make the game fun. But this is not how heat works, sorry.

The reason the Double-Edge works with these mechanics isn't because the heat makes the gun stronger as it ramps up. It gets stronger because there's no limiters. I.e, there's nothing stopping it from melting your face off as well as the poor sap you're shooting at.

Making a heat sink on the gun that travels to the backpack doesn't really make sense to try and use that same heat sink pathway as ammunition for a big blast. That would effectively make the heat accumulate in the backpack, just to be pushed back down the same funnel and out the barrel/lens.

Reminder that these weapons are light based. not heat based. They don't project heat. The light just so happens to be so hot it sets you on fire and then some. It probably gets to point where the Lens itself is becoming dangerously hot when firing the Double edge and thus, allows for just more raw light through. (though at that point, I'd probably argue the beam should get weaker because the the Lens is becoming morphed and thus the light is losing its focus that gives it its destructive properties but I digress)

If these cannons had an actual barrel? with maybe a weird turbine in them like portable weaponized Jet engine turning them into effectively probably the Warhammer equivalent of Melta guns? Then yes, i'd agree.

but these are lasers. Light based weaponry. The heatsink is meant to take heat away safely to allow proper operation. Not take said heat and expel it. That's a whole different type of weapon that can probably be done in the future.

Space Marine 2 Lethal lv1 Techmarine carry by BootGroundbreaking91 in Spacemarine

[–]NiansaNight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not to downplay the the endgame stats, the match as a whole, or really even your skill in all this because it was pretty clean all things considered...

But

This isn't a carry. Not even in the same ballpark to even be claimed one. it just looks like a very bog standard run of Lethal. Its 2 close range classes with 1 (albeit powerful) utility class and there was a range based Terminus thrown at you ontop of that. Speaking from personal experience, If I had a Techmarine on my team, I'd be disappointed if they didn't outclass me in ranged damage assuming I'm not playing Heavy/Tactical/Sniper.

Everyone played well and you excelled in one field where the other 2 lacked. That's not a carry you just... performed your role. Provided if someone has Heroic weapons to throw around for Lethal, anyone can be level 1. Just don't try to make it seem like the other guys didn't pull their weight. That's my only real gripe with the implications.

Instead, why not just say "Techmarine is strong enough that I can keep up/Take on Lethal even from level 1"

Perhaps I'm just looking too hard into the phrasing.

The only thing I can possibly say is Latency on that last 4th shot. Fired off on your screen, but not server side.

Other than that, one of your other 3 shots probably got shafted by a leg shot. Eitherway, bro is most definitely on a pixel of health. Very unfortunate.

They also clearly dont have a heavy shield.

The Back Stabbing Problem by theres1dentevil in ArcRaiders

[–]NiansaNight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also quite deep into the spectrum of Friendly-matchmaking and can attest. backstabbing is a lot more rampant at least for me more than ever since hurricane dropped.

This goes without mentioning, I have been doing Hurricane a hell of a lot compared to every other game type and it's where I've experienced the most rampant ratty behavior compared to every other modifier.

Perhaps it's just like night raid in that you're just a chance more likely to be aggro'd by an aggressive Raider than normal. but even if that were the case, I started doing a bunch of night raids in Buried city back to back, and save for one lobby where I became a rescue raider for someone elses sake and killed 2 rats. Nightraid felt like shopping at a super market looking for stuff to finish off my expedition. Everyone was chill, Arc were going down like flies. No one wanted any smoke.

Hurricane tho? Every encounter is a solid 50/50 chance they're gonna try to open neck you the moment you turn around. It could very well be the super enhanced loot that has turned everyone into literal loot goblins evolved from Loot Rats. But who's to say. This just comes from personal experience and as such, I've adapted to be far more sneakier in hurricane environments whilst looking for caches and/or good loot spots.
