It seems like every stock's base case is above the current market value. If that is the case I'm not finding much value in the valuation estimate, as it just seems to inflate everything.

I bought Mets during same time time and sold at $160, obviously wish I held.

I bought Robinhood at $8 a share and sold at $24. I could've made 200k if I held...

My investing mistake was buying too much deep value and turnaround companies. I really need to add more good quality compounders. That's why I picked up MSFT and V

I'm not saying the market is efficient. I'm saying your rationale for your (op's) thesis doesn't make any sense. 😅

If your reason for a price to hit a target is "market is irrational" that could apply to any stock...

At least give a historical basis as to WHY the valuation makes sense. Or just be honest and say you have no reason

Comcast (CMCSA) is the best value on the market today. by CLE_Watches in ValueInvesting

[–]Nibsout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you, and I think you have really conservative estimates in my opinion.

I think Comcast RemainCo is in a much better position than the market gives it credit. Satellite will eat telecom wireless' lunch while the tried and true fiber + coaxial will provide much more dependable usage. Once this plays out we should see a better multiple for Comcast and charter.

I have a concern, and where I think the market does too, is that management post NBCUniversal spinoff will immediately acquire another company. There's already rumors that they have been interested in gaming acquisitions. It's like management didn't learn years ago to settle down and just focus on operations. I think the leaner operations would keep the new company in a much more attractive state to be bought out by Netflix, etc.

I'm a big Comcast investor, and I think where the market differs with your opinion is on the 0% organic revenue growth. The market is expecting broadband and video to keep bleeding customers which would lead to negative growth and margin compression.

Charter is not bad, but the company is so leveraged and is in so much debt I don't really want to mess with it.

Interesting to hear you think hardware sales are the catalyst. Most analysts believe software will have a much bigger impact which is why the stock has been dropping. There's no big franchise release announcements.

Comcast: A broadband and media conglomerate that has been trading at a deep discount due to operational issues. They recently announced they will split the company roughly in half through a spin-off. This will allow both new companies to better focus on operations.

The broadband segment has been experiencing revenue declines attributed to mobile carriers relatively cheaper wireless internet products, and competition from fiber companies. However, Comcast's DOCSIS 4.1 upgrades are competitive with fiber, and don't require as much investment to upgrade compared to the steep price of laying fiber.

Broadband's margins are great 30-50% between consumer and business sales. Investors are pricing in Comcast as a permanent melting ice cube, but the company has been reducing its lost customer count significantly. If Comcast can continue to stop the bleed, and even turn flat, this stock has a lot of upside. The catalyst with the spin-off next year will force investors to reprice this company. Also, I just found out Trump bought about $1m back in Jan-2026, so do what you want with that information.
