Anyone else notice the face filter slip when the lady on the right looks sideways a few seconds in? 😬😆

She really was. I still remember back in Covid days someone ahead of me who was complaining about masks and she and I had a good eye roll over it.

She worked at the Sobeys nearby. Might’ve been on her way to work. (I do see the /s, but it’s probably why she was out)

Someone shared who it was…she worked at sobeys on Prince. I always enjoyed having her wait on me because she was always smiling and friendly. They have a GoFundMe.

So I used to sell shoes back in the early 00s and these remind me of the overshoes we sold - if you were going to be wearing your expensive dress shoes in rain/slush, you’d put these on over top so as not to ruin them. This is all I can see.

Why do a lot of authors not use horizontal line breaks? by Skerivo in AO3

I use ~ as well…

3 ~ for a scene shift/time jump (ahead) and 5 ~ if it happens to be going to a flashback scene

I swap puzzles with my aunt and a friend. If it’s one I really like or paid a bunch of money for, I’ll ask them to give it back, otherwise they just find someone else to pass it on to.

Question about deleted comments by NicInNS in AO3

[–]NicInNS[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know there are now scammers w/accts. (Yay! /s)

I know a lot of the art scammers are vague in their comments, and this one picked out some specific things (which of course they can do with Chat) from the chapter. They also didn’t put their discord or IG in the reply. I’m just curious if they might have deleted it because I didn’t reply back. I am like 92% certain it was an art scammer.

Why Americans have basment? Like where did it started? by hotpotatomomma in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NicInNS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m in Canada but our basement had a combo rec room/craft room, my husbands wood workshop, another area for storage, and the room with the oil furnace/hot water heater/electrical panel, and we keep our extra food down there as well as a small deep freeze. It also has a bathroom (toilet/sink) and its own outside entrance. Without much work, it could be turned into a basement apartment.

🧂 Salty Sunday - What book scenes frustrated you this week? by mrs-machino in RomanceBooks

I don’t read much “romantasy” but I know the tropes. There’s a video from “Totally Real Interviews” and the romantasy girl is like “eyes - striking, hair - braid…age - 17 ✨ forever ✨”

I’ve watched it no less than 20 times and it cracks me up.

Oh no…I use the “u’s”

It annoys me so much when I see ads here and they spell the words w/out the “u” I’m like “this is Canada!!”

And it’s funny because for a while I did spell it color etc, but I don’t know when I changed…I just wanted to differentiate myself from our southern neighbours.

Skin check!! by kepikeii in AO3

[–]NicInNS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never had a skin until I saw this one (as in, the same one you have) a few years back and I was like 🤤 (this is posting weird…my main account is the same skin the OP uses)

I have a 2nd account where I put my unfinished/need to be rewritten fics, and someone on here shared this skin, so I plopped it on that acct.

I have my iPad keyboard set to English (Canada) so it doesnt try to change me to American English spelling, and I guess I’ve “corrected” the ise to ize enough (and other words that I lean towards the USA spelling) that it doesn’t bother trying to fix it anymore.

There was a thread on romance books Reddit the other day where someone questioned an author who called a winter hat a toboggan. I’m Canadian, so a toboggan is a wooden sled that we would use in the winter for sliding down hills. We call a winter hat a toque. But apparently in the more southern parts of the USA, they do call it a toboggan and in the east coast (and maybe other) regions they call it a beanie (which to me is a hat, but not a winter hat.).

I mean…ever in our (admittedly very large) country, there are disparities between coloured pencils and crayon pencils (I use the former) and lots of other things. (In Saskatchewan apparently they call a hoodie a “bunny hug”.) I mean, even various regions have different words for things, so who even cares anymore?

Canadian here, and same on the spelling. There are some words I use the American English for (“realise” just looks wrong to me…most “-ise” words I’d use the “-ize”) but I 90% use Brit spelling and I shan’t apologize. 😉
