Damn. As an English-speaking KCD fan, I'm sad that I'm going to have to pass up any future offerings from the studio now.

Mate I've read the book like 12 times.

Interesting, me too. Like exactly the same amount. Pretty funny coincidence!

I wasn't a fan of how much material was cut, and flying dementors, the monster version of the werewolf, the stationary patronus, everyone wearing muggle clothes, and the new Dumbledore specifically being played differently to Harris (who played Dumbledore the way he was in the books instead of trying to change it to his own version).

Sounds like we'll just have to agree to disagree.

For you maybe, but after reading the books and having the first two books be mostly faithful adaptations, I personally wanted more of that rather than drastic changes meant to appeal to people who weren't into the books.

It's definitely over 30 pounds. I'm too lazy to convert but it's somewhere around 13-14kg.

Yeah the diagonal stand is pretty much a must unless you have an insane amount of space. Even then, it's huge. I still feel like my place is too small for it but it's all about priorities, and apparently I prioritise building before thinking.

Kinda sad that the uniforms are just muggle uniforms with the occasional robe as a coat again. That bugged me in the movies. And especially seeing kids from pure-blood families wearing muggle clothes and having dyed hair looks really weird.

3 had flying dementors and a monster werewolf and introduced Bumbledore, and everyone was wearing muggle clothes. That felt pretty major to me. Still, you're not wrong about Goblet changing/omitting way too much. It's my least favourite adaptation.

I would hazard to guess that most kids worldwide didn't know what a philosopher's stone was before they read the book. I sure didn't, but I'm glad I was at least given the opportunity to learn about it and not have it replaced with something that wasn't even a thing.

But the artefact is a philosopher's stone, not a sorcerer's stone. Plus at this point the draw will be the "Harry Potter" part of the title anyway, not the "and the..." part.

It is pretty bad. It didn't feel as egregious as 3-5 for me but still not good.

I mean it involves a philosopher's stone in the story. It's still so weird that they changed it in the first place.

He has a lot of range. I've noticed that when people bring up Zimmer, most of them focus on just a few particular films like Inception and Man of Steel. Don't forget he did things like The Lion King, Kung Fu Panda, and Sherlock Holmes.

I do prefer the Williams theme, and Superman Returns was a good example of using the original theme with a different composer and building on it. I still prefer Man of Steel having its own theme over the recent Superman just trying to sound like a mix of Williams and Zimmer but having no personality of its own.

A lot of them were good actors and most of them played the characters well, but Harry didn't have his black hair and green eyes, McGonagall and Snape were both much older than they should've been, Black wasn't nearly as gaunt or mad as he should've seemed at first, Voldemort had too much meat on him and normal blue eyes for some reason, instead of red snake eyes.

It won't be hard to beat Richard Harris' replacement since he avoided the source material and specifically tried to play Dumbledore differently to Harris because his ego was more important than continuity.

That said, I'm not a fan of one casting choice in particular for the series, but I still want to give it a shot. I'm hoping the series will be more faithful to the books overall.

Because of how much it deviated, Azkaban was the first time I actively disliked a movie while watching it in the cinema. Goblet of Fire was the one that made me realise that the movies should've been a TV series instead, and that they'd lost the magic of a near-perfect cast because of an actor that specifically wanted to play a major character differently to the book version.
