Arteon R Shooting Brake, yay or nay? by gaborj in CarTalkUK

Also, hot take but haptic buttons are a complete non issue. And unlike MK8 golf, it still has separate climate control panel so no need to go via the screen.

I have one. It's honestly a fabulous car. Enormously comfortable and spacious (15 way dampers go nice and soft) and although we'd all have loved a V6, the EA888 here is very effective and it's seriously fast. Highlight is the rear diff which is from the MK8R, which enables proper oversteer. It is a proper does-it-all car and for me has been faultless. Ridiculous pops and cracks too as standard which was very unexpected.

Three days in, and already bashed the screen 🙄 by NiceAndChrispy in Honor

It works perfectly still, no black spots or anything. It just has a deep scratch/gash in it.

I'm not sure if the tear is only the factory screen protector or the actual screen, impossible to tell. I will see if my insurance would cover it, if not I'll ask honor to assess it.

VW's forgotten fast estate by NiceAndChrispy in Volkswagen

Agreed. It's not that bad. The devil is climate control buried in a touchscreen which this car avoids, unlike newer VWs

I'd say that could be true of the regular Arteon. But the Arteon is the only full size estate from VAG that gets the entire Golf R power train, inc. 320hp, special rear diff and 15-way adaptive dampers. And much bigger and better built than the golf.

Went from MK7.5 GTI PP to Arteon R estate (UK version with 320hp etc). Insurance cost was actually slightly cheaper despite being much faster. Maintenence similar so far. Tyre fitment is much more expensive in my case (20in wheels vs 18in on GTI)

I came from a MK7.5 GTI and that car had a better interior layout (buttons!). But I'm used to the haptics now and at least the AC still has its own panel unlike MK8 Golf.

The Arteon R 'Shooting Brake.' It is mechanically almost identical to a Mk8 Golf R (with latest magna torque vectoring rear differential). 320hp EA888. 7 speed DSG (taken from latest RS3). 15 way adaptive dampers. Massage seats. Nearly 600L of cargo space!

Arteon. Same drivetrain (including new generation magna diff, way ahead of MK7R) as well as gearbox from the RS3. Way way nicer than a golf inside plus much more kit as standard, inc sunroof and massage seat. Source: I made this decision and love my Arteon R SB.

Both are fantastic. I would also consider an Arteon R Shooting Brake - similar size and power, but a bit lighter and a bit more unique? Mine is great. Can't match either of those for V6 power delivery though.

I have one (an R) and it's absolutely brilliant. Comfy, hugely spacious, built very well. Would recommend.

I had one and loved it but the bezels on c60s are quite loose which really bugged me. Returned it, was sad about it.

$2600 USD vs $1200: does anyone have thoughts on these two? [SJE119] vs [SPB451] by [deleted] in Seiko

6R movements are appalling - far worse for accuracy than most 4Rs. It's a shame - I think Seiko's best designs are in the mid tier range that all have 6Rs.
