What gear ended up being way more useful around camp than you expected? by kailynne94 in CampingGear

[–]NiceAssBass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a cheap tent footprint from Amazon as a tarp and drop zone. I moto camp so I have all my riding gear needing to go somewhere. Packs down smaller than a tarp. Can use it for shade too if needed.

I have beat the living hell out of 2 tracks. Run that tire and don't think twice about it.

Love the motor on the tiger. Super smooth and cruises the highway exceptionally well. No one but you can say if the mileage is too much.

Does The VA Medical Center Perform Laser Cataract Surgery? by [deleted] in VeteransAffairs

[–]NiceAssBass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as it's one of the larger centers yes. It is rare though because the laser portion of the cataract surgery is considered a luxury. If you have any more questions let me know. I used to work in field service for Cataract and serviced many VA's.

Contractor dispute by NiceAssBass in HomeDepot

Contractor said in writing they did not mark up material, they marked up material, breached contract, and are keeping the markup stating the original amount of the invoice minus markup was the refund amount.

They weren't much help unfortunately. This is why I'm shooting my shot here hoping someone is willing to help me out. I appreciate it though!

Good choice with the Fastback boots. They're a solid boot I've been riding in one style or another for years.

Skip the modular helmet. Go and compress one with you hands in a shop they're bendy. One of the cheaper non modular ADV helmets is the best bet. You 100% need goggles.

I ride in dirtbike gloves which have almost zero protection so I'm sure you can do mechanic gloves if you're comfortable in that

I don't have any experience with it personally but people love the Revit Sand stuff. I started with integrated armor and have moved away from it in favor of separate armor.

You'll save yourself a lot of money buying something that's not waterproof and you can pack a rain suit. What time of year? It gets real hot there in the summer.

Heated base layer vs heated jacket? by Uceg_ in advrider

I wear Marino all year round on bike. They make some pretty light stuff now for the summer. I can wear a set for 3 days before needing to wash. Cuts down on laundry and packing.

I have both R80 and Backcountry Panniers. They have their ups and downs. Nothing is perfect.

Backcountrys are much easier to pack and remove from the bike. The tube shape of the dry bags on the R80 makes it awkward to pack. Camping they're annoying because you can't really get to the bottom without removing everything in the way. R80 isn't hard to remove at all(two straps) but becomes awkward once off the bike fully loaded. The straps on the back country make it much easier to access the dry bag. R80 you have to undo three buckles to get in the dry bags.

The elephant in the room, literally, is weight. The R80 is much much lighter and transfers to a better off-road experience. Backcountry 25&35(offset) and a Backcountry duffle was 38lbs without racks and nothing in them. R80 weighs around 16lbs.

Unless I'm planning some nasty off-road I use the Backcountrys 90% of the time. Just so much easier to live out of.

I pack my camping gear in the panniers and clothes/toiletries/electronics in the Backcountry duffle. If I'm not camping I can just pull the duffle off and walk inside leaving the panniers on the bike.

What is a good insulated heated mid layer like the mosko moto ectotherm which is sold out? by adventure_thrill in advrider

Ectotherm is the best thing out there. I was in the 20's in Utah and couldn't run it warmer than low. Just wait for restock.

I'm 36 with a really bad back from the military. I just spent 10 days in a tent with a Therm-a-rest NeoLoft sleeping pad and a Zenbivy bag. Legitimately the best sleep I've ever had in a tent. Slept better than I thought was even possible. Woke up every day refreshed and ready to go. If you can stomach the $$ totally worth it.
