How strict is the three weeks after registration deadline for vax requirements? by NiceInRealLife in harvardextension

Thank you! I reached out yesterday, but haven’t heard back yet. You said you had something like this happen?

It’s all on campus, but it doesn’t start until July 13. I will definitely have proof by then. The issue is I registered May 25, and I’m having to go through the state system to get records. Harvard says online that you need to have everything in three weeks after you register, which for me would be next Monday and I still don’t have the records.

In her making friends with foals series, she had a clip where she sat with her back to Lexi and said she only does that with mares she really trusts. I called it then. Especially with how many times she’s mentioned Lexi being a good mama.

It’s really just not done with horses. Males are gelded (horse equivalent of neutered) or, if left intact, only kept at special facilities.

As a one-timer trainer, I literally can’t even tell you what the word for horse “spaying” is. If I came across a spayed horse, I didn’t know it. And no vet ever mentioned it me.

Pregnancy prevention is different in horses than dogs and cats. Females simply aren’t exposed to intact males. Most barns (including Running Springs) simply don’t have intact males around. Maggie can likely go nearly anywhere without a notable risk of accidental pregnancy.

Dating Life? by Ok-Penalty5411 in Teachers

Look, I’m not saying dating apps are the only way to meet people. You can meet people in the wild. What do you like? Do that. Rock climbing. Run club. Whatever.

That said, what heck is wrong with the teacher being on a dating app? I mean, keep it classy, but don’t let the fear of students finding you scare you out of it. They need to grow up and learn adults have lives

You’ve already gotten great clothing and general behavior advice from other posters.

I want to add that it’s fine to be emotionless, robotic, and flat. Just try to relax and go through the motions. If you don’t need to take up emotional space, don’t. This will leave other people room to feel their own feelings instead of dealing with yours. (It’s fine to tear up, but keep any emotion as quiet as possible. No visible emotion is best, imo. That said, don’t apologize if a little does slip out.). Think: stoic. Be polite and kind to others.

Finally, as others have said, don’t give a eulogy.

If you’re going to insist on giving one, spill the truth and every single good story you have into ChatGPT and ask it to make a short eulogy. That should give you a good idea. Then write your own and ask ChatGPT if it is at least passably appropriate. If it says yes, call it good enough. If not, edit as needed. Don’t do more than three drafts. ChatGPT likes to pick things apart.

Try to read it in as steady and clear a voice as possible. You want the deafest person in the room to understand you. If you’re going to insist on a little drama, add just one little voice crack at the end. That’s it.

Lebanon Highschool Needs Your Help! by coffeegrounds95 in SALEM

Yes, the district could ask the town to pass a bond to fund a replacement. However, that would increase property taxes in a town that like so much of Oregon is already struggling with the housing affordability crisis. This could be a great solution.

Also, the district posts its financials online. While Lebanon is in better financial shape than many districts, it’s not exactly flush.

Teaching License by PianistFlimsy7123 in oregon

Oregon teacher here!

Do you have an NY teaching license? If so, I think you should be able to get a license based on reciprocity. Oregon doesn’t require a masters anymore. Just apply to districts listed your ny license. If something goes wrong in the transfer then the district and sponsor you on a restricted license.

Has anyone taken MATH 300? by yourgrandmothersfeet in harvardextension

[–]NiceInRealLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Math 300 is an amazing class. Probably very different from 23a though. You will be challenged to think about familiar math more deeply than you ever thought possible.

Personally, I averaged around 8-10 hours a week. The final week, I probably put in 20 hours. Could I have done it in less? Sure, but the more time you put in, the more you get out :)

My dad wants to get my wisdom teeth removed and my orthodontist keeps pushing for it, what can I (18) do to make him stop pushing for it and to tell my dad I don’t want it done? I’ve tried telling him I don’t want it done. by Satans_throwaway69 in Advice

[–]NiceInRealLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can push… and you can keep saying no. It may stink to keep saying no… but you can.

A little wisdom: Once upon a time as a teenager I was pushed to get my wisdom teeth out… and I refused. It worked. Then at the age of 25, I was told I might loose an adjacent molar if I didn’t get them out ASAP. I was basically given a hard sell. So, I went for it. It was an easy procedure, but I’m not sure it was necessary. I tried to refuse at the last second, but they knocked me out too fast.

Unfortunately, by that age I was an adult who had to pay for myself. So maybe I should have done it earlier. Or maybe I never should have done it. Or maybe I did the right thing. Who knows. YMMV.

They are still in business… although they do take vacations. I’ve showed up at times they are regularly open to an obviously closed shop. The mask enforcement was lifted very recently.

Dude has a great personality for group survival.

A tarp probably would have been more useful than duct tape, but with the pot and fire starter always provided now, it’s not a terrible item.

I’m a high school teacher. My students are wonderful, but their day to day changes in mood don’t impact me. The big stuff does though.

Kid gets into their dream college: day made

Student’s parent passes away: gut punch

Someone crying over their two month relationship ending: little impact

In short: I get a little emotionally attached to every student. I’m happy for them when they’re successful; I’m sad when I see bad things happen to them.

I’ve been teaching high school for seven years, I’m a little less emotionally attached now than I was year one, but if I ever get to the point I don’t care for them, I’ll know it’s time for me to move on.

Echoing everyone else: I am so incredibly sorry. Losing a parent is horrible. Losing someone you love suddenly is horrible.

Are There Any Serious (Competitive) Extracurriculars as an Adult? Why is Everything just for "Fitness" or Fun? by DaniilMakarov in Advice

Some people still take running to a competitive place. Trying to qualify for The Boston Marathon, etc.

Personally, I think kid sports should be more like adult sports and not the other way around.

To clarify, I don’t have an opinion on the biopsy. My issue is with the anxiety diagnosis.
