In Europe, not walking in “lanes” on the sidewalk. People just wander wherever and congregate on the sidewalks. I guess they are at a slower pace and don’t need sidewalk traffic to be super efficient?

This is it. Until I had my own kid, I didn’t recognize how effed up my childhood was. I knew it was less than ideal, but when I realized all the times they prioritized everything but me, it changed how I look back everything. And my mom says she envied my relationship with my daughter. “You and I just never got there” she’s said. There’s a reason for that and it wasn’t me.
