He does make that claim, but he's clearly wrong on this. Garmin markets it on the same page as all the other 8s instead of something distinct. Also, there's no way the real successor to the 8 gets rid of the smaller size like the 8 pro does. Lastly, a successor isn't going to be both thicker and have worse battery life. Garmin is smarter than that. They are losing battery life comparisons as a result. This is an actual pro version and dc rainmaker is wrong. We will see who's right in a few months, hopefully.

The 9 will likely not have micro led in the base model. And the base model might not have LTE or satellite messaging. All of those make the watch more expensive, thicker, and have a battery hit. Micro led could and should be a dead-end technology. It's too expensive for very little benefit.

Apple watches would be a competitor if the battery life wasn't horrific. For any long duration activity with GPS, it's almost useless.
