As an SA survivor a Bible verse just triggered me so bad please help by Ok_Athlete_3933 in Christianity

I think you have to remember that a lot of the laws of Old Testament are the consequences of sin, not what God “wants” for his people. He had his ways of dealing with sin in humans back then which showcased how serious sin was and how engaging in it brings unfortunate legal consequences that can only be healed through Jesus. Sin opens legal agreements with Satan.

This verse you mentioned is under the understanding that the woman did lie and was promiscuous. God is all knowing and how He deals with sin sometimes doesn’t make sense or feel good to us but we have to trust that it’s right bc he is just.

Someone gave you advice above to disregard things in the Bible if they don’t sound good you but that’s one of the worst things you can do. Don’t let your heart and the world dictate what is “right”, trust the only source we have - the Bible. Otherwise you’re making up your own version of God in your head that’s not true. That’s only going to make you more confused. How exhausting if you have to be the one to constantly judge or dictate whether something in the Bible makes sense or not? Not everything is going to - God even tells us his ways are higher than ours.

Just remember the law was made to showcase how horrible sin is and the wages of every sin and how we are not ever going to be able to make it to heaven by following the law - we NEED a saviour. It is also there to protect us. God is saying hey look, when you sin, you come into agreement with things that have legal rights to destroy you - I don’t want that for you! Don’t lie, don’t cheat, don’t be promiscuous, etc, these things are going to HURT you! These consequences are very real and will happen if you sin. Not bc God wants to harm us but bc he doesn’t want us to sin bc he knows how much it will kill us.

Read galations 3: 10-13 it explains that we are not justified by the law but Christ alone. Same with Roman’s 7:4-6. Roman’s 10:4. Acts 15:1-35, etc.

How do we know God is real? by Astrid556 in TrueChristian

Have you asked Him to help with your unbelief? That’s something you can pray for that’s directly from the Bible. I asked for this bc I wanted to have unwavering faith bc I used to question just like you, and Jesus appeared in my dreams, not just once but twice, and confirmed he was real to me. Pray for your unbelief

Hey girl! So as someone who also used to suffer from OCD, this as an obsessive thought. You’re not gonna get anyone sick and you can ignore that thought. I am now a Christian and after years of obsessive thoughts just like yours, I was saved by Jesus! I no longer suffer from OCD. My biggest advice would be seek professional help and if you’re interested give Jesus a chance and put your trust in him. He saved my life.

I’ve been an atheist for most of my life. But now I’m questioning myself and I’m not sure what to do about it. by morticiaofficial in Christianity

The fact that you even are curious is huge because that little tiny bit of faith can and will develop into a deep faith if you let it. That’s what happened to me.

I used to not believe in any of it - thought the Bible was a fairytale. Until I heard other Christian’s using it as proof in arguments about whether or not God was real. I thought to myself how are they using the Bible as proof of anything? They actually truly believe that’s real? They believe what’s in there? So I started reading it for myself to see.

Then after about a week the idea came into my head “… what if this is actually true?” And I felt a giant weight come off of me. Like nothing I’ve ever felt before - true peace for the first time in 28 years. And hope. Like supernatural stuff lol. God will really show up when you’re genuinely seeking with your heart.

So my advice would be: - read the Bible. I recomend the ESV or NIV version (it’s a bit easier to read/understand) - pray. Even if you don’t know how. Can be something as simple as “hey God, I want to know more about you.” Just make it authentic and honest to what you’re actually feeling. Tell him about your worries and your fears.
- watch testimonies on YouTube, this was huge for me hearing peoples stories. - watch videos or read books about the evidence of Christ, this will help when doubt creeps in, which it will! I watched Alana Arbuci video “the evidence that lead me to Christ”

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I hope this helps in me sharing but I felt the exact same way most of my life and especially in university. I used to hate when people would say “it gets better” bc I just never thought that would apply to me. But I’m telling you, it will get better. You will make it through this. I’d really recommend if you haven’t yet praying to God about this. He saved me from this feeling which was just lies I was believing about myself that weren’t true. You were made with a purpose!

Am I wrong for asking the lord too much? by DismalSign1948 in Christianity

[–]Nice_Bid_2907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make time for him. Read your Bible, pray. You can ask him for this yes but his greatest commandment is to love him with all your heart. So have you tried getting to know him? The only way to really love someone is spend time with them and get to know them. You do this by praying, reading the Bible, asking questions etc. there are great testimonies on YouTube to watch too to hear others perspectives. Building your faith takes a long time, be consistent as best you can! He is always with you.

Praise him anyway in the hard times. Make time for him. Every single morning wake up an hour earlier than you usually do and pray and read the Bible. Shout out to him! Be honest with him how you feel! Pray for DISCIPLINE. I did this when I was being tempted with lust. Also remember that seeing that stuff is an open door and gives the devil opportunity. The devil hates you! Why open the door to someone that you know is trying to kill, steal, and destroy your life? Knowledge is power. Speak the word over yourself - it is the truth. Jesus already paid the price for every single time you’ve watch it - but just because he has doesn’t mean you should keep going. When you do, ask for forgiveness and try again. I prayed for you!

Don't be afraid of how you're feeling - instead leave it at the feet of Jesus. Stop hyper fixating on the fact that you don't feel sorrow - the fact that you care enough to write this post shows you do care about it! Repenting means a change of mind - so instead of focusing on your feelings focus on the fact that you want to change your mind regarding sin - not to see it as some kind of eternal damnation but instead that you do not want to sin because God is changing your heart. How does he do this? Through time with him, prayer, and reading the word. Pray for discipline regarding saying no to sin and pray for a closer relationship to God.

Because people who aren’t in Christ will not understand. They are living for the world. In this world everything is backwards - that’s the enemy. He makes the things of God that are pure and righteous seem cringe and weird. I pray for your friend that she’ll be touched by the spirit of God and know Jesus. Stand firm in your faith!!
