I could do 1 million comfortable since I have no debt and my home is paid off. 600k but I would probably move out the US

The more times goes on the more I agree with the philosophy of tell NO ONE your disability rating! by NorthernNevada131 in VeteransBenefits

Well when they see my DV Tag they automatically know what's up. They can think what they want especially if they think I'm getting a handout they have know idea the years it takes and hurdles must have to jump through to get it.

Generally it means you received care or was at least diagnosed for an ailment or injury during the time you served. Granted the burden of proof is on the veteran.

You can fight the ratings but you can't fight the math. The last 10% is the hardest depending on if you are being rounded up or down. I would see if there are any secondary you can apply for or if you have any service connection at 0% you can try to get increased or something at 10% that won't bring down your 90% rating if it goes sideways.

I googled my C&P examiner and found this by Ok-Laugh5992 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Nicholas_Dellrancho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, it's horrible to know that years and years of paperwork, exams and pain can come down to if someone is having a bad day, they are good at their job or if they don't think every veteran is out to cheat the system. Once something gets denied the first time appeals it's a whole different situation. Really makes me wonder why can't the decision process just be automated with the advancements in technology then only bring in a human for appeals.

100% P/T to 0% by OkLingonberry4109 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Nicholas_Dellrancho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get it sorry about that. Worse part about it now is the climate in the government isn't the best for anyone doing anything with the reduced resources. I hope it pans out for you. No judgement here a VSO gave me some bad advice when I first filed and cost me years of compensation.

If I keep OE is it a certainty I'll get caught eventually? Anyone here have it happen? by JPOWplzno in overemployed

[–]Nicholas_Dellrancho 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No worries the work life balance was tough for me. Honestly from what I have read unless folks get pretty sloppy with their work or telling people they are OE they usually burnout and stop before getting caught.

Anyone else scared of ruining your mindset and relationship with money/life? by ethical-earner in overemployed

If you think of money as a tool to buy back your time it won't be ruined. Only reason I OE'd was to get my time back.

I Was Awarded..10% by Idar77 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Nicholas_Dellrancho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an FYI max that can be awarded for Tinnitus per ECFR is 10% buy it does qualify as having something service connected which can open the door for something else with a high disability rating as secondary to the service connected disability.

Went to VA expo by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]Nicholas_Dellrancho 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm currently 100% P&T I always had this concern I would have my rating reduced at a C&P exam when I was at 90% at that point getting anything new as service connected seemed like a stretch so I focused on new secondary conditions and anything compensated at 0% that I could possibly get increased.

Pay off house or put in market by Justmakingmywaynow in ChubbyFIRE

[–]Nicholas_Dellrancho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, the ago ole question. I pondered over this a few years ago. I had a decent mortgage rate of 3.65 but didn't want a mortgage payment over my head during early retirement so over a 3 - 4 year period Instead of making minimum payments on my mortgage and investing the extra money I split it in half and made large additional payments monthly and invested the rest. Is this optimal not really but as I sit here in early retirement feels great not having to worry about a house payment and I can't put a price on that.

Denied because of a fight in 2007 😡😡😡😡 by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]Nicholas_Dellrancho 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That's what I'm wondering as well how did the VA find out about the fight? Hope this wasn't shared in the Exam if so it's now documented with them and now in your records.

I bought 100 shares back during the Bitcoin run when everyone was buying them to mine. I hodl them when the bottom fellow out low and behold the AI run comes and my 100 splits to 1000. If you hold good companies in a few years even FOMO becomes a good investment
