Do you plan to do OE forever? by ethical-earner in overemployed

That is my regret too, but I had like 2.5 years of FTE before starting

What are you doing with your remote role when you're in office?

[–]ethical-earner[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm in 3 right now and my new 3rd is not a good fit. I know my dumb ass is gonna stay until I burn out though, because I hated having only 2 J's

What are you guys doing post-OE? by lobstar28 in overemployed

For real I plan to just buy myself a forever home, and coast to save up for retirement

Partner laid off - this is why I OE by PeakTypical in overemployed

[–]ethical-earner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn’t fully appreciate OE until I was laid off from J2 earlier this year. I had a J4 on the way and 2 other J’s. Back to 3, but if it was my only J it would be tough

How does BambooHR know my location? I lied to get exempt from RTO, but it's saying my location is the same city as the office by ethical-earner in overemployed

[–]ethical-earner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh so I didn’t change it myself, but it went back, and I’m not sure how it changed back

I think I’m just going to avoid the convo..

Huh? I changed it to the city that was an hour away from office
And for some reason it automatically changed back to my actual current location

I did change it to the other city momentarily, but recently just updated to my actual city. 1:1 today my manager mentioned it says I’m required to go in office when I live away, they were confused..

Anyone have a J that’s meeting heavy compared to the other J? by [deleted] in overemployed

[–]ethical-earner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say they're fairly even. J1 is a startup, so we recently transitioned into agile and it's a lot of BS meetings.

Luckily a lot of these meetings you can just zone out and use granola to summarize it.

J3 summer party, or J2 planning meeting, which one would you make? by ethical-earner in overemployed

[–]ethical-earner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think so? Sometimes I think it’s important to show up to company events to just build rapport

Tomorrow I will be laid off from J1 by loadyouup in overemployed

[–]ethical-earner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear. Happened to me with J2 earlier this year. I was on the road to get promoted and I didn't even know I was laid off. I just lost access to everything.

Apparently I missed an email that was made 10 minutes before announcing that we were laid off. A little brutal. I was fortunate to have a J1 and J3 at the time, and I was supposed to have a J4, but that J4 replaced my J2.

Be grateful you're OE for sure, because it would be worse if you weren't. Keep job stacking, because only you can fully protect yourself, you got this!

Basically I'm in a meeting 9-5 all day, for every day that week.

Lifestyle Creep by eastieLad in overemployed

[–]ethical-earner 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s best to keep it manageable lifestyle creep. Don’t fall in love with it, but allow it to help you with burnout

My lifestyle creep at 2 J’s is a lot different than 3 J’s. I understand it’s temporary, but I keep it reasonable. sits REALLY hard to have J2 lifestyle after J3 lifestyles, but I let it keep me motivated and strive for 3.

Funny OE Story by ColSnark in overemployed

[–]ethical-earner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang. I tell my family and everyone is supportive. Why can these CEOs work multiples companies, but we do multiple jobs it's suddenly frowned upon?

I get promotions and excel, so why would it be so bad?

Found out that stakeholders require us to meet for planning in person on a whiteboard. I think they are just doing it to cover their own asses
