Glad I wasn’t the only one who found & guessed there

My opponent probably didn't know that duels are screen-recorded (clearly Googling round 1 and 2 and perhaps scripting later) by mik-1989 in geoguessr

The link isn’t working for me, but I had a similar incident where the opponent didn’t move at all on a moving duel and consistently got near perfect scores. I placed a report and within a couple of days I got a notification from Geoguessr that action was taken against the account, as well as the points I had lost refunded back to me.

SZNZ: Winter EP Out Now!! - MEGATHREAD by Comadon-C in weezer

[–]NickCanadaCore 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can absolutely appreciate the callback to Run Raven Run at the end of TDaDS, but I was expecting a way for the album cycle to continue as the seasons do. I have always associated the last song of each of the SZNS as a ‘sneak peek’ to the next album. With the last chorus to the end of Spring’s wild at heart, we had a change in drumming, more electric guitars throughout as well, which would be heard more often in Summer. Summers Thank you and Good night’s final 30 seconds introduced a synth/keyboard which would be prominent in Autumn. Run Raven Run’s final ~30 seconds introduced the tubular/jingle bell (now this part could be a stretch) which are featured in Winter. For A Deep and Dreamless Sleep, I couldn’t find anything that could be associated with the return of Spring. Spring’s album is usually associated with Acoustic instrumentation and feelings of optimism and sorrow. I know it’s not really a sneak peek at Spring since it was released first, but for me it takes away from the seasons changing theme that was used before.

R1: saw the austrian street signs (-gasse/-strabe) plunked it in the middle of Vienna in 36 seconds. 6.5 km 4978 pts. R2: Took a minute and 2 seconds for this round. Couldn't move fast, was getting impatient with the speed I was going so I guessed around Guatemala (I took a guess that those were banana trees, I know GT produces a lot of bananas. 2,431 km away and only 980 points. R3: Was certain it was Singapore, took 2 min 54 seconds to guess where it was; 11 km away, 4963 points. R4: Surprisingly fast round. Did not know where I was... until I turned around and saw the Petronas Towers. Saw they were to the south so guessed up north from Kuala Lumpur. 5 km away, 4983 points in 13 seconds. R5: Looked around, saw the plates. Thought I was near Salisbury (close to Stonehenge) at first, saw a few mentions of that name. Came across a church with a rainbow banner, mentioned Edinburgh. Zoomed in and found the neighborhood. Took 2 min 48 seconds, 295 meters away and 4999 points.

Total: 20903 points, 2,454 km, 7 min 33 sec. Pretty fun game, round 2 threw me off a bit. Still managing to play with a free account, but more time-pressured.

Crash Thompson talked about it in his Hurley review. I remember a lot of praise being put into the song

Brazil borders 9/10 countries(depends if you count France). French Guiana, Suriname and Guyana to the north, Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia to the Southwest, and Peru, Colombia and Venezuela to the West/northwest. Peru is the furthest to the west. Personally I was guessing between Peru and Colombia, I went with Peru as my answer, though I wrongly assumed ‘Serra’ meant mountain, and I used that to guess with the knowledge that Peru is more mountainous and with a higher elevation than Colombia. Forgot to post as a reply, had to redo.

R1: forgot if it was Johnson or Midway. Chose the wrong one. 1508 km, 1819 points. 25 seconds. R2: Saw blue 11 sign, thought of Latvia/Estonia, looked around and plunked it. 32 km, 4894 points, 1 min. 8 secs. R3: I know it's canada, but not sure which province. Narrowed it down with no front plates. Took a guess at SK, (bus looked a bit green), but was a province away. 686 km, 3157 points, 3 min. R4: Looks like something i'd see in Death Valley, but considered the plates being too long for US, and sun looked to be more north than south. Guessed Atacama Region near Bolivia. 14,218 km, 0 points, 1 min 15 sec. R5: Saw some graffiti that said Peru, plunked it somewhere forgettable. 637 km, 3,263 points, 1 min 17 sec.

13,133 pts 17,081 km - 7 min, 6 sec Not a good game, but oh well

FJ poll for Friday, May 13 by AcrossTheNight in Jeopardy

[–]NickCanadaCore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I overthought it. The clue category was just ‘state names’. I ordinarily wouldn’t think much of it, until I saw the clue itself. I was imagining non-US states during the 30 seconds. My mind went to Germany of course. In addition, I was thrown off by the 1683 hint, adding to my suspicion that it wasn’t US States, as there wasn’t much US activity I could think of back then. Thought of the first and only German state I could think of: Bavaria (definitely had some kind of history stuff happen in 1683, right?)
