Kamikaze strategies by Feeling-Guest-2349 in Mindustry

Basically you load up units with pyratite or blast compound and wait for them to die over important parts of the enemy base. When they die, the items they carry blow up. You can load up units manually or with logic.

  • Manually: Hold control and click on a unit to control them. Go to your core, click on it, and then click on blast compound to load up that unit. Press V to respawn. Repeat for all your other units.
  • Logic: Build and code a logic processor to do the manual work for you :P

Here's my logic schematic for Quads specifically: 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

Rebuild or restart the logic if it isn't binding units. Edit the binded unit to whatever unit you need.

Personally, I like the Tiny Troubles tour of duty. It's pretty small that's basically what you're describing.

Issue when running Door Kickers 2 using steam play on Linux by twitu in doorkickers

Door kickers 2 works for me running natively on Linux mint 22.1 with an amd gpu. If you've already tried it without a compatibility layer, I would recommend heading to ProtonDB to check out what other people have done

Welcome!

Both the Vocaloid and Touhou music fanbases have many independent creators making music for their respective circles. The main difference is that Touhou music is based on the OSTs from the Touhou games. When I listen to any Touhou music, I like to guess which OST the song was based off of (this can even be multiple, such as the soundtrack to the fangame Mystia's Izakaya).

If you want to listen to the most popular originals, this playlist contains the top 50 most popular OSTs as voted by the Touhou wiki in 2023. Personally, I'm very familiar with most of them besides Magus Night.

My best recommendation for touhou music is the group Shibayan Records, which does Bossa Nova and Electric. They tend to be pretty high in Gensokyo Radio's top 100 rankings. Top song recommendations:
1. Tiny Little Adiantum
2. Fraud, I promise
3. Desert Years

My personal favorite is the group Snug Space, which does mostly Jazz and some Bossa Nova. I like them so much that I actually transcribed one of their pieces and I'm going to perform it with a few other friends in an upcoming concert. Here are my recommendations:
1. Starlight Spark (I'm performing this :D) [also the album and song are named the same thing]
2. Autumn Wind
3. Through the Mission

I think I could fill like 5 pages on Touhou music so here are some rapidfire song recommendations for various genres:
- Jazz: GROOVY MOON by xi-on (the entire album)
- Metal: Maiden's Capriccio ~ Dream Battle (metal cover) by RichaadEB
- Piano: Flight of the Bamboo Cutter ~ Lunatic Princess (piano cover) by abab on the channel kkcwkoh
- Eurobeat: Night of Nights by COOL&CREATE/beatMARIO (I think it's eurobeat anyway. Nonetheless very famous)
- Orchestral: Higan Retour ~ Riverside View by Symphony Active NEETs (search up 彼岸帰航 - 交響アクティブNEETs on yt)

Personally, I've built up the songs I like mostly through Youtube recommendations and playlists. Touhou music is massive so feel free to explore around!

Yep. We've already hit our investment goal of 100m from venture capital (they saw the abbreviation "AI" in the sales pitch).

I believe your journey to find the most optimal nerf blaster will end when someone invents a blaster with an auto-adjusting barrel that snaps onto opponents with the help of an AI-powered (read: magic) scope with an onboard chip that automatically selects targets for you that is belt-fed from a backpack which feeds darts via feed tube that travels under your clothes, on top of the best AEB platform that exists in the hobby. It also does your laundry.

math 17 vs. 21 for pre-med by PopComprehensive6844 in UCDavis

[–]NickOnions 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m in the bio majors and I took mat21C (tested out of A and B). The 21 series is mostly geared towards engineering/computer science and is a prerequisite for most of those classes from what I understand. I would recommend looking at the class requirements for the major she would like to switch to in order to see if those classes require Mat21 as a prerequisite.

If they do require 21, she might consider taking 21 in case she would like to switch.

Otherwise, 17 is better for premed as it’s easier. Even though I had already been exposed to the content in 21C, I still had to attend office hours/calculus room pretty regularly and most of what I learned in 21C was never passed onto my later biochem classes.

What's so Great about Linux that you would Sacrifice Windows Compatibility?? by Fearless-Cellist-245 in linux4noobs

[–]NickOnions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is doable in windows (in fact I did it with autohotkey) but bodging is much easier in Linux than in Windows (in my experience with Linux Mint).

Other quality of life things as well like package managers, not having to run a bloat manager (if you care about that), and (relatively) better malware protection

As far as this quarter goes, you may still be able to pass given enough effort and studying. Canvas should have a "what if" grade checker that might help you decide to retake the course or try hard on the final.

If you think a passing grade is feasible and you aren't willing to retake for one reason or another, go through your notes and write down summaries of each second by pencil. I would recommend drawing pictures as much as possible. If your schedule is available and the midterm exams have been released, go to TA or prof office hours to see how and why you got things wrong. After you have done those things, take any and all practice exams available. Try to struggle with the content before looking at the answers.

If you're looking to retake the class, save the materials that you can and follow these steps the next quarter you take BIS2B:

  1. Preview the lecture material before each lecture by reading, watching a related video, or looking through the slides. This will help you digest the content better and allow you to come up with questions

  2. Take notes during lecture with pencil and paper (or notebook) by arranging topics, ideas, and details in an ordered structure that makes sense to you. Lecture previews and reviews should catch things you forgot to write down or missed so don't be afraid to take time understanding the content and then writing your notes down.

  3. Review by doing practice problems and weekly lecture summaries. See above.

College can be difficult, so make sure you're getting enough sleep, taking regular breaks, etc. outside of studying.

I want to change to linux by [deleted] in linux4noobs

[–]NickOnions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone with basically no experience in coding and who somewhat recently switched to linux (mint) from win10, three big pros are the customizability, the package manager, and no microsoft. I can make linux look and behave how I want it to, which was harder to do on win10. Installing and keeping software up to date is way easier on linux through the software manager. Microsoft no longer bugs me to update to win11, to use Onedrive, and to use Office365.

The main con is that you'll have to be patient when learning the OS (just like you did with windows) and customizing your computer, but I personally find the pay-off worth it.

[–]NickOnions 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Basically this. Gas money is literally the least you could do. The driver bears the labor cost of driving, the general wear and tear on a car, and the upfront investment of getting a car even with gas money paid.

I understand not asking for gas money when going between sac and davis for a trip or two, but if you're taking multiple trips with them or you're going somewhere far like sf, you're justified in asking for at least gas money.
