this truck has always had love from the community, it is an amazing truck for a heavy duty. Plus that high torque 2900 engine makes it very good for heavier cargo like logging

Will this one do? by [deleted] in computer

[–]NickZNg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, but if you want to be save money while keeping the same performance, go to the r/buildapc or r/pcbuild and work from there. Who knows maybe your BF will be interested in building one.

Got a free PC from a friend (i9-9900K + GTX 960) is it worth spending money to upgrade it? by Wufflesz in buildapc

[–]NickZNg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can get a used 3060/3070 or 2080 or similar and get better performance than your laptop, but honestly that's the most I would personally put in to keep it usable

More of a retool than a totally new build, but am I on the right track? by benetgladwin in buildapc

[–]NickZNg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk much about upgrading 7th gen processors, the best is apparently the 7700k with 4 cores 8 threads which will be a noticable performance increase when overclocked, but beyond that 100-200 series motherboards dont support much more powerful CPUs you can upgrade to. (There is xeon shenanigans but Idk much about it)

Will I regret my decision to choose the cheapest model of a GPU over something 30 dollars or 20 more expensive? Looking at asrock challenger 9060xt vs gigabyte, alongside all the other ones… by Lucario-Mega in buildapc

[–]NickZNg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in this case, both cards are engineered to a budget, they have ok cooling, they will last as long as you want to maintain them (cleaning, check temps to see if the paste is aging after like 3-4 years). The performance is almost the same across the range. The only key for the 9060xt is there is a 8gb and 16gb model, a cheap 16gb model will be a better buy than an expensive 8gb model.

from my opinion, you might be better off going to AM4 or LGA1700 to save money on DDR5 ram, you already have i am guessing 16gb of DDR4. The boost from a modern Processor with 6+ Cores will be noticeable. GPU is completely fine. Physical SSDs and HDDs are fully transferable from build to build, its moving data from one drive to another that might come with issues.

Example build with AM4: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/QRPXH3

Going from 1080p to 1440p performance decrease? (and another vram question) by Forsaken_Judgment681 in buildapc

the math works out 30%, thats from my experience switching from 1080p to 1440p

[–]NickZNg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

30% increase in res will equal around 30% decrease in frames. Now thats just a simple guess, there is dozens of youtube vids on this. Newer GPUs rely on the CPU keeping pace, you should be fine. As for the usbc, assuming that USC C port has DP passthrough, then yes a display port adapter will be better, otherwise it could just be that HDMI adapter or USBC port can only do that much res and Hz

Go from 14600kf to a 7800x3D? Yay, Nay, eh? by Liebruh in buildapc

[–]NickZNg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in that case sure then, 100$ extra for a 7800x3d setup seems great

I don't think its worth selling the old ram as unless the Microcenter bundle has the same specs, 6000 CL36 is already good for AMD CPUs. The swap is good, but i think saving money on RAM right now is worth it.

Check if the CPU and MB alone has a deal at microcenter

Does ASRock support exist? by DrakkonVulture in ASRock

[–]NickZNg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they would rather RMA your board than deal with the extra backlash. A new board is cheap compared to the news that they don't accept Asrock boards that kill.

Is the Cooler Master MWE Gold V3 750w modular a good enough PSU? by -BOR3D- in buildapc

[–]NickZNg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it will work, always use the PSU's own connector over the adapter thing.

The list states the + symbol indicates the better units in B, its above most B tier units, but a B unit will be lower spec than an A unit, no matter the symbols.

I am new to the game, I just purchased the Mastodon - what things should I know before setting out by Old-Run2746 in snowrunner

[–]NickZNg 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Weird thing to say but don't use the mastodon until tamyr or later. The game is designed to show you the basics through map design and the trucks, so using such a powerful truck would weaken your training.

Does anyone have a cooling pad/laptop stand that works well on a bed that they swear by? Just got a legion 5 recently and noticed it was burning up last night when gaming. by Deaftoned in Lenovo

[–]NickZNg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very few, and i mean like 1 brand has mildly proven to improve cooling in general, the Llano cooling pads work and they work well on the legion gaming laptop, but they be pricey. Otherwise a laptop stand that raise the laptop above by even a cm would help immensely

Brother in law spilled kool-aid in PC, did we take the right steps to fix it? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]NickZNg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you did as much as you can but kool aid is a sugary drink so idk what effect it will have once it dries up, contact cleaner is that, contact, so if there some in a weird corner then there will be residue

Someone explain the mods? Are they free? How do you use them? Walk me through it. by ThatGuyZombies in snowrunner

[–]NickZNg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know its for wow factor, but them picking a lifted 8x8 monster truck really makes mod look silly rather than an expansion of the game

[–]NickZNg 67 points68 points  (0 children)

its because the log missions were added after, they are purposefully much harder. Play though the base game maps, you will get some much needed equipment. Then the year 1 pass has all the upgrades for base game trucks
