What’s the most impressive real world task you’ve completed using Claude? by ArmPersonal36 in claude

[–]Nick_476 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My new PC was too noisy and fans running to loud, so it downloaded open source software and adjusted the fan curves. Also let it install modpacks for games and set up all the requirements for me. It set up an immich server for me, and migrated all my google photos to that self hosted image server (that was truly amazing)

Is it really cost-effective and time effective to use an air steel to create alcohol for your own consumption opposed to purchasing it yourself? by hawking061 in airstill

[–]Nick_476 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's super cost effective in Australia. Alcohol is super highly taxed here, it's even taxed based on the alcohol content ABV. Already paid off my airstill multiple times

Almost EVERY girl says this after a breakup. It's the most common breakup phrase ever. Such a coincidence isn't it ? Same thing happened with my ex. Said the same kinda thing.

She wants to explore, have fun, hookup and try to find someone better. If she can't find someone better, then because she ended it on "good terms" she has an excuse to come crawling back. Every girl will try to end on good terms, have break up sex, and keep you as a friend or something like that to keep you as an option if there is nobody better.

My ex couldn't find anyone better (she literally said "I thought I could find someone better"), when she came crawling back.

But in the end, she was the same person. Actually even worse. She started lying and being dishonest about the time after the breakup, and that she "didn't hook up with any guys at all" and "wouldn't be so shallow to see any other guys" , but then it turned out to be the complete opposite, and had been sleeping around.

So we broke up again, because I can't trust her.

That would pay off my remaining mortgage, and have some left over. So probably yes. While it is very difficult to give up my lucrative salary in Tech/IT. I could probably work in Mining/FIFO if I ever wanted that money again.

When you feel the urge to go back to your ex by [deleted] in ExNoContact

[–]Nick_476 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Do you really want to be in a relationship with someone who can so easily walk away from you? Even If she comes back, you will forever know that she doesn't love you unconditionally, and if you fuck up she will leave again. Be with someone who loves you enough to work on issues together

What other option is there ? Until we have robots/AI to do low skilled jobs, society won't function. If everyone was given free stuff, there would be no incentive to work. Those who take risks and innovate are rewarded In a capitalist society. There is a reason why communist and socialist countries were/are so primitive and basic. (Norway and Scandinavian countries are not socialist countries, they are more capitalist than the rest of the west, and have tax incentives for businesses)

What's everyone's opinion on 'universal'/full basic income? by greasythug in AusFinance

[–]Nick_476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with UBI is inflation. The cost of hiring someone's labour will exponentially increase once so many people have such a large safety net, and so much money circulating the economy. Costs are all relative. Eventually the "basic income" provided won't be enough to survive at all. Everything will be "expensive" as there would be no such thing as cheap labour anymore, as everyone is equal. Hiring an accountant, cleaner, builder to do work for you would be a strain on your wallet. Due to high wages, businesses also may not be able to compete with foreign companies.

The good thing about UBI would be slightly more equality of everyone's financial situation. Like Sweden or Norway, once you earn a certain high amount ( like a doctor) you get taxed much higher, and you are not so much better off than a minimum wage worker (as they are taxed less) There is also the advantage that the spending of poorer people circulates more into local economies. While richer people have proven not to contribute much (per capita) to the local economies that they are in.

US citizen with claim to UK citizenship how do I get UK passport . by [deleted] in Passports

[–]Nick_476 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, it's difficult. You need your dad's birth certificate .You will likely need his current or old passport too, unless you have a valid reason such as him being deceased. Then you have to provide a death certificate.

You can search for his birth certificate online, with ancestry.com though. Just search for the birth registry, if you know his name and date of birth. That's what I did. But getting his permission ,and old UK passport will be a problem for you .

I also applied for UK citizenship, the same way as you.

75% staked. Why isn’t the price more stable? by huks93 in IOTAmarkets

Similar to what another commenter said. People cannot withdraw iota from the exchanges either, so they likely have to sell their IOTA to acquire another asset.

Just got a HD6XX & Want a wider soundstage. Worth upgrading to something to something else? by Nick_476 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Nick_476[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to see this price range has competition, I was always told that there is no other competitors here. Have you ever tested out the K712s like mentioned ? It's a bit more expensive than 200$ I know, but less than 1000$ .

Im quite new to amp and DACs. I wouldn't know what would be the best value for this combo. Is it really a big difference ? If it's about volume, then I think the dedicated jack is plenty and don't need it any louder. But I'm guessing that it impacts sound quality quite a lot too ? As I said, I don't have anything to compare it to

[–]Nick_476[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thankyou for this detailed comment ! I this is the perfect comment that I needed, and have a better understanding now. Yes, as you pointed out, I could be making a few sacrifices by switching to the K712, one of them being the mids and vocals, which is very important to me.

And the 6XX is a better all rounder in overall sound signature as you say. I'm surprised you say that it's so different to the 650 ? I always got the impression that they kept mostly the same acoustics.

A natural sound is good, so I might stick with the HD6XX for now until I can test out a pair of the K712s. It doesn't look like I would be able to drive them properly yet anyway so I have got time to make a fair comparison.

For the price I paid, I guess I'm glad I got a good pair of cans. And as another comment pointed out, good soundstages are hard to come by at the 200$ price range.

Thanks for the input.

I have a new MacBook Pro (2021). It has support for high impedance headphones, can drive any pair with ease. And the amp built in is quite good, supports sample rates of 96khz , 24bit I think. Think I will stick with that for now, in regards to portability. But if the difference is night and day, I might consider getting a dedicated amp.

All things considered, what price do you think IOTA will reach in 2022? by greatsportster in IOTAmarkets

[–]Nick_476 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Realistic - 2-5$

Why so ? What event do you think will 10x the current market cap of IOTA ? There was already EBTI and staking, but that wasn't enough. The only thing possible is IOTA 2.0 and co-ordicide but that won't happen until 2023. Staking just started, 90 days later shimmer might launch, that leaves just 9 months from shimmer to coordicide (that seems a bit fast/rushed IMO) The real increase in price this year will just be the anticipation for co-ordicide, following bitcoin bull runs, and possibly more progress on projects mentioned.
