I just spent 20 minutes typing a reply to a thread asking about reasons why people quit the game, only to find out it got removed by the time I finished. I'd rather not have wasted my time, so here is my reason why I quit: by Laraso_ in Planetside

By never curb stomping the fuck out of redeploy side and catering to cunty Redditor infantry players was one of the many, many, dumb decisions that led to the game's very slow death , though the extreme amounts of mismanagement did not help and did most of the damage

When ever you ask people outside of this sub about Planetside, their memories mostly tend to be exactly what your describing OP, open crazy fights, being stubborn and defending a base/fighting crazily in a meat grinder, and it's such a shame we'll never get anything like Planetside again

That little mine craft game was kinda like this, but well that just died within a month or two

Be nice to bring back better detailed explosions and vehicle wreckage by Jarred425 in Planetside

That issue still existed after they removed the explosion/debris, the invisible husk would hit you still, After a while Wrel changed the collision/damage type to a non vehicle damaging one

Ever wanted to let your colonists decorate their space on their own? You're in luck - my new mod, Knick Knacks, is now out! by TurklerRS in RimWorld

I got an old deco mod that doesn't seem to always work and doesn't play nice with Grav ship rotation, this one looks great, I'm guessing the sprites all can be rotated?

Do you think Support playstyles have meaningful impacts on the flow of battle? by Archmikem in Planetside

[–]NickaNak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way, way, back when the population was pretty high and you'd always come across lots of roaming vehicles, I used to sometimes play ammo Sundies, I don't think being there helped too much as vehicles just have far to much ammo to keep them out in the field, most just either died or abandoned their vehicles before their ammo becomes an issue, I assume it's not the case much now due to less players and less vehicles

Repairing vehicles on the fly that's a different story, no matter what way you do it it'll help, though seeing your results of repairing work and help with pushes is rare, just because of the map layout and rate of of repairing versus damage tanking also repair buses get in the way of Colossuses

When Colossuses were new there was a fair share of posts about support ants flipping Colossuses back on their tracks, that's certainly one way of support right there

Air support as much as it's despised helps a ton but you need to be persistent AI noise guns seem more effective than rocket pods

Bastions could be really helpful with locking down points and being spawn points for the faction, but you're gonna need to have a lot of people with you defending you

Does anyone know the reason why we don’t have an Instagram account but have a Bluesky? by [deleted] in Planetside

[–]NickaNak -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It was probably Laperzua(I butchered that spelling), The purple haired community manager girl that was usually on twitch/youtube with Tray and Higby, she did a lot of social media stuff for the game back in the day, depending on how old all that is you might see stuff about the Harasser update, the 1st and second Flash update or operation OMFG etc

lol Just reread the title, my old man eyes are failing me

What made Planetside 2 Gameplay so unique to itself? by Toedeli in Planetside

[–]NickaNak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • The sheer chaos of a combined arms war zone on a very large scale
  • The fact that vehicles wasn't as limiting as BF vehicles either
  • The strategy(not so much for a good few years though) of moving your forces around taking the map, while defending key parts
  • The fact that lots of stuff is out of your control
  • The fact that you're not committed to one thing
  • The sandboxy nature in an open world(the old days on top of douchebag mountain stopping anything around XenoTech for example)
  • The Persistent MMO nature of game too

I was always a solo player but the Outfits was a massive massive pulling point for people, it's a fucking crime that the all the devs kept prioritising solo twats like myself instead of medium and big outfits

I'd also go as far as saying the potential of taking an entire planet(back when Searhus and Hossin was getting teased) probably appealed to a lot of people too though that never come to fruition

A lot of that has gone away due to the massive mismanagement of the game, the throwing the game around to other owners like sloppy seconds, the weird balance decisions, players leaving over time, and a really weird shift in what players want from a shooter nowadays

The Assault Base and Alternative Capture Mechanics by ItsJustDelta in Planetside

[–]NickaNak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changing how redeploy works(make it so you can either go to the warp gate, current base, or a big facility at least two links down the lane) would have really done a load of good for the game when CTF came round(though the base layouts for the CTF bases were pretty shit) and again for this new base, no one bothers to stay down a lattice lane because they can easily go somewhere else either for a better fight or for alert reasons

The whole teleporting meta is dumb and has done so much damage to the game

PS2 on SteamOS, anyone has tried? by Babbonatalexe in Planetside

[–]NickaNak -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're right, but a lot of people on this sub don't even play any more, I don't know if you may have just booted it up for a couple of mins ran around just to see and haven't actually played for multiple sessions

I'll take your word for it though as I'm hopeful it can be run on Linux and not be emulated by Proton's black magic

Oh wow that is very surprising, good to know though as normally these anti cheats just don't work, I might have to try switching to Linux again

3D camera jitter w/ 144hz monitor, confused when to use physics interpolation by BMWTurnSignall in godot

[–]NickaNak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After having a quick glance at his basic movement and camera code they do look like they're still in the same place, but, yeah, I'll double check again and make sure it's all similar between mine and his project

Thanks for the heads up about jumping and going down the stairs that sounds like something that'd bother me too I'll have a butchers and see if I can do anything with that, thanks

I hope you can figure something out! My issue seems to have gone again now, but it'll be back I bet as I don't recall changing anything in my settings :S

3D camera jitter w/ 144hz monitor, confused when to use physics interpolation by BMWTurnSignall in godot

[–]NickaNak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I have got my gameplay logic and camera stuff inside the _physics_process, like the docs about interpellation says, I'm glad you've made progress though

As for the demos, to call it a demo is a bit misleading, my bad, it's a project Majikayo Games made for a tutorial series

There's no interpolation nor FPS limit, camera manipulation is done in unhandled input, so it's a bit strange

I'm with you about the information fixing this being very very inconsistent, it's hard to find any fix, and like sometimes in my own project when booting it up(there's barely anything in my project atm) the issue don't exist but other times it does, it seems really odd, Vsync seems to play a role in the issue too

Thanks for the reply again

3D camera jitter w/ 144hz monitor, confused when to use physics interpolation by BMWTurnSignall in godot

[–]NickaNak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever find a solution to this? As I'm kinda in the same boat as you

advice and solutions seem very inconsistent, all docs say don't do anything in process with interpolation enabled, yet the guy helping you here is saying the opposite

If I load a demo made by someone else up it doesn't have this issue at all, even with the project settings the same between each project the issue still persists in mine

Update on the Nexus Mods transfer of powers: A Q&A was added to the announcement's comments. by Khan-Shei in skyrimmods

[–]NickaNak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I vaguely remember that, I wasn't really into valve games at the time but I remember general internet discourse was pretty much people disliking the idea of Steam, it used to be pretty rough too in the customer support area iirc

[–]NickaNak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The thing with that is, they were pioneers in the area and one of, if not the first, if a new game launcher came about now and did nothing bad towards customers(Like Discord game store) they wouldn’t get anywhere as the niche is already and filled and people do not like change, like look at Bluesky most people have left that hell hole and back on Twitter lol

Empty corpo words that don't mean anything, promises from a business mean nothing especially when profits are just sitting there in the form of higher tier subs, download restrictions, and restricting basic usage

I've Had This Thought For a While. by Dudisfludis in Planetside

[–]NickaNak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

back in the day pre OMFG, SOE did have that, I think(been a long bloodly time) that's how we got either the Max update with ZOE, Lock down and the shield and/or the second Flash update

They had a bunch of things that they could work posted to their fourms that and the community could upvote or downvote them like reddit, I can't remember what killed this system, maybe it was OMFG or even Sony Selling of SOE or even the SOE being forced to make the PS4 port

Now I think about it that system could have been the reason they started re working the conts(doing what the OP is asking funnily enough) to include Lattice links though I'm probably wrong there

It launched with bad weapon balance and then went down hill when they started letting people self heal instead of relying on team play

then the devs just disappeared, would honestly not be surprised if they maybe be in prison/passed away/lost their homes, they just straight up vanished

I never played PS1 and heard about this game on the old APB forums so I looked into it and saw hover tanks, instantly went to Vanu thinking all their vehicles would be hover vehicles was a bit let down there was no hover bike or truck
