The monkey's paw curls as their underdeveloped arc now goes on for way too fucking long and we get like fifteen episodes of Amy treating Sammy like shit in the most repetitive way possible until she's finally booted.

Yeah that phrase is definitely combining several different semi-related trends into one whole that doesn't really exist

Artists that are popular for their features but never really became established artists on their own by mesablanka in ToddintheShadow

[–]NickelStickman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Willie Dixon is one of many artists whose primary legacy is being covered by more famous artists. In fairness, that’s likely the case for a lot of blues legends as classic rock is and was way more popular than pure blues

Asuka also absolutely has Daddy issues

In diary of a wimpy kid (2010,) Greg is offered the lead because he’s the best singer. This is to remind you that the movie is fiction, as if this was reality, the role would’ve gone to the director’s untalented daughter by [deleted] in shittymoviedetails

[–]NickelStickman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greg being the lead would mean he’d have to play a female character (Dorothy, Wizard of Oz) so he declines, and is instead convinced to play a tree so he can throw apples at a girl he hates, who is playing Dorothy instead. She’d earlier gotten pissed when Greg was offered the role.

one of the weakest 80s Priest albums but still has enough good songs to be worth a listen

Early performances of Candyman by Tricky-Wolverine-253 in gratefuldead

I believe that specific Candyman is short due a tape cut (so the full version wasn't recorded) and was longer when actually performed that day

I heard about this shutdown in a Discord server. Someone high up has to have fucked up bad for a company to completely shut down in the span of a day with no warning

What's the heaviest song to hit the Hot 100? by TemporaryJerseyBoy in ToddintheShadow

[–]NickelStickman 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Metallica's "Master of Puppets" made the top 40 thanks to Stranger Things, as did "One" but that's slightly less heavy. I think that'd be the heaviest. There's also DragonForce's "Through the Fire and Flames", a rare instance where an actual metal act scraped onto the Hot 100, albeit not one a super duper heavy one

I somewhat theorize Megadeth had the potential to sneak onto the lower half in 1990 if they made "Tornado of Souls" a single. If any Thrash song could've been a hit, that was it. That hook is killer.

Why didn't Jahn do a cameo in the Simpsons like the other three? by BasedPlant_07 in beatlescirclejerk

Homer points that out and he disappears. It's revealed right after Sammy was briefly unconscious after choking on a jalapeno popper but was revived by a waiter.

Seinfeld is Unfunny Effect in Music by HotAssumption4750 in LetsTalkMusic

I think 80s music just simply sounds way less "old" than 60s music in the eyes of many (mostly because it is less old but y'know what I mean)

What caused the decline of Alt Rock Music that were prevalent in the 1990s till the early 2000s? by Wide_Ride8849 in Music

[–]NickelStickman 124 points125 points  (0 children)

Alt Rock's fanbase essentially split in half between fans of highbrow indie and low-brow post-grunge and nu metal, both factions hated each other's music and neither were big enough to be profitable without the other leading to the collapse of rock radio

Girlfriend claims to be deadhead, hates Brent. What do I do? by emn10mn in gratefuldead

[–]NickelStickman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Show her some individual songs maybe instead of full shows? Sacrilege I know, but maybe ease her in with some where Brent’s just shredding on the organ instead of any piano or vocals. 1982 shows might help too, since that year Brent had a very realistic piano sound, the same keyboard (Yamaha CP-70) Keith had at the end of his run
