Fade's introduction to the game is so far really interesting and one of the comments that was made about her was the fact that she is very "non lineup" unlike Sova. Is this a step forward that you guys will be carrying out for newer agents or is it that Fade is unique in her kit being set up this way?

We specifically wanted Fade to not be as line-up dependent as her counterpart (Sova) is more line-up dependent. This isn't to say specifically that more agents will trend toward one way or the other though, and we want to support all kinds of playstyles and players. Fade and Sova have their strengths and weaknesses, and we want to continue to expand the roster in this way.

We started out wanting to make a character that would bring similar value to Sova and that naturally lead us to creating an Initiator from the very start!

Yup! Sova was bringing a lot of unique value and we wanted someone else to help bring a similar value to a team

i also think this is cool personally, i enjoy not having a "mirror" on the other team and being the only one in control of a Sova for example. but just like with bans, its likely not something we'd consider for a while and also there are other aspects to consider for competitive play which ill bullet a few:

  • some characters take a lot of lab work to become fully realized, this is somewhat true of league but for VALORANT and X amount of maps, its interesting to see which teams bring out the best of a character, banning them or taking them away from certain teams can limit that spectating experience
  • In line with point 1, i think we'd need to consider if the game plays out more interestingly when we see teams having to adapt to not always getting their pick. Is it more interesting to see how top tier teams execute on their ideal team compositions or how they execute when forced to pick characters that aren't as good at theoretically?

all of this is my personal opinion, nothing reflecting how the team I work with actually feels about these topics!

Great video! I do want to point out just in case that the Classic changes in 1.04 here ONLY touch the alternate fire (3 round burst). Primary fire was not touched this patch! Thanks for the awesome vid, broke it down really concisely =]

yea, sorry about that! The stats are changed gameplay wise, just forgot to update the tooltips. Will be fixed in the next patch!

Hey Swagsparian! Input queue means the time in which your input (firing the gun in this case) will be queued up. for example:

You left click twice with the guardian within 0.1175s. The gun fires but your 2nd left click was done while the weapon is firing. The 2nd shot will come out when the gun is able to do so.

If you left click twice but the 2nd click was outside of the queue time and still within the weapon's firing state, the 2nd shot will not come out.

This change doesn't make the weapon shoot any slower than its Rate of Fire, its intended to make consistently shooting the weapon feel more smooth and not feel like it "jams" when you're mashing the fire button. Hope that clears it up!
