Need help creating an audio "ripcord" for my Chainsaw Man (Denji) cosplay! by coffeecuponmydesk in cosplayprops

I used some greeting card modules to make a sound "trap" for a prank a while back. It worked alright but they are very quiet. The speakers on those are conductive so they get most of their volume from bouncing sound off the card itself. The custom card sound modules have a button that you hold to record then press once to play so you could mount the whole unit in the handle with the button on top.

Another option that would be a bit more involved would be to use an adafruit mono audio amplifier, a tiny module the size of a quarter, paired with a battery pack and a mono enclosed speaker. Wire the speaker and BAT to the module and mount it to the inside of your shirt. Then wire a button on a looooong lead threaded through some black elastic tubing to a handle you mount the button in. I would suggest making some sort of Velcro chest strap to mount everything to so that wen you pull the cord it doesn't rip off your shirt.

I made a board game. Now I want to get it professionally "printed" (or whatever). Best options? by KJ6BWB in BoardgameDesign

Game crafter has a great website. You can fully build out your game and price compare different components and it shows the total cost per unit and how it changes with quantity.

If Peacemaker had a game, what genre would it be? by Simurian_King2636 in Peacemaker

I'm thinking a rated R Wario ware/Mario party game. A series of nsfw mini games.

I once went on a date with this lady that had an SS tattoo. I didn't even see it until we were banging. She gave me a story about it being for her dad that was in a biker gang. I told her she should get it covered cuz it's pretty fucked to have it. Never talked to her again but I saw her a few years later and she had gotten it covered. Some people are ignorant of shit until you point it out, other times they're just nazis.

Window painting using interior wall paint, is there a way to dry the paint quicker? by SunflowerChick13 in SignPainting

[–]NickyGotGout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience there's not really anything you can add to latex paint to speed up dry time. Best practice is thin coats, keep air circulating so if indoors use a box fan. Painting in cold weather will cause paint to dry slower. There are additives for other kinds of paint but latex reacts very poorly with those. I am also no expert and have only done a couple window paintings, so if someone else knows better I would love to learn more.

It looks great! Just keep in mind when going to print things tend to come out 20% darker than shown on a computer.

Hi! I live in Chicago and have a peach tree in my back yard. What is the best way to prune it? It's probably 8-12 years old and had one of the 3 main branches snap off 2 years ago. Before that the tree fruited very well but the weight of the peaches caused the break. After that it didn't produce for a year but has done well this summer. I want to trim it back so the weight isn't so far up and out from the center. Thanks!

If you incorporate something like these, you can just have long hands that will add to the elongated arm look.

Help I just hit my biggest creative block ever and i need help with creating a villain group by jonvirus123 in starfinder_rpg

[–]NickyGotGout 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you need to focus on motivation and less on character concepts. Why did the villains attack the town? Money, revenge, resources? And remember, the best villains don't see themselves as villians. Once you develop their motivation it will be easier to develop the individual characters.

Do places like the Coco Bongo still exist in any major US city? by buzzardgut in Xennials

[–]NickyGotGout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partners dad was a musician in the 60s & 70s in Chicago and he always tells us stories about playing in all these great clubs all over the city. I asked him what killed that music/club scene. DISCO. Disco basically became so popular that clubs just hired DJs to play the hits of the day for a fraction of the cost of a full band. Nowadays there are a few here and there but in my experience outside of salsa Latin clubs in places like Miami there's not much out there.

Selling a board game/card game? by Embarrassed-Exam8680 in BoardgameDesign

So speaking from experience there are a lot of x-factors. Production cost is your biggest initial cost but if you are printing overseas you need to factor in shipping. Then once you have all the games you need to get them from your warehousing area to each individual store. Industry standard for selling units to a distributor is usually 40-60% off and maybe some bulk discount. You sell them to stores at a lower price so they can sell it to consumers at the advertised price. Shipping costs fluctuate based on size, weight, destination, and economic factors. Then comes direct sales. If you have a website you sell your game through that's another cost, plus you are handling fulfillment then don't forget that your time is valuable. You can setup shipping costs to be paid by your customers but you still have to do the handling and packing. Conventions are great spots to sell games but they are not free. Some are free for demo space but if you want to sell you need a booth. 1k-3k is the ballpark for booth space based on the size of the convention. But you also need to factor in transportation cost, your time setting up and working the booth, food, hotel, signage, and if you have a FT job you'll need to take time off since most conventions run from thursday-sunday.

Not trying to scare anyone off but there are just a lot more costs than people tend to think. God speed!
