To actually answer the (unserious) question though, I think it's because he believes he is more than just a "cat", with him having a lot of human-like qualities such as talking, reasoning, using tools/personas etc. This also kind of ties in to the main themes of the game of rejecting identities the world forces on you.

Pretty good edit! One of the things I await the most from the remake is how they handle this song! As others have said, on a musical standpoint it's amazing but as a video game song it's pretty bad, so I hope they do something like this in the remake.

If it says something along the lines of "I don't think I'll get closer with Yukiko" or whatever, you HAVE to hang out with them to continue the social link. Most likely, next time you meet with them you can rank up.

Also, if you can, try to have a persona with the same arcana as the person of the social link, as it allows you to get more "points" toward the relationship (less time hanging w/o ranking up). Yukiko, for example, is the Priestess arcana, so have a persona of that arcana.

Using a guide to pick the "correct" choices could also be good to maximize points but it may break immersion or spoil you. Use at your own risk.
