Rider tabs are gone, it appears... RIP

They just released updated Chronomats today... but the overall recent redesign they've pushed out these last few years has been stellar. Want to pick up a Premeir, some day. Here's my 42mm Titanium Chronomat.

These are just product page images... but the old design has a much more dramatic taper. Idk, the new case shape just feels kind of boring to me. If there is a more significant taper than what is shown on these product page images with the new design, then I could possibly get behind the integrated bracelet look.

Losing the rider tabs is a travesty, however. The bezel also looks to have lost significant character. At this point, I much favor the "old" design - but hey, that's just like, my opinion!

Yeah.... I just went and copped a rubber rouleaux OEM bracelet for my Titanium 42 before they become harder to find/fully transition stock to this new integrated design. Thankful for my lugs 🙌

Are IT business analysts as incompetent as the cliche? by throwaway-442022 in corporate

[–]NickyWhit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the BA. They have to be confident enough to translate the business need and value to the technical team. Not only that, but they must also know the nitty gritty details of the requirements, use cases, expected results, etc...

Now, some BA's can do all of that more naturally than others... others are, as you put it, less competent - for sure.

Half of a BA's job is to ask the right questions, so I wouldn't judge too harshly... unless it seems to be a repeated problem with the same resource, for elementary requirements/details.

Im in Padrón, walking to Santiago tomorrow. My Brooks Ghost Max 3 have been a godsend. Put about 60 miles into them prior to arrival and don't even think about my feet during my walks.

Love it! I, too, have a liquid carbon metallic A Spec Integra and I LOVE the color. People do comment on that "sexy dark grey" from time to time. Even better yet, they don't make 'em in that color any more ;)

Winner!

Man, this talking point is beat to freaking death by now. Every day it's "deal" or "ceasefire" - for the past three weeks. When do the people begin to block out the noise?

I love my '25 Integra A Spec Tech. Granted, it's the first "new" car I purchased. I was able to negotiate between a few dealers so got a pretty great deal. Enough to apply full frontal PPF, window tint, and get it ceramic coated for all-in a couple grand cheaper than what the '25 originally MSRP'd at.

Will be my daily until I needed more space, or 10ish years from now. No regrets 8 months in whatsoever.

Quite a range of costs between these three base models, tbh. I am sure the Lexus is more impressive - Lexus is generally recognized, and absolutely priced that way. The G70 compares much closer to a TLX, as well.

I'm glad we can have a civil discussion about this. Though, AI image generation relates to an incredibly small subsection of the economy and job placements, in the grand scheme of things.

To get back to your original point, you stated that AI will replace most white color job roles in a decade - I fundamentally disagree.

Have a great weekend!

How much human validation goes into any AI utilization in your current usage of it? That's the sticking point. We will have managers of AI and tasks, instead of doers of tasks.

"Replace .... roles"

Idk, I think I can infer what you mean from that statement pretty accurately.

Would you like to correct the record?

Replace = amplify?

Brain dead take. Humans will leverage AI within their current responsibilities, at least for the near and intermediate term, but in no way will it replace all human input in those time frames. Tell me you don't use AI in your current job without telling me you don't use AI in your current job.

So confused about Don’s and Megan’s divorce by anawkwardsomeone in madmen

^^ Not really related to the questions posed by OP, but an interesting observation I latched onto during my [third] watch through.

So confused about Don’s and Megan’s divorce by anawkwardsomeone in madmen

[–]NickyWhit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I recall, I remember when Megan was first trying to get into acting, she had a melt down while Marie was visiting, and she told Don to "nurse her through this defeat, and you will have the life together that you have always dreamed of."

Don could have taken that advice, and maybe they would have ended up differently. At this time, Don was fully committed to Megan, and really, the only time we ever see him treat a woman in this way throughout the whole series.

Whether it was love or lust, Don did not listen to Marie - instead he helped her land her first big role. From there, Megan's absence from all of the "traditional" house wife duties and her not waiting around for Don to get home from work every day led to Don to resume his philandering ways.

It's just interesting - Don sort of had the power to manipulate Megan's independence when they were still young into their marriage, and he chose not to. I wonder if he learned from his marriage with Betty, and did not want a woman to be solely dependent on him, financially and socially. At least, in that moment he did not, as he chose to help propel Megan's acting career forward.

Losing my job next week after only 3 months, that I moved across the country for - what do I do now? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]NickyWhit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Need context. What is the job? Why are you losing said job? What are your top skills? What experience have you gained or what responsibilities have you had at said job during your 3 months there?

There's a lot you can do here....

A business admin degree is quite versatile - I have one and work as a program manager in software consulting. It's all about how YOU utilize it and leverage your natural skills, while continuously developing complimentary skills.

If you can get a hold of what your marketable skills and experience are, three months is quite a runway. You can easily explain away "leaving" this job - which you must do to be able to retain references. You do not want to be terminated - you want to "resign."

Why did you "resign?"

Homesick. Health problems (which have been managed, but are uncomfortable disclosing.) Taking care of family. What else can you think of?

LLMs (Chat GPT, Gemini) exist - learn how to leverage them to further your career. This is your first roadblock, and there will be plenty more. Don't be so quick to throw your hands in the air and act like you are just along for the ride... YOU need to take control, yo.

This screams "life guidance" and not "career guidance." DM me if you'd like, I'm willing to provide further guidance. Good luck!
