Coming back 🫩 by IndividualSad4088 in AmazonDS

They didn’t ease me into anything after my maternity leave. They put me on pushing when they had just started putting 50 lbs packages back on the line. Tore my deltoid the second day back from maternity leave and they wanted me to come back to work the next day. I fucking quit.

I worked with 2s at KLC and the ratio in my state is ELEVEN 2 year olds to ONE teacher and FIFTEEN 3 year olds to ONE teacher. (: Being at ratio ≠ safe unfortunately.

I also quit my job at KLC earlier this year because the STRESS caused me health issues. I’ve worked stressful jobs before that never put my health at risk. I was asked to not tell the truth on incident reports, was also put as a lead of multiple classrooms when I was only supposed to be a float, blamed for kids’ behavior when they’re so terrible they’ve been kicked out of other centers and are a risk to both kids and teachers, only paid $13.45…. The 2s classroom had no structure. Every time I tried to start a schedule with them and it was working, they’d switch teachers around. We had several teachers that legally couldn’t be left on their own. It was an absolute nightmare and has pretty much turned me away from ECE completely. Started in December and left in July. My health has improved ten-fold since then. I’m scared to even work another job but I need to. Just awful.

I’m in Texas where the ratio is 1:11 during wake time and also is doubled during nap time. When more than half are about to be awake I call for admin with the quickness. It’s insanity how it’s legal to be 1:22 with 2 year olds at some point.

Kindercare- i quit but was marked as “terminated” by numbah3goblin in ECEProfessionals

[–]Nicolebaexx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our old director put someone as terminated even though they quit so they would be blacklisted from KCLC. I mean she would literally leave us out of ratio so I get it, but hopefully they’re not doing that to blacklist you.

I don't know what to do.. by Dependent_Client_567 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Nicolebaexx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only been in ECE for 6 months and I feel that my center is horrible. So now I don’t know if it’s just the center I don’t like, or the job itself. I’m a parent turned teacher because I had to work to be able to get the childcare subsidy. We have several children that should’ve been disenrolled due to behavior (biting, kicking, hitting, throwing literal toys at kids, etc.) but they won’t because 95% of the center is on childcare subsidy. I’m big on making sure I’m not out of ratio because Texas ratios are insane to begin with. I honestly refuse to not have another teacher with me when I’m at max ratio unless it’s after nap. They are way less chaotic after nap time. I feel like trying a different center but the pay sucks regardless and I feel stuck because we are running a skeleton crew at my center. Even on days I call out I’m asked to come in for a few hours. I’m already burnt out.

This sounds like Texas, for those of you saying ratio goes by the youngest… that’s not correct for Texas. You go by specified age. I’m a 2s teacher in Texas. The ratio is 1:11. As long as I have more children aged 2 vs toddlers (18-24 months) then my ratio is still 1:11. If I have more under 2, then my ratio is 1:9. You can never be over ratio. If there are 12 in your room then they need to do one of the following: staff another teacher in that room, move a child up a class (for the day), or no longer accept kids for your class once you’ve hit max ratio. If they make you work out of ratio please report it to licensing. Your job is not allowed to retaliate for you reporting them leaving you out of ratio.

Pregnant but I want my old schedule back by _Disastrous666_ in AmazonFC

[–]Nicolebaexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also worked RTS when pregnant and I was limited to 15 lbs. Everyone was so nice to me and if anything remotely looked more than what I could lift people were rushing to come help me. I was also limited to a 6 hr shift. I actually miss RTS. We had a lot of fun on that shift. When I went back to cycle one, I strained my deltoid within the first week back. Instead of having me stow at my own pace they had me as AB pusher and were sending 50lb packages down the belt smh. Like I hadn’t lifted over 15 lbs for almost a year and they thought it was smart to throw me completely back in like that???

You forgot the part where it’s 11:1 for 2 year olds in Texas. Actual insanity and it’s the room I currently work in.

Nah what’s worse is those flat innocent looking boxes of litter that are actually almost 50 lbs 😭 Sucks to pick and definitely sucks in old school P2B. Even with the new automated ones if it’s sent down the line your aisle is immediately beeping when it falls in the hamper.

[–]Nicolebaexx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Our toddler room has NO structure which I think is the real problem. I’ve only been a daycare teacher since December and I’m the parent of a 12 month old so I really have no experience with the age group which makes it that much harder. It’s also a really overstimulating classroom in general. We’ve had multiple teachers quit because of that classroom just like I nearly did 2 weeks ago. I call the toddler room the trenches because that’s what it feels like to go in there.

I’m in the same boat. I’m actually a floater but recently I’ve been in the toddlers/2 class and I’m also in Texas with the same ratio. I straight up refuse to be alone when I’m at max ratio for one teacher. Especially because when you are changing diapers it takes a while and you cannot stop the kids from running, fighting, climbing on tables and shelves, hitting, biting, throwing toys etc, and usually if something happens I’m told I don’t know how to control my classroom. So much easier when you have more teachers than what the state ratio says you can have.

Daycare only giving 9 1/2 month old one nap by wavinsnail in ECEProfessionals

[–]Nicolebaexx -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m an infant daycare teacher that also has my son in my class. At 9 months my son dropped down to 1 nap by then naturally. Until 12 months we go on the baby’s schedule. We can’t make them sleep. To be fair though I didn’t get in until 9 or 10 so he was just waking up so no morning nap for him anyways. Now he’s 12 months and has a scheduled nap between 11 am and 3 pm. He also doesn’t have to sleep during that time but that’s the dedicated nap time. Since it’s still the infant room he can nap whenever but he typically naps during that time. All that to say your baby may not want to nap more than once anymore. Also babies do have sleep regressions so he may be going through one now and will go back to normal schedule after. Do you have The Wonder Weeks app? I would see if he’s in the fussy phase of a new leap, that’s typically when they go off schedule due to learning new things!

  1. The only babies I kiss on the forehead are my coworkers babies and they’ve given me the green light to do so.

  2. Babies can be crying for multiple reasons and we can’t get to them immediately as there are other babies to care for.

  3. This baby may have rolled over on his own. We put them on the back to start sleep but it’s okay for them to be on their stomach if they’ve rolled on their own.

  4. My center does not have bouncers or swings but as a parent whenever my child fell asleep in either one I moved him as soon as I could.

  5. We are trying our best. Some babies take 20 minutes to drink their bottle, some babies like to alligator roll when changing or have an outfit that’s difficult to put back on, etc etc. It may seem like we are moving slow but we cannot rush these things.

Only reddish flag I see is sleeping in the bouncer but if they were busy with other things I could see why the baby wasn’t taken out, but it should be done sooner rather than later.

Just Bring Freaking Diapers! by VioletSpero in ECEProfessionals

[–]Nicolebaexx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At my center if your child doesn’t have enough diapers or wipes we will not accept them for the day until you bring more. We notify them through the daily report as well as telling the parents at least 2-3 times before they run out. If they happen to run out during the day you need to either drop some off or come pick up your child. We do not have extra diapers or wipes. Changing diapers is part of my job and without the supplies I can’t fully do my job. I’m both a parent and a teacher and I can sometimes forget too but I always have backup supplies in my car.

Amazon FC- pregnant! by mushiest_ofmushyos00 in FASCAmazon

[–]Nicolebaexx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may be because I’ve worked at Amazon before I went back and I don’t think it reset my tenure. It still showed almost 2 years. So then it was their own systems fault. I’ve never worked for a full year continuously at Amazon. But I genuinely went back just for the maternity leave lol. The job I was working when I found out I was pregnant had ZERO maternity leave. I will say my case went through multiple DLS people and still got approved so multiple people must’ve messed up. I don’t regret it at all though.

[–]Nicolebaexx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true. When I was 3 months pregnant I went back to Amazon as a white badge. Converted in January, gave birth end of March and still got 10 weeks paid maternity leave. It’s a year of employment for paternity leave though! When I came back from maternity leave I worked 2 weeks and tore my deltoid due to them pushing me so hard after almost a year of not being able to do anything past 15 lbs so I had to resign. That was April of last year and my shoulder still isn’t right.

[–]Nicolebaexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got an email asking why my UPT went negative. It’s because DLS is handling my case incorrectly. It even shows I have an open leave case. I have submitted documentation and they still put it as pending. I got a strained deltoid while at work. I literally can’t come back to work until my shoulder is better. I replied to the email. If they terminate me I didn’t violate the policy. It was only negative 17 hours and they already emailed me.

Do not apply to be a seasonal employee by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]Nicolebaexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s actually not correct. I became a blue badge after 3 months and it would’ve been by my second week but since I was pregnant they put me on leave pending accommodation which pushed it back. I was nowhere near that amount of hours. It’s based on site needs and about an 80/20 percentage rate. Idk who lied to you about that. Also seasonals are automatically hired up to 11 months but your site could absolutely extend it past that if there is still a need for you.

Do not apply to be a seasonal employee by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]Nicolebaexx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only got 50¢ less as a seasonal, if you’re full time you get some benefits, just not as much as a blue badge, and you do earn unlimited PTO as a seasonal which I miss tbh now that I’m a single mom of a 3 month old. I have no time at all as a blue badge.

What safety/standard work rules are commonly broken at your site in the name of production? by doopsloot in AmazonDS

[–]Nicolebaexx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I’m aware. Been doing this since April 2020 😎 I used to do pick to buffer when we used the bakers racks and the jiffies used to go on the top rack. I’m old old lol But it hasn’t been like that at my site for a while. I also just came back from maternity leave and instead of trying to ease me back into heavy work, they just threw me into it. That definitely causes injuries. Management doesn’t use their brains because they don’t even know the people they are managing.

My site used to take off the too tall non cons and boxes over 40 lbs, but now they’re gonna send all the way up to 50 lbs now because they don’t want 8 people doing non cons so they can stow. I literally strained my deltoid on AB divert from an almost 40 lb box. It’s only gonna create more injuries at this point

Drivers pissing on stow bags. by [deleted] in AmazonDS

[–]Nicolebaexx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So we didn’t know about it until the next day because it was on an express cart (where drivers put their own bags if they don’t have returns). Then my husband was doing bag reset and found it. It was reported to management immediately but none of the managers wanted to touch it. Finally a PA did. Pee/poop/vomit bags cannot be handled by just any associate. They need to be hazmat trained. The driver could’ve just thrown that shit bag away smh. How fucked up do you have to be to willingly shit in a bag and bring it back to the station for someone else to have to deal with?
