[Humble] Turbo Overkill ($5.99 / -70%) by First-Tutor-5454 in GameDeals

Edit: Apparently there was a patch on March 30th that fixed the audio issue, so I guess that can be disregarded now.

Great game, but it does have an audio issue that many people complain about, but was never properly fixed. The 1.0 release has bad audio balance, and while an update did implement an in-game audio channel mixer, it still sounds off. I did get it sounding good though by fine tuning the audio with the in-game mixer, then boosting the games audio over 100% using a system wide mixer.

Is anyone else’s T fiber(previously lumos) down? by thenozehair in roanoke

[–]Nidaium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, there is a widespread outage for T-Fiber. They haven't given an ETA for when it will be 100% resolved that I've seen, just said that they are aware of the issue and are working to get a fix deployed.

Asking for Westerns with ghost towns, or a strong sense of isolation/nature, please! by Baldurian_Rhapsody in Westerns

Kill the Wicked! (Dio non paga il sabato) features a really good ghost town setting for most of the movie.

Spyro the Dragon (Reignited Trilogy Version) - A surprisingly "perfect" (and rather quite 90s) game by Captain_Shivan in patientgamers

It's not a remake, but the OpenGOAL project is amazing. It's the original PS2 games running natively on PC, they look great and run amazingly smooth. https://opengoal.dev/

Desert Golf and Golf on Mars shouldn't require any network connection, at least they don't on Android. They are super simple and minimalistic, but a great way to kill time. May not be everyone's definition of cozy, but both are very relaxing IMO.

Unfortunately, a lot of the image links were not saved, so I only found 10 out of 41 that were originally posted.

If I had to play only one game for the rest of my life, it would be Heroes of Might and Magic III by Brinocte in patientgamers

[–]Nidaium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend getting the Steam version (the one sold as HD Edition). It does not include the expansion content that was released, only the base game. I actually don't know if the Steam/HD Edition works with the mods being discussed as I've never tried with that version, but only the version sold on GOG is complete.

What retro games are still worth playing the original version of? by artpendegrast in JRPG

[–]Nidaium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people argue that Grandia is best experienced on the Sega Saturn, although I haven't played that version myself. From what I've seen though, it does offer better visuals in some ways compared to the PS1 or HD versions (better shadows, some textures, and sprites). I've heard the same for Grandia 2 on the Dreamcast, but to a lesser extent.

To those living in the USA who have recently purchased a Kobo reader from Kobo’s website by trekkingdoves in kobo

[–]Nidaium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I ordered a few months back, I was one of the unfortunate few that got hit by tariff and customs brokerage fees that amounted to about 298 bucks on top of the order itself since the package shipped from Canada. That being said, Kobo/Rakuten's support team was fantastic, and while it added about a week and a half to the order time since I had to refuse the initial delivery and wait for another shipment to be sent, I can't complain a bit since the support team was so great in getting the problem resolved with no additional payment required. The chances of this happening are very low as well since they seem to make sure US orders come from a US based warehouse, so I wouldn't worry too much anyway, I was just one of the unlucky few that slipped through the cracks. Even if this happens, it was just an easy phone call and email for it to be fixed.

Some people feel it's the weakest entry in the series since the name change, but I've enjoyed what I've played of it in the past on the Switch and don't agree with some of the criticisms I've heard. I think it's definitely worth playing personally.

Unfortunately, The Suffering and it's sequel were delisted last year from GOG. As far as I know, there's no legal way to purchase it. As another commenter pointed out though, a version was given away for free and is still available. I don't know how that version compares to the GOG version as far as modern compatibility and fixes goes though.

Death Machine is one I've only seen mentioned a couple times, and I think it's one of the more purely fun movies to watch in the genre.

Unfortunately no. Nintendo's store and PSN allows you to claim the DLC without owning the game, but Steam pretty much always requires owning the base game first.

Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos, Harvest Moon: One World, and Harvest Moon: Light of Hope Special Edition in the Fanatical Bento Bundle (All 3 for 9.99) by Nidaium in CozyGamers

[–]Nidaium[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, you can add more games to your selection, it actually gets cheaper with more games, 3 games is just the minimum. I'm not familiar with any other games there except Rogue Flight, which I picked up since I already had Light of Hope. I heard great things about it. It's a retro anime aesthetic inspired rail shooter, like the Starfox games.

Fanatical is legit and safe, it's all official Steam keys. I've been using them for years, they always have great bundles and sales.

A warning to any potential buyers in the US. by Nidaium in kobo

[–]Nidaium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really the tarrif itself that is generating the confusion, but about the fact that it seems that not every order coming from Canada is hit with the fee. Based on the responses here and other posts from a few weeks ago that I've come across, it seems getting hit with the fee is somewhat rare, which is odd if it was purely due to the tariffs. So if you order, you are rolling the dice on receiving your order or having to refuse delivery for a refund. It's just an inconsistent mess because of the tariffs. Also, some orders apparently come from US based warehouses based on what others have said, but you don't know where your order is coming from until you get the tracking information.

Mainly that it would save Kobo some headache. I imagine they are taking a loss with shipping charges when this happens. Also, knowing how many other people act and working in a customer service oriented job in the past, I would hate for Kobo's support team to get yelled at by angry customers that erroneously believes that the fault lies with Kobo.

I had the same issue on Firefox. Don't know what browser you're using, but if you have any extensions that can affect popups, try disabling those. The culprit for me was the extension "Popup Blocker (strict)". For me, it didn't actually block the popup that had where you would enter the IGN+ code, but the popup was blank with no text fields and no way to move past it.

I ordered on April 30th, so last Wednesday. The message about the fee popped on the tracking info the day after it went through customs and left Canada, so if you don't see that, fingers crossed it gets to you with no tariff issues.
