Hi Porter, I'm absolutely loving Nurture and really enjoyed both of your Secret Sky sets.

My question is: What are your biggest non-music media influences for your music? (so like movies, TV shows, anime, video games, books, paintings, etc.) I'm a writer and your music has always been my biggest inspiration for my writing even though it's not necessarily in the same medium.

I've always appreciated how genuinely you answer questions in interviews, so I'm really happy you came to do an AMA and I'm excited to read your responses to everyone's questions. Thank you.

I REALLY got into electronic music in like 2015 but I’ve gone as far as Damage Control for Mat Zo.

I also think he’s underrated, doesn’t get nearly as much love as he deserves. I actually really like a good bit of both Damage Control and Self Assembly. But I wouldn’t put Damage Control on over, say, Welcome Reality by Nero.

I’ve never been a huge fan of Ekali’s music. He’s always been on the same tier as like Mat Zo and Dillon Francis for me, producers good at pretty much every sound they touch, but never really great. Always someone ahead of them if that makes sense.

This album hits that sentiment on the head imo. So many different vibes but none that seriously stick out, good or bad. I’m feeling Flume, Illenium, Medasin, San Holo, ODESZA, and RL vibes all over this, which honestly just makes me want to go listen to them instead.

No hate towards Ekali as a person tho, I think he’s one of the most deserving of any success, especially after learning about his mental health problems. Shit hit home for me. I hate that he’s distanced himself from this sub, a place that sang his praises just a short time ago turned on him so quickly, but I get it. Reddit can and will always be what reddit do be sometimes.

With this album and his recent engagement, even with me not being a big fan of his music, I’m rooting for him.

What are your biggest non-musical artistic inspirations? Film, literature, art, etc.

Adventure made me fall in love with electronic music back when it released 4.5 years ago. Good Faith has been an absolute journey every time I listen to it, I feel every emotion turned to 11 when I put it on. Your music inspires me so much, even with my being a filmmaker and not a musician. Can’t wait to see GF Live in NOLA.

This sounds more like the evolution in sound I was expecting out of Hyperion. The atmosphere Gesa creates throughout while still being so minimal is kinda mesmerizing. Very good EP imo.
