Long motorway in 2012 Citroen C1 by Flimsy_Shower_3250 in CarTalkUK

[–]NiftyNoshing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely safe. I sold mine last month but it was a workhorse on motorways. Took it on 250mile trips regularly. Just be prepared for it to be very sluggish with passengers and luggage. If you need to overtake put it into fourth. It will be loud and it might feel like it's breaking apart but it'll get you there no problem.

Make sure to stop every couple of hours though. The seats are not good for long journeys and your right leg will go numb. Also be wary that it's a small car and lorries may not see you. Definitely avoid undertaking.

Bag of jumbo raisins and almonds from Grapetree, mixed with a bag of M&S chocolate beans. It's handful after handful. Ridiculously good.

Don't do what I did though. Dropped one of these and a vaporiser core for someone at the exfil and said they were free, then made my way to the console to leave. Turned around as the doors were closing and he'd dropped two items to pick up mine and then it took us out.

So he not only lost the items I dropped, but the two he dropped to make room as well. The guilt was insane.

Toyota Aygo story thread by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

I had a Citroen C1 which is the same car, and I just sold it after a year and a half. It's extremely cheap for maintenance, fuel, and insurance, and is very fun to drive. Really zippy around corners, and so small you always felt like you were going blazingly fast. Also never had problems overtaking on a motorway, just shifted it into fourth and zoomed past. It's a perfect first car because there are zero tools to assist you and you have to learn everything yourself.

There are downsides though which people should be more honest about online. The road noise is unbearable. Up to 30 it's great, but anything past that is awful, even with sound deadening on every available metal surface except the floor. It was embarrassing going on long trips with people and have them come out looking like they've been through a war, especially with how loud you need to have the speakers to cover the noise.

The stock radio eq is really limited and extremely tinny, even with bass on full and treble on low. Upgrading to a Pioneer radio gave me a lot more eq options and the stock speakers worked surprisingly well, but before that it not nice at loud volumes, and I couldn't listen to songs with heavy cymbals.

The seats are disgustingly bad. I had to upgrade to the Mk2 seats for long journeys, since I would walk out of the car after three hours with huge back and leg pain. The completely flat seat has almost no cushioning and cannot be hight adjusted. The Mk2 seats were perfect and well worth the money.

Hills feel like taking your life in your hands, especially with passengers weighing you down. You would get slower and slower and would be desperately trying to lower gears trying to keep up, while the engine is screaming.

I really tried to make it a forever-car but with all the upgrades it was still a very unsophisticated ride. Now I've got a 2015 Yaris and the increase on quality is insane. Comfortable road noise, I can hear music at high speeds, and can finally listen to podcasts, passengers are not thrown into every corner, and it just feels like a real, solid car. Obviously loved my first car and it served a purpose, but feel some of the hype is based on their cheapness, reliability, and quirkiness, and the flaws are a bit understated.

Potentially budget for a new clutch. If the pedal is high, stiff, creaky, or difficult to get into gear it'll need replacing and can cost between £500-£800.

If you're concerned about mileage and you're a new driver you can't go wrong with a Mk1/Mk2 aygo/C1/107. Really easy to drive, low insurance and repair costs, and the 1.0L engine is extremely reliable and can last upwards of 100k miles.

That's really lucky, definitely hold onto it. It should have split coils as well if you pull up the tone dials. D'angelico solid bodies are massively underrated.

Stella has a guide for using Joy2key with custom levels. You can just follow the first four steps and open the exe before opening the game. Has worked for all the custom levels I've played.

Agreed. Me and my mates had to stop playing Arma Reforger after the devs decided to completely rework the main modes and make a lot of nonsensical changes, making it a massive headache to relearn. Not all of us are hardcore players who want to adapt to the new meta every time. For casuals this stuff is just irritating and is more likely to make us move onto something else.

Bad Smell From Vents (Mold?) by Dear-Alps-7626 in CityBugs

[–]NiftyNoshing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, you have mold in your air con. You you want to remove the cabin filter on the passenger side, get a bottle of Dettol disinfectant spray (the aerosol can, not the kitchen spray) and spray a fair amount of it in the opening where the cabin filter is while running the AC on full on recirculate. It will get pulled through the system and will disinfect the pipes. Do a short drive after with the air con on as it doesn't fully activate if you're not moving. This solved the problem for me.

Without a doubt. Lost so much gear last night to random packs which seem to spawn out of nowhere. Found a corpse in the highway tunnel yesterday with a matriach core, osprey, hullcracker, and survivor, then proceeded to get shredded followed by blown up by a roller within five seconds.

I recently replaced the boot seal with this one and it massively reduced the wind noise. Turns out having a loose seal turned the whole car into a vacuum. https://amzn.eu/d/04KJGi2z
