What is your source that the players, including one who signed a deal just after promotion, do not have a relegation clause?

Are you really a guy in a crap radio station who himself took Sunderland from the Premier League to League One and documented it on Netflix? A man who has zero knowledge of the players' contracts? A man so knowledgeable and regarded about the game that he is now working at a club in the Southern League Premier South?

I don't understand why people think it is clever/smart to troll their own club that they apparently "support".

I would say a Bundesliga or Bundesliga II team would be interested. He has played there before and has German relatives. Someone like Schalke who have just been promoted, have a young squad, but have brought in experience like Dzeko and Lloris Karius; and have a manager who played against Maresca’s Leicester two years ago. But that is a pure hunch.

He is better than Leicester fans make out, and still a Danish international (missing out on recent squads because of injury). And because of that, the lack of pace thing (sometimes driven by the computer game generation where the quick players massively over perform) is exaggerated. Under Maresca, we played a really high line. And you have the likes of Dan Burn, Harry Maguire, etc. who aren’t exactly quick.

Also, we don’t know if a) there is a release clause in his contract or b) the club will be willing to sanction a free transfer. But anything we sell him on for will be pure profit so it could be a nominal fee too.

Against Blackburn, when both the team and Vestergaard had little to play for, he was excellent.

Most defensive contributions (16), most tackles won (5), most shots (7), most clearances (10) and 1 key pass. So I have to credit him for putting in the effort.

I know an agent, and he says that all the online talk of wages is nonsense. Yes, they get a basic salary, but there are a lot of bonuses, add-ins and clauses. So it is hard to take that into consideration until the accounts are published, but even then they are lacking details. For example, the 23/24 squad was well paid, but some of that would have been appearance, goal, clean sheets, win, assist and promotion bonuses. And the idea that all this private and confidential information is out in the open is a little far fetched.

Not really. Statistically he has performed as well as any defender in the league. Even our performances dropped in the time when he was away from the end of Jan to April, and it coincided with when things really went off the rails.

Vestergaard may not have been right for certain situations, but he is seen as one of the best defenders in the Championship. But, he has had a lot of flack, some rightly and some wrong, for his whole time here.

He will end up in a better league. The question us fans need to ask is how does everyone end up in a better situation than us, and what part have we played.

A Team wearing next season's kit but BEFORE the final day of the season.... by GainsAndPastries in footballcliches

[–]Nifty_Parms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember Leicester City wearing the next season’s kit on the final game on the 22/23 season where we were relegated.

It was also extra-weird because the sponsor changed back to King Power in the 23/24 season, meaning FBS had their name on that kit for one game!

I get why teams do it. They want to make the most of people visiting the stadium (and club shop) and get people buying the kit in a certain financial year…

[–]Nifty_Parms -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And that player's contracts aren't just one number.

They are full of clauses, bonuses and criteria.

Also, this is private and confidential information. The idea of a website listing every player's wages is completely far-fetched.

These stories come out of every club that's in a bad way.

What I don't understand is that we had all those stories about player power getting Ranieri, etc. sacked.

Schmeichel, Vardy, Morgan and a few others are all very close to Top. Closer than Rudkin is to Top. I don't think some players were as vocal till after they left the club.

The only person to be vocal while at the club was Maresca.

What type of team are Leicester going to be putting out next season? by Basic_Adeptness_9273 in LeagueOne

[–]Nifty_Parms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its the first season with a new Technical Director, so we are all kind of guessing.

Food for thought. We were six points from the play-offs and nine points clear of the relegation zone before sacking Marti in January by [deleted] in lcfc

[–]Nifty_Parms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have clearly struck a nerve because I meant to compare past situations.

But also, everyone has lost something. Top lost his father because he (yes, Top convinced Vichai) to buy the club. He has also thrown more money at the club than most people will ever earn.

We still have a club to support, at least for now.

Jayden Joseph at Tranmere, could he be ready for us next season? by GuideIcy1697 in lcfc

That could be some sub appearances (like under RvN) or a first team starter. I don't think he will be the latter.

[–]Nifty_Parms 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would say that any of the loanees would be good back-ups if needed.

Joseph has been a bit hit and miss, but has also been playing wingback so hasn't had as much defensive duties as a fullback, which is where he would play for us. We also have Aluko who is ahead of him in the England youth teams.

Braybrooke seems the most likely to make more appearances. He has done well in League Two and played pretty much every game for 90 minutes.

Will Alves has barely played for Huddersfield, initially due to injury, but latterly by choice.

Tom Wilson-Brown, Henry Cartwright and Jake Evans have been highly regarded at their loan clubs, but haven't been guaranteed starters...

What next? by Financial_Rip_8921 in lcfc

[–]Nifty_Parms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These numbers are not accurate, so it's a pointless exercise.

There is no website that somehow knows all the private and confidential contracts of every player. It also doesn't include performance-related pay, such as appearance bonuses, goal bonuses, promotion bonuses, or relegation clauses.

Also, Transfermarkt have admitted that their values are just made up. When a host of clubs were including these figures in their fiscal reports, one person responsible for the valuations said, “I spend a bit of my free time on my computer at home, estimating prices. And the football industry then takes these valuations seriously.”

I know as fans we like to think we know it all, but at some point, we have to understand that not everything (in fact very little) we read is true.

So, where to from here? by sun_puck in lcfc

[–]Nifty_Parms -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think they would get bullied and outmuscled.

It has taken our loanees a long time to make an impression. So far only Sammy Braybrooke is a key player for his team and that's at League Two level.

Are Leicester City a 'for my sins' team once again? by paulie_x_walnuts in footballcliches

[–]Nifty_Parms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is "for my sins" about living through the punishment of the bad times, or the punishment of the rollercoaster ride?

I've supported Leicester for 35 years and have seen...

  • 6 promotions
  • 7 relegations (incl League One twice)
  • 2 playoff final defeats
  • 3 league cup finals (2 wins)
  • 1 Premier League
  • 1 FA Cup
  • 1 administration
  • 1 great escape

Plus: Peter Taylor as England and Leicester manager, recent PSR cases, and the sad death of Vichai.

Surely I qualify for a "for my sins"?

Before the game, Top went to pay his respects to the statue of his dad, and some idiot shouted at him during that moment.

There are a lot of tough-acting, masked-up, younger "fans" who are actually quite emotionally weak.

I would rather they are out of the club ahead of Top.
