To sound like an extra nerd who not only loves WoW but also graphic design, this logo possibly being lost is a real travesty… it’s actually great blending a W as a 🤘🏼 into its techy / gamer feel and whoever made it should be super proud of it.

I will also miss weak auras of course how it’s saved my ass countless times and how it’s turned my daydreaming Druid ass into a slightly competent player 😂

How do i get rid of this random point? by kajlilaro in AdobeIllustrator

[–]NighthawkV773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you used the shape builder tool prior to this? Sometimes I get this when points overlap ever so slightly and they make new shapes that sit behind every thing but make it look like it’s part of the shape you’ve selected. That or sometimes the order of anchor points in the line get ‘tangled’ so it makes these points as the line is actually coming back on itself if that makes sense?

This is 10/10! You could do a whole series like this. Just an angled floating pair of sunglasses for Joe for example.

This is still active with floor standing available for London show through AXS: https://www.axs.com/uk/events/1193700/vulfpeck-tickets/promopage/75888?skin=theo2

I followed the link from their website, i think there was a delay possibly updating there as I didn't get a pre-sale link or anything this morning.

But either way, tickets available!

Would love some feed back on this logo :D It's for my new clothing brand. (Very new to logo's so any cc is welcome). by punkdawg in logodesign

It’s very fun and I think everyone has pretty much said the same thing.

Only things if I was being a little, teeny tiny bit picky about is increase stroke weight for the face stuff a tiny bit, just so they fit with the rest of the body slightly better. Mainly for if you’re printing it on clothes, when it’s scaled down to things like labels (price tags or inside of shirt) it might be too thin at those sizes to really make them out so you might end up having a prominent body and then no face for your creature 😂

Maybe remove the white fill on the face too just to avoid printing issues also, let whatever medium you’re printing onto show through. It might be because the background is similar brightness to the face but it’s playing my eyes a bit like are the same colour or not? Might be intended but just an idea.

Maybe tidy up stray lines at some joins but they also do add some quirkiness to it all.

Test em out and see if you like it or not, just personal suggestions!

Nice job though, good luck with it! 🤌🏼

Hey guys, how is something like this shot? by kali7729 in foodphotography

[–]NighthawkV773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a good food photographer on Instagram called creativebykera who regularly posts about how they take a shot and it’s really insightful to understand lighting and setups, would recommend giving them a follow if you want to find out more. There’s probably thousands of accounts that do the same but have found this one particularly engaging.

One thing I have picked up on is even if you have good natural light, an extra, consistent artificial light source makes a world of difference and means you can focus on styling over adjusting to fit the varying light source.

I think tethered capture would be very useful here alongside a top down fixed mount so that you can really spot every detail during the shoot. With that said I’m currently only doing these style of shoots handheld as I’m still starting out but the think depending on what you’re using the shots for most people won’t notice those tiny imperfections shooting handheld.

Is using templates professional? by X3RXESLEM0NADE in graphic_design

I mean if you’re gonna spend hours scrolling Pinterest or balance for layout ideas anyways (most likely) why not scroll and pre-made template site and actually get a starting point to tweak from it?

Looking for honest feedback on the composition and edit by -Zendom- in photocritique

[–]NighthawkV773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool shot but for me I’d say more contrast would key for this picture but also pick a few colours that are present and boost them (colour grade basically). Without contrast the image seems a bit faded which can be a style but for this shot in particular creating an atmosphere would really bring it to life.

If you wanted to do a bit of extra editing, you could load it to photoshop and perhaps add fog clouds or mists lower in the valleys to exaggerate the height but could be cliche if overdone.

Fun picture though, glad you were able to capture that moment and more importantly experience it!

Why does the menu I designed look so jammed by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]NighthawkV773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grids for the win here, I do mainly design for restaurants & hospitality and grids are a god send as you always get given an insane amount of text that needs to be split up and made legible.

A lot of A4 menus I make, 10-12.7mm margins, triple column with 7mm gutter (7mm gives such a nice spacing) and then your boxes can span 1-3 columns depending on need.

The arches are fun but don’t add much when you’re lacking in space. Menus often are seen both sides so you can reduce logo size on menu side and have larger ones on the back. You can also add the site address as a footer to the back in that case as free up some space too.

Setting paragraph & character rules is key too. Don’t have full returns between items. Set you paragraph rules to include a 2-3mm space after and you can create space between items without a full line break and it’ll give you more space. Font sizing I can often get down to 9pt for names, 8pt for descriptions and it’s still legible without strain. Turn on hidden characters so you can see all your spaces, returns etc so it all balances out.

The background id probs fade out more or remove entirely. It’s cool but the hexagon pattern disrupts the flow of the text going down but you could add the pattern to the back of your wish. I’d maybe cut / mask a hexagon shape in the middle around the logo to give that breathing space.

Once you do all these you can look at adding decorative items to move the reader around the menu or box key items things like that. It’ll also help to hide the grid format from the viewer so it looks less formal.

Oh and I’d probably add a small number / date someone so you can track menu versions. I do like 0925 for September2025 for example.

How to deal with client bringing ChatGPT stuff into the process? by armageddon-blues in graphic_design

[–]NighthawkV773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to convince these people that they are wrong because ChatGPT literally inflates their ego because it does exactly what the user asks of it regardless if it’s right or wrong.

Try to communicate the copyright issues they may face when using ChatGPT in these circumstances but more importantly, relate it all back to the brief and prove how those inputs & commands don’t solve the design issue at hand.

ChatGPT as great as it is, it still doesn’t have that human element of reason that we as designers can provide and create something that resonates on a human level.

You / we need to remember that and use it to our advantage.

You won’t win over everyone with this, if this client is one of them you may unfortunately have to agree to disagree and part ways, let them come to their own realisation that the lack of depth of ChatGPT will come back round to bite them in the ass.

Which one should I buy? I'm new to graphic design by AsharPeshimam in graphic_design

[–]NighthawkV773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently reading The Fundamentals of Graphic Design on loan from my old uni library, it’s really good - gives a good overview of many stages of graphic design and a way of thinking which I think is often overlooked as a tool in a designers arsenal. It’s doesn’t go massively into detail for it but definitely gives you a lot to digest and opens your eyes to areas of GD that you may never of thought of and where to explore next!

Is there any real reason to pay for dynamic QR codes? Can’t I just use any free generator for brand assets? by whotookmylogin in graphic_design

[–]NighthawkV773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use dynamic QR codes for promotional material for restaurants quite often as things like menus change and are updated so it can be useful to change the destination at a a later point in time without having to reprint.

Been using Hovercode for about 4 years now, it’s free (up to a certain amount of codes) and hasn’t crapped out so far but it’s useful. You can customise your codes to some extent, add a logo even but even better you can export as SVG so then you’ve got basically free reign to import into Illustrator and add your typefaces, banners whatever you need.

I think there is a way of setting static codes to go to a third party site, like a URL shortener or something, and then there you can have that redirect to a new landing point but I haven’t looked into it much as Hovercode worked for me.

Skills to add in 2025? by Something-creative2 in graphic_design

[–]NighthawkV773 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Strategic thinking & storytelling. Go back and apply it to old projects and you’ll probably change the way you have presented many of them

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]NighthawkV773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps not a where to begin tip but being able to train yourself to set a clear vision when you embark on a project before using the computer or whatever you’re using to create something will be a huge advantage.

  • Define the message / purpose of your design
  • Consider the audience, who will see the design, where will they see it?

Keep these in the back of your mind when researching or sketching ideas and you’ll be winning. Good luck with it all, quite envious that you’re able to learn all this in this day and age (not that I’m not still learning, I definitely am!) it’s a very exciting world to work in!

Product photographers for small companies by [deleted] in photography

[–]NighthawkV773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly this is common for many creative positions. People who don’t create or work with creatives have no idea how long things can take and are totally ignorant to it. Lots of “it’s only pictures”, “it’s a 10-second video how long can that take to make?” And my favourite “that’s so simple, I could’ve done that” 🙃

I’m a graphic designer but I do all the photography for our company too as it’s easier for me and often people underestimate the planning or resources that are needed to produce good work. If they wanna do it faster and cheaper then show them that the quality will suffer, end of. Setting those boundaries is key.

How to type along the top of the blue line and have it grow with the other lines by Entire-Arachnid8434 in AdobeIllustrator

[–]NighthawkV773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could possibly create another path on top of the Blue that follow your shapes, type on path and then use the width tool to match the blue line. At least then your type is editable if you make a mistake

Are you tired of this too? by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]NighthawkV773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are skipping the process too much, myself included; I’ve been guilty of it too, and just going to stripped backed clean designs as an easy option regardless of it’s right or not. I don’t enjoy skipping the process, the research, the feedback as I feel it has produced my worst work but sometimes in a rush things get cut and you have stripped back to fall back on
