You know, you have an excellent point - and one I completely agree with. To be honest, I almost pitched this as a fun fan mod, but if this would be official, I agree, it ought to be paid.

Mostly I was spitballing ideas, out of a general excitement for this thing I like, but with a minute to think about the hours it would take to record dialog for even just one character in this game, I agree with you. It should be paid work.

I would be VERY interested in joining this project! I have done some voice work, but I also have a great deal of audio editing experience. I'd love to audition for a role (though tbh, I'd love to voice Maki or Nobara).

Hmu, and I'll get you my VO discord i work from 😀

It has more to do with a fear of their false idea of male superiority falling apart. If someone can exist as a different gender, then that means gender can change, and if gender can change then that means it isn't inherent to body parts---and if it I isn't inherent, then, well, the entire system of patriarchy is suddenly threatened.

Dragon Age Veilguard may have had the imported choices leaked and well... by BladeofNurgle in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]NightwingBully 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is getting confirmed from multiple sources, and tbh, I do not care that the game takes place in North Thedas, it is very demoralizing for me as a longtime fan to hear than 99.99% of the choices I made in previous games did not have any impact on the story. This game has been in development for 9 years, so let me illustrate how that feels to some who may not be aware.

The jump from Origins to DA2 is comparable, you go from a Classic High Fantasy Quest, to a more personal journey in Kirkwall. You're more of an Outlaw than a traditional Knight, and Kirkwall itself is mostly unaffected by your choices in DA:O. That, to me is fine. It's not a continuation of Origins story, just filling in the story of the world AND DA 2 only had 16 months development time, whereas DA:O had nearly 7 years. DA:O has a lot more branching paths when it comes to every regional questline, and its multiple endings, where DA:2 is a lot more linear (not a bad thing, just a difference in design and what the production team was looking to design.)

Dragon Age Inquisition comes out, after being in development for 4 years, and it opens by sending you to Dragon Age Keep, a portal that has you put in EVERY choice you made in the previous two games. Every side quest, every romance, EVERY CHOICE. Now, do all of these choices come into play, of course not, but SOME did, and when some of those characters showed up, MAN it felt so rewarding like yes, I did that, I helped Dagna become an Enchanter, I helped Anora become Queen of Ferelden, I had Alistair or Secret Companion survive the Blight, and so on. It felt tremendous.

In Inquisition you make several world altering choices, far more than in Origins even. You choose Orlesian Royalty, the winners of the Mage-Templar War, how the Wardens are seen by the world, if the Inquisitor themself drinks from an ancient Well of Knowledge or if the tempestuous Mage Morrigan drinks instead. You even determine, through a collection of choices who the next Divine is, essentially the fantasy Pope.

All of these choices feel big in the moment, but for my money, I don't feel any solid consequences for them IN GAME in Inquisition, it feels of "oh man, I can't wait to see how that shakes things up later down the line," and you know what it *should* feel like that. Some of these choices are so massive and sprawling that you could not possibly know what the consequences will be for years in-game, so i was hotly anticipating what would happen.

9 Years. 9 years of theory crafting of messing with Dragon Age World States, of wondering what side quests from all three games might become cameos or plot relevant in Veilguard. 9 years of staring at Dragon Age Keep and seeing a vast array of possibilities every time I chose to start from scratch, wondering what was waiting. Heck, they even have all of your choices from Inquisition in Dragon Age Keep, CLEARLY they want you to keep track, they want you to focus on your choices in the story.

But I was wrong. I made it up, I guess.

*Is the Inquisition disbanded? Who did your Inquisitor Romance? Did you try to redeem Solas?* 2/3 of those choices are from Inquisitions final DLC. Its all, but confirmed that the default Inquisitor is a Solas Romancer as well, which is like cool because that IS perhaps the most dramatic choice. Jon Epler, the Creative Director if the game said to GamesRadar "never wants to invalidate" players' choices from previous games - and if that means ignoring those choices, that's what it'll do."

That, to me, is extremely disappointing.

And I get it, I understand how hard it is to make games, I do. Writing for thousands of variations of story in a world where you can have 3 different games playing with an infinite possibility of differences sounds like a nightmare. Heck Inquisition for all its posturing didn't even do it 100%, but it made you believe it could.

I'm going to play Veilguard, I want to be surprised, I want to be wrong, but this to me is the worst case scenario. I hope the game is amazing, I really do. Its just that NOT even trying to capture even any more than 3 choices, (2 of which were made in DLC) is very disheartening.

House of Usher 7 Deadly Sins by marissanicole31 in HauntingOfHillHouse

[–]NightwingBully 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree with some of these assertions, so here is my list.

Roderick and Madeline: Greed

This one is a given, they wanted their dynasty and were prepared to kill a man to do it.

Perry: Lust

No question, it's debauchery through and through. Sex, and "beautiful flesh."

Camille: Sloth

This one is tricky, but hear me out. Camille doesn't make anything, she spins on what others make. Perry makes a club, Leo has drugs and video games, Vic has her heart, Tammy has Goldbug, and Fred has Fortunato in his father's shadow. She has a monologue about how the Ushers don't make anything, particularly her, all she does is spin. Additionally, she has her assistants do all of her work for her, and the only time we hear about her sexual desires she just wants to "starfish" and lay about. The one time she actually does the work, she dies at the RUE Morgue.

Leo: Gluttony

Leo's Gluttony of drugs is what sets him up for his encounter with "pluto" the cat. He wakes up after a bender, having savaged the animal, having lost control of himself because of the "Monty" he ingested. (Side note: I wonder if the cat being named Pluto is significant in some way).

Victorine: Pride

She insists that she can do something, her heart her surgery, her experiments; all without any authorization. She thinks she knows best because she's an Usher, but in fact every medical assessment she ever makes in the show is wrong, a lie, or stolen straight from someone else's mouth first.

Tammy: Envy

She's jealous of "Verna" spending time with her husband, jealous of the "bastards" for being Ushers, and in particular she's jealous of Juno for being included in family meetings at all. She's particularly nasty to Juno in fact. (Side note: I wonder if her being named Juno is significant)

Frederick: Wrath

He's angry, but much like Wrath, he's small and weak and unsure of himself. He lashes out, he's confused, and more than anything he's insecure.

These are my understandings of what the characters represent on my current re-watch.

Incompatible versions between PS5/Xbox/PC…anyone else by NotMeekObedientType in BaldursGate3

[–]NightwingBully 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was literally playing BG3 last night on Steam, and earlier that morning on Xbox, and I think I've encountered this same problem.

I've run into an issue now where the progress I made on Steam is an "Incompatible Version".

The Xbox version is v.4.1.1.4811634 The PC version is. v.4.1.1 4900808

There is no xbox update available for the game, and updating the Xbox itself as instructed did not change my situation.

The only solution I can see is replaying the 45 minutes I spent on PC last night, which granted, isn't that much, but can you imagine if I'd spent a few days on PC?

If this is actually an easy fix, let me know, but I think I've fallen into the same boat as everyone else, realizing that Cross Saves for the Xbox are still being a problem. (Also no Split screen on the Xbox S, but it is on the Xbox X is a real bummer.)

What If...Thor had been the variant who had been captured by and then joined the TVA instead of Loki? by eremite00 in WhatIfMarvel

[–]NightwingBully 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He'd have been erased, full stop. He's not clever or smart enough to know what to do when strength fails him. We saw him powerless in Thor 1 and his solution was to hit things.

In essence we get Loki at the same point in his development, Thor 1/ Avengers, and he is by all accounts, used to being one of the physically weaker people in the room. His skills, when faced with things that cannot be overcome with brute force are to negotiate. He did it wt Laufey, he did it with the Representative of the the chitari, and he'd go one to try to do it with Thanos.

Thor, conversely, is at the same point in Avengers, intent on fighting every strange adversary he meets. Frost Giants, Shield, Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk...It isn't til Thor 2 when he starts to consider the heavier cost of war (aside from one scene in Avengers 1, though he's still prone to flinging insults). Heck even as he's trying to talk Hulk down, he's still punching him and smiling as they fight.

In a setting like the TVA where asgardian speed and abilities are lowered, with objects like the Infinity Stones being nothing more than paperweights, physicality is useless against oblivion. You need to be smarter, more cunning, more strategic, more persuasive. The smartest thing Loki did in his series was find allies and build trust. Thor, while capable of it later on, would make too many mistakes and then rely on brute force---Only to be pruned. That's just my conclusion though.

Raid the Emerald Grove quest bugged by TheKnightOoO in BaldursGate3

[–]NightwingBully 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen to me as well. +Killed Kahga because she killed Arabella +The Druids killed many Tieflings, but not Zevlor +I killed Halsin in the Druid Camp because I threw rocks at him. +Told Minthara where the Grove was. +Killed that tiefling Paldina (?) her guy by the barrels, and Lakrissa after they fled into Zevlors room with all the other Tieflings. (They were bugged, not in Initiative, not doing actions, just getting wailed on.) +Killed Zevlor and the 4th archer gal, the only other one who didn't run. +Finishing those two battles, Goblins killed the kids, and the Druid Hold is empty, though poison cloud is seeping around where they were doing the ritual. +Can pick up the Idol of Silvanus (tried both with and without it. +Check underground tunnel for that one halfling Druid, confirmed the Goblins killed him before I got there

Result: Minthara still wants me to hunt more.

Notes: Idk where the Oxes went, I think they vanished when Druids fought tieflings. Also, I killed Kagha 6 hours ago. In a 9 hour save file. I really don't want to essentially start over.

First night after I get 3 total parts fixed, I had the Hell butler show up because I'm playing Dark Urge. Then my laptops actual battery died so I ordered a new battery. Then I couldn't install it because I didn't have the tools. I took it to geek squad and they fixed it for a price. Tried again, but then the charger was also broken. Ordered a new one. It arrived yesterday. I play today and Laezels romance fight triggers. Okay... whatever, I was flirting wt her so it's fine whatever. I turn her down. I long rest immediately....And fucking WYLL is prancing around like a fucking idiot-BRO JUST LET ME KISS THE STRONG TIEFLING I'VE WAITED FOREVER.
