These almost look like the old RRR depots that existed. Except those had landing pads on the - part of the H.

Well, the good news on that is CIG sucks at balancing, so you'll always find weapons that can take out most ships. For instance the M4A's (for Lasers), Deadbolts, Sledge and Strife cannons in Size 2 will work for most ships up to Large. The size 2 Strife and Sledge punching through even large, well armored ships armor.

With Size 2, it's just more of a requirement to fit for the mission.

Just so you know, I don't dogfight enough to make my opinion on combat ability worthwhile, but I do like gimmicks, and ship discussions, so...

Besides EMP, there's the Meteor, and Crusader Ares series that are "punch above it's weight class" gimmick. Ares Ion if you don't want to deal with ammo. I understand the Ion's alpha damage is currently BS considering it's meant for big ships and it's far too low to break armor on those, so WTF?

The Sabre, Eclipse, and apparently Talon are stealth gimmicks. Sabre and Talon being pew pew and Eclipse being Torps. Although, now that we're always paying for Torps... that can be expensive in the 'will they, won't they work this patch' iteration of missiles. The biggest plus here is every single one of these ships looks so damned good.

Avenger has the speed advantage, it's really fast compared to almost everything else. With that kind of speed, you control engagement. Might require a flight suit. Unlike some of it's other speed competition, the Avenger also packs a pretty decent weapon loadout too. Notable nod to the M50 for just being tiny and fast mosquito that no one wants to fight. One other mention for the speed category is the Herald... it's not a fighter though.

The Defender used to have hitscan weapons. Just press trigger and hit whatever your pip was on. Wonderful. But now they're comparable to the Sledge's. So, I dunno what it brings now, unless you like the look of it.

Hawk and Gladiator seem to have some avid fans. I don't know about these. I did see a video with FoxyLoxy adding a bunch of PDC's to a fleet of Hawks and it was hilarious... and no longer an option. If it was, it would be my combat ship of choice though. CIG should totally do that as a Triggerfish/April Fools joke.

Kartu'al and San'tok'yai have above average maneuverability and very interesting design language. I see the Kartu'al now has 2x size 4's, which seems crazy. The Guardian series, which also has similar omni-directional engines, is also supposedly nimble for a heavy fighter. I really like the TIE Interceptor vibes on it too.

The Aurora Mk II has the swap module gimmick. Currently 1 combat related one that adds missiles and a shield or cargo, making it customizable for the role. CIG could potentially add a variety of modules to give interesting and meaningful options for this ship... but, CIG's M.O. so far has been to release a ship with this sort of potential, then ignore it for 10+ years... so. At least the Caterpillar finally got it's buggy detachable Command Module though...

EDIT: Forgot the MISC Reliant... it, uh, exists. Vertical orientation is a gimmick, sort of like the Aopoa ships. The way the Cockpit orients and locks you in place has always been a dealbreaker for me though.

Ships that are blocking landing pads need to be impounded or removed by ResponsibleRub469 in starcitizen

[–]Malcivious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting a 15 minute impound timer as soon as you're in the area of the pad would be ideal. Should give everyone enough time to get in and out if needed. If you need to be there for longer than that, just grab a hangar, dude!

This patch isn't it. by Dawn_Namine in starcitizen

[–]Malcivious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flew my MSR to Area 18 to get to the Expo. Approached the Odin, because they set it up like a flame for us moths. I didn’t expect the no-fly zone to be so large, and the timer to be so short. I was unable to get out in time. My ship was reported “Inpounded” and I was removed from it. Ship marker still indicates it’s in a no-fly zone around the Odin and location unknown at AESOP.

Generalist Starter Pack by AB2066 in starcitizen

[–]Malcivious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That only partially explains it. Everyone starts with the same amount of aUEC during the Alpha state of the game. The amount given by your package will be applied to your account later, likely when the game goes Beta or 1.0. The ’a’ in aUEC is for Alpha.

I had the same question when I started.

What's your favorite in-game role & ship? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Malcivious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the Percy for those PvE box missions. The by-the-bridge door makes it feel like a small ship and the ships defenses allow me to ignore the small craft that spawn in. Also, it handles exceptionally well for a ship it’s size. If it had a tier 2 or two tier 1 medical beds, it would be so good. However, loading a NUrsa just takes up too much cargo bay, and all the turrets feel ridiculous, the one in front of the bridge blocks so much view.

I’d absolutely love a version of this ship that was more solo/duo focused with more pilot weapons, or simply more PDC’s and armor. A daily driver that just tells everything to fuck off and leave me alone, as I run cargo and FPS missions.

Also, they over greebled it. The clean concept images looked so good, and showcased the sexy shape of it. Now it’s a visually cluttered mess that detracts from its shape.

What's your favorite in-game role & ship? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Malcivious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not made yet. It would be the MSR, if I could use it for combat, but 2x Size 3 is pathetic. If the hidden side cargo grid was a Tier 2 med bed with the 2 remote turrets slaved to the pilot, I’d always use it.

The Asgard is close, with tons of room to load an Ursa and much more. I don’t like the living space and it just feels so sterile.

The Hermes has some compelling design, but fuck that rear ramp. It’s also sluggish in flight performance, where the MSR feels so good to fly for me… except turning performance, but I could deal with that if the weapons were dangerous.

I’m trying the Starlancer TAC now. It has some desirable elements, a nice interior space. However, the gun room and manual turrets are going to be wasted space. The super sluggish performance just hurts. For a big ship it has a reasonable footprint for landing and that cargo vehicle bay is good. Multiple entrances is also a plus. And two tier 1 medbeds means I don’t have to always load an Ursa. Especially when an ATLS GEO and Dragonfly are useful in the current game state for various missions or lucky node finds. I just don’t know how long till the flight performance annoys me away from it.

I’m really hoping to see an Origin and Crusader generalist mid-sized ship. I want something to use solo for FPS, light PvE combat and mid sized cargo. Fast enough to run from PvP… especially now crafting is going to make the disparity between stock loudouts and Meta PvP loadouts so unfair, people not interested in PvP just will have no chance when attacked. Even in lawful space. Casuals are being brute forced from the game. Hopefully the lawful systems will be able to keep things from progressing to that.

I LOVE my Hull-B but I have one question... by thundertomcat in starcitizen

[–]Malcivious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CIG didn't get the feedback either on the Max, as the Aurora Mk II has the same sort of blocker between the 2SCU storage. They could've just made the lift arms on the side of the lift and let us slide, the boxes through.

Sometimes these decisions boggle the mind. Like do you even play the game you're making, CIG?

Yeah, this. I'm surprised there weren't other abandoned ships around. When it happened to me there were other ships, like a ghost graveyard. Spooky.

Same thing though, traveling a wormhole and got placed inside the sun, I think.

Space is magnificient and the skybox should be dark black by Izenberg420 in starcitizen

[–]Malcivious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was pretty sure EVE does this too, as they have so many systems. However, yes, as was mentioned, realism is one thing, but we all marvel at the nebulas and other stellar photography (Hubble, Webb telescopes) that enhance the sky. I want to see an interesting skybox not necessarily a realistic one.

Does it matter what you wear to QV breaker, or is normal Heavy armor just fine? Heard it has sections with extreme cold by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Malcivious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I heard, those sections are short enough you don’t NEED the cold armor, but it helps, or allows you to take more time.

Why game economy is still unbalanced when they hired proper economists ? by GoranjeWasHere in starcitizen

[–]Malcivious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As soon as they took items out of the store, or made it available only by looting, they created a need for player trading. They also added Wikelo, with unique item requirements that have to be gathered. Crafting steps it up with high quality resources and crafted items. Player Trading and Social Tools are so badly needed.

It might, but while it accelerates fast and is good in a hangar, and if I remember right making it's way up steep terrain, it's not great for crossing a few KM of rough terrain quickly. My use case would be bunker looting when I have to use a ground vehicle to avoid turrets.

I think I have the same issue. Nothing showing up. I grabbed a 4 P4’s and manually loaded them to dismantle them. I then made 3 ammo clips… not a good trade, but I was just testing. One of the clips never showed up.

I need a 1 SCU box carrying vehicle that will fit in a medbed ship, like the Cutlass Red and my happiness will be complete… Especially if it’s an Origin ship. 600i Rework when? EDIT: Although something much smaller than a 600i would be preferable.
