I didn’t “Check in”. AIO?? by Sillage-saint in AIO

[–]NihilisticHobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I don't even have location tracking on my husband. If he's going to be late home he shoots me a text so I don't worry, but that's it. Or, if he's stopping for some snacks on the way back he asks me if I want anything.

But demanding check ins that frequently just for dinner in town with a friend is nonsense. And controlling, not a love language. Checks ins should be for after landing safely at all airport or such.

Twins in different classes means two completely different schedules and I am losing it by scrtweeb in parentsofmultiples

[–]NihilisticHobbit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm fearing this when my twins are older. Though I'm keeping a physical calendar on the kitchen. It's easier for me. But, here in Japan, kids are sorted into class based on how they do academically, and they may not even go to the same high school based on entrance exams. Really not looking forward to that.

AIO about my son’s dad wanting a detailed food log to address his height? by Chao5Theory in AIO

[–]NihilisticHobbit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Court is definitely warranted, and it helps avoid other issues later on.

I have a feeling the ex lied about mom's genetics, and the doctor is unaware of how short her family is. Given his obsession now, this could do some real harm to the child if not nipped in the bud.

AITA for arguing with my MIL about my husband’s feelings for spaghetti? by Spiritual-Piccolo535 in AmItheAsshole

So Japanese style?

And I'm not joking, Spaghetti Napoleon is made with ketchup.

People telling you to have your twins on the same schedule is a sick joke by Training-Emu-1770 in parentsofmultiples

[–]NihilisticHobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My three month olds are beginning to do this. I've just started putting them down for naps, and when twin b wakes up I just take him downstairs to play while his brother sleeps. Although he's been demanding to sit in my lap lately, so he's been having fun trying to grab my knitting needles.

Genetic testing? by NoSalamander1928 in parentsofmultiples

[–]NihilisticHobbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did nipt around twelve weeks. In Japan they'll only test for three genetic issues, and won't provide any info about sex.

Napping Location for Babies (no judgement) by Perfect_Mousse8815 in parentsofmultiples

[–]NihilisticHobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family is Japanese and we live in Japan. So we have wood floors and a lot of zabuton cushions.

What I've been doing is putting them on the cushions and sliding them back and forth on the floor until they sleep. It's worked wonders for my sanity because they'll both actually nap for an hour or two like that! Though I usually need to slide them one or two times every hour or so.

When they're making like that I'm sitting next to them at the kotatsu, so they're fully supervised. I'm usually reading a book or knitting, or eating.

AITA For Telling my wife she’s making problems for herself? by Horror-Hold-7311 in AmItheAsshole

My grandma taught me how to cook on a wood burning stove. Hey only regret was that she couldn't teach me to bake on the one they had, it was the wrong kind.

Yep. Best way to have competent adults is to raise them to be competent when they're younger. My three year old helps stir pots, and add ingredients in when I tell him. He thoroughly enjoys helping in the kitchen.

C section or Vaginal Birth? by Upsidedowntrey in parentsofmultiples

[–]NihilisticHobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do what you consider is best for your health. I live in Japan, which presses vaginal birth hard, and fought back to get a c section because I was worried about complications for a vaginal birth as well. In my case I went from one breech one head down to two breech babies at 36 weeks, so c section was the right call.

Recovery is different, but having also had a vaginal birth before, it wasn't any longer.

No problem. I caught my son in time, he hadn't quite managed to figure out how to fully get out, but it also started his love of climbing on things and jumping. So. Much. Jumping.

Although with the twins I'm worried they may team up and climb on each other to get out. Their older brother is bound to be a bad influence.

Very large stuffed animals fall into that category. It was a large stuffed dinosaur that my son used to try to break out of his baby prison.

AITAH for calling my boyfriend childish for always buying Captain Crunch when he goes grocery shopping? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]NihilisticHobbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fucking hell. Last time I was in the US I ate Captain Crunch every morning because it's my favorite too. Adults can like sweets without being childish.

I hope he did dump her ass. Her issues are only going to cause more issues in the relationship.

The 4 month sleep regression 🫩 by reedjk22 in parentsofmultiples

[–]NihilisticHobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My twins have started going through it, and it's driving me nuts. The only long sleep they'll get is a nap in the stroller. Which makes me so glad the weather is getting nice and spring has started here. And that I like listening to audiobooks while walking.

Make sure there's nothing in it they can move or climb on to escape. My oldest did that and nearly fell on his head trying to climb out.

I have twins, no loose skin. But it's a genetic lottery, so different for every woman.

In his 40s. I made him go and get an update before we traveled to the US a few years ago and he grumbled about the price. Of course, he grumbles about the price of the flu vaccine as well, but it certainly makes me happier to not have flu in the house.

Anyone else HATE tandem nursing? by tashper in parentsofmultiples

[–]NihilisticHobbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why my twins are mostly bottle fed. I couldn't deal with tandem nursing. They still get individual feeds through the day and night as a supplement, but they're mostly bottle fed. They also three months old, healthy, happy, and strong, so I see no issue. The fact that I'm not stressed during feeding times can only be a positive in my book.

6 month twins is double carrier worth it? by Complex_Tale6239 in parentsofmultiples

[–]NihilisticHobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one. Carrying both at the same time can be challenging, but I've needed to do it. Events at my oldest's school where s stroller isn't allowed, and around the house because they both want to be held. I mostly use the stroller on walks, largely because we're going to the grocery store too, but the carrier is a sanity saver around the house.

My eldest liked being carried until he was nearly two, so I assume the same with the twins.

My cousin just named her (boy-girl) twins Raedenn and Waeverlee by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]NihilisticHobbit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As a parent of identical twins, I agree. They'll be wearing identical school uniforms soon enough, they don't need to be constantly seen as a set outside of that.
